View Full Version : Iron Man 2 action figures?

gantz
15th March 2010, 11:01 AM
hey guys, has anyone seen the iron man 2 action figures in any stores yet???

Dkaris
16th March 2010, 01:40 AM
ive seen the iron man 2 bobble heads, and some other weird size/shaped type but none of the 3 inch ones.

gantz
16th March 2010, 01:52 PM
cool! yeah ive seen the bobbleheads, funko exclusives, the red vortex race car, repulsor blast gloves and helmet but oddly still no action figures!

Dkaris
16th March 2010, 02:25 PM
I'd say the end of the month at the earliest is when we will see them start to appear.

gantz
16th March 2010, 04:04 PM
They were only released in the states March 1st, so I'd say you're right.

Meangreen
16th March 2010, 08:28 PM
They haven't shown up yet in kiwiland either.

I'm hoping the line moves faster, or is less overstocked, than the wolverine line was. Because I'd really like to be able to get the later waves of a movie toyline for a change...

gantz
17th March 2010, 10:39 AM
it was a damn shame we only got a few various Wolverine figures. and was actually shocked at how over stocked every action figure was.

Are those 6 inch exclusives the marvel select ones? any idea where to pick them up (probably have to order from the states)

gantz
17th March 2010, 03:58 PM
nope, they're the Walmart exclusives, so yeah gonna have to order those from ebay.

The marvel select figures are Borders exclusives. Ive been meaning to ask australian Borders stores if they will stock them, I dont know much about Borders. Hopefully they'll be made available to comic stores.

Hasbro's IM2 toys are set for an April release, probably 2-3 weeks before the movie is out on the 29th.

gantz
18th March 2010, 02:55 PM
and that would be just for the action figures yeah?? cause most other items have been released.

gantz
25th March 2010, 12:45 PM

They look Fantastic! Especially the concept series.

^You hit the nail on the head Loophole...

My local Toyworld had them in stock yesterday...and I will
admit they look pretty awesome...I'm not paying $18.00 for
a 3.75 inch tall action figure.
:(

That's the same as a ROTF scout...

Although...if I can't find them cheaper...I will still have to
pick up the film and comic War Machine...He's just so bad ass!

Having been bitten by the $2 Joe bug, I had a look at what was released in New Zealand so far (Wave one of the Movie line). Price tag of $20NZ per figure thoiugh really put me off and what has put me off getting anything else 4 inch in the past.

SMHFConvoy

Yeah they have been marked up. Target has them for $15 atm and I picked up the hypervelocity armor. Anyone know why there's a peghole in the figures back?

Optics my good man, is that the Mark I suit in the back right? I haven't seen him at retail yet (haven't really looked in many places mind) but I'm desperate to get my grubby mits on that one...Oh and isn't the paint on the original Iron Man absolutely amazing? I like the Warmachine figure too, the only one I have so far. some of the others look nice as well, though judging from this thread (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?p=161386#post161386) there are some lemons in the series too.

Was pleased to find this little beauty at my local Kmart today. :) Stupid accessory aside (not sure why Hasbro felt the need to include a silly oversized flamethrower, wouldn't a pop-up missle gimmick in one of the arms make more sense?) this is another amazingly detailed figure for the size. I loved the whole Mark I scene and to have a toy representation of the suit is a real nerdgasm. :D

As discussed in the other Marvel vs Toybiz thread, Hasbro seem to be separating the gimmick from the figure with recent toys. I think it's a good thing though, as you just know if they had done a pop up gimmick, they would have robbed the toy of arm articulation.

That particular Iron Man toy has also caught my eye, I'm wondering if it will be one that sells out, or hangs around till they get discounted.

From what I've seen in stores so far, Kmart has the most in terms of available stock and variety and is the only place I've seen the LED Mark VI (I looked at 10 at Chermside Kmart tonight, all had atrocious paint apps so I didn't get one ) and Target is the only place I've seen the Centurions-esque concept series ones. I've been to other stores like Big W, Toyworld and Myer and they had bugger all IM2 toys. If you're after Mark I try Target first - I saw 4 of them as opposed to only 1 at Kmart. Hope a LED Mark VI with decent paint turns up at some point!

After sorting through 15-20 LED Mark VI's I finally came across one with decent paint apps. Wasn't too happy with the mouth so I filled it in with black paint, much better. :)

I remember first seeing the hypervelocity promo pic on the cover of toyfare, and was a little dissapointed when I saw it in person, that said, I reckon its a pretty awesome figure, especially with this super simple modification, so Iron Man can have a jet pack!

Dkaris

Well, I'm slowly building my Iron Man armory.

http://i379.photobucket.com/albums/oo232/Bullfinger/Random%20Toy%20Pics/Coffeecan.jpg

First up is that one Iron Man armor I don't really know how to refer to. Anyway, it's a nice fig. Slightly substandard with the silly shoulder pad articulation though. Quite a nice sculpt though, looks the part.

http://i379.photobucket.com/albums/oo232/Bullfinger/Random%20Toy%20Pics/Hulkbuster.jpg

Second is the Hulkbuster. To be honest, I'm pretty ambivalent on it. I can deal with the small size but the paint mismatch and some aspects of the sculpt don't wow me. He'll look good throwing down with the Juggernaut in any case.

Having fiddled with these a bit I can honestly say I like MU style hips more too. What a chore rotating these ones to the right direction.

WHOA! AN ACTUAL POSABLE IRON MAN FIGURE! But one small complaint though - is it me or does his body proportions seem out of place? just a tad-bit? His upperchest seems quite small but then again that could have been intentional with Robotech designing.

Impressive, but the proportions just seem a tad-bit off imo. I think it's the chest on both of them, doesn't it seem a bit too low?

Oh cool Gantz. I swear I saw a proto for the final whiplash somewhere just the other day...

I've been picking up a fair few IM2 figures now they're at clearance. I'll have to take a good Hall or armor pic once I have them all in my grasp. Titanium Man still eludes me though *Shakes fist at sky*.

I picked up myself a few comic series figures at a couple of Kmarts when I ran across them for $6AU while visiting. It was strange finding only the one Iron Man figure in a store and it being one I was interested in.

Need Comic Mandarin though - and hes not cheap.

I'd say there's a pretty good chance I could find a Titanum Man if I looked hard enough. Want me to see if I can find one for you?

And if he cant, I could.

K-Mart I ventured into on Saturday had a few.

Was the proto you saw similar to this hammer drone??

Hmm, it's tempting, IM2 figures are clearanced after all aren't they? Still, the Aussie dollar would make postage pretty rough.

Here's the link though Gantz. I dont think much is known about it apart from that.

I owe Zippo a Birthday prez later in the year, I could piggy back in the same parcel if you're happy to wait till Sept/Nov... whenever the hell it is. :P I heard you're nearby?

On a sadder note, my Kmart no longer have any IM2 figs left at all. So I'll let you know if I have any luck when I hit Geelong soon.

********************************

I don't like the prototype at all but I love the drone.... I'd be all over that. I wonder if we'll ever see it here?

Hey man, if you can that would be hugely appreciated! Waiting is no problem to me.

Classic Iron Men!

No matter how much I handle the IM2 figures I don't think I'll ever like them better than the MU mold. I can't deal with the lack of wrists and the gimped head articulation. Each to their own I guess as I think most people rate the former over the latter.

Post some badass pics Gantz!

http://i379.photobucket.com/albums/oo232/Bullfinger/Deepdive.jpg

I grabbed this guy recently. He's very cool and all, definitely a cool armor but I feel like mine has some messed up legs. His stance is really wide and his feet don't sit flat, in addition to that the tops of his thighs are quite different in design, with one having a lip that blocks inwards articulation. It's all very strange and I guess what I'm asking is if anyone else has this figure with these issues?

gantz

I'll try my best :D

Yeah but you still made him look sick!! Which armour is that?

I can sort of see what you're saying from the pic, the positioning looks odd, but dont have the figure myself...

It's the "Deep Dive" from the first wave of the IM2 concept line. He should be well reduced by now and is really a swish figure. (See review) (http://www.battlegrip.com/?p=12237)

I think that dude's figure suffers as well, it must be a weird design choice perhaps?

It may just be the way he has been positioned, but the chest place looks oddly place hey.

Besides that, great looking figure and I do like the paint job.

Grabbing a few of these from BBTS for the Initiative War Machin when he arrives, they're for Gundam figures, but god damn, you know Iron Man figures would look so much more awesome on 'em :D

Plus the green will compliment War Machine very well

Well sorry Meangreen but my attempts to track you down a Titanium Man are a complete bust. I've not only hit every store in Bendigo but today I also checked out over half of Geelong and still no luck.

Hey man, that's ok. Thanks so much for putting that effort in regardless.

I've consoled myself with the Advanced Armor figure that Zippo snagged for me from your fair country.

Apart from the lack of arm swivels this figure is full on glorious. The added neck joint has a really big positive impact and the sculpt is really nice. It's a pity the line never got to crank out more cool comic armors like this.

Have seen the armour a few times and thought awesome of it.

'Green, can I ask, I've just received the friggin' marvelous Initiative War Machine, And really want pics to look great!

Any tips? How do you achieve that white background on most of your pics?

The best camera I have is on my Nokia N8, its good, but I guess useless in the hands of someone who has like no idea what they're doin!

Well, I'm not overly experienced with photography so I found this tutorial HERE (http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/07/how-to-diy-10-macro-photo-studio.html), and others like it on the web, to be a great help. I built a similarly cheap set up myself, except that it's heavy on the "extra-cheap" side.

From my experience the camera is not as important as lighting the subject and having the camera steady. I use an 8 year old, 3 MP camera with about 5 minutes battery life every charge. As long as it has a macro mode it should be sufficient.

I also have to balance the colours a bit after taking the photo as all my light is very yellow.

I'm excited to see what you come up with!
