Received one of each of the three JayJays Transformers Watches recently, and in return for the generous gift, I've taken some photos to review them.

From the news article (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=6986), there will be three watches, released around March, and will be priced at $25 each.

Two watches are transformable, while the third has a projector light in it.

The watch componant itself isn't anything fancy, but the emphasis is on the gimmicks here. The fact that these tell time, is half the value of these. And since most
cheap kids themed-watches would on their own be at least $10-15, the value of the gimick being the remaining $10-15 is not too bad for what you get (or would
have to pay for as a gimmick on its own).
These are licensed items after all, so you're paying for a working watch (cheap), a transformable figure or projector (cheap), and the license, making the retail price
of these limited edition items quite reasonable/expected.

The watches even come with a 1 year repair or replacement warranty, to an Australian address.

Each watch is packed the same, in the same plastic bubble, and almost identicle card insert.

.
Out of packaging, all three are completely different - even the straps are different for the two Bumblebee themed watches.

.
Removed from their holders and transformed - Optimus and Bumblebee.
Transformation is simple, as the legs fold down 90degrees, and the fists extend out of the arms.
.

.
Close up of the two robots. Each has moveable heads and extendable fists - elements that probably wouldn't be necessary, but have been added into the design
and cost of production.
The exterior sculpting is unique (not just painted generic parts), and done to the point that they are both easily recognisable as their intended characters.

.
As for the projector watch - you press the button on the left side, and the Autobot symbol is projected out of the right side.

Overall, I think they are worth the $25 price, considering how much is actually included in the price-tag.

I recommend buying at least one for the gimmick side of things if you are an older fan, but these things should sell quite well to the kiddies... which is a pity
that the source of these items is a store chain that is marketted to people in their teens and 20s. I rarely see kids in JayJays stores.
And if that is the case, I think they would be great as a gift to a kid who is into Transformers, given by someone in that older demographic that makes
up the majority of patrons in JayJays stores.

(thanks to JayJays for the samples, making it possible to do this review)

I've been waiting for these watches for 11 months now! I went into Jayjays on Sunday and they still have no idea what I'm talking about whenever I ask. :(

They seem to be better value than the $30 Whizz Watch (although from a kid's play perspective, the Whizz Watch is pretty cool considering that it is also incorporates remote control car play). I was thinking about getting Optimus Prime (as my Whizz Watch is already Bumblebee themed), but the Bumblebee watch looks better. Prime's robot mode looks like a heater. :p The projector watch looks kinda neat too. :)

Jayjay's TF watches: "Where the bloody hell are ya?" :/

I appreciate the fact that JayJays have been generous enough to send these so we can all take a look however I'm not sold on them at all.

I would have prefered a much more adult-like watch that I can wear to work.

These don't really go with a business shirt.

With TF cufflinks and tie pins and the logo belt, that'll make the suit theme more consolidated ;):D

Who (besides a child) would actually wear these things?

I understand the novelty factor and if your intentions are to collect them, but surely a grown man that wants to be taken seriously wouldn't actually wear one in public?

I was hoping for something more mature too. These watches were certainly designed for kids rather than adults or teenagers for that matter.

I also would have preferred a G1 themed watch :)

You know what would be cool? A metal (or chromed) Time Warrior with a decent time display.

Or import the Japanese Transformers G-Shock watches (http://www.tanomi.com/tf/gshock.html) - but they retail for 15540JPY ($188) a pop! (0o0)

*sigh* Today I went to Jayjays looking for these watches. I've been looking for 11 months now. Naturally they weren't there... and as usual the staff have absolutely no idea when they'll be out.

Where for art thou, Jayjays TF watches?!!

That's cool but they don't seem very 'transformery' aside from the small text.

They shouldve at least made the watches shape into the two faction symbols ei?
