I'd just like to stick this photo of a friend and I playing TF Monopoly. But this thread can be used for anything relating to TF Monopoly - discussion, pics... whatever. ;)

it's the same as playing Monopoly only with a Transformers theme. The streets are all named after known locations from Transformers fiction (e.g.: Iacon, Dinobot Island, Maccadam's Oil House, Autobot City etc.), the train stations are called Transports and include things like the Space Bridge and the Ark etc. and the utilities are things like Teletran-1 and Vector Sigma. Community Chest are Autobot cards and Chance are Decepticon cards - both require a tech specs decoder (included) to read them!

The currency all feature Transformers on them, i.e.:
$1 = Bumblebee
$5 = Soundwave
$10 = Ultra Magnus
$20 = Starscream
$50 = Prowl
$100 = Megatron
$500 = Optimus Prime

The tokens are all die-cast metal and are: Optimus Prime, Jazz, Bumblebee, Megatron, Soundwave and Starscream.

Houses are purple and called "Energon Cubes", hotels are the same but called "Anti-Matter."

The only rules which differ from standard Monopoly are optional Transformers rules which take effect if you roll doubles. e.g.: double 1 is "Transwarp Drive" which means that you can move to any square on the board. Double 6 means that you can attack another player's property in order to seize control of it from an opponent. Successfully conquering or liberating an opponent's property means that that property then belongs to you. :)

Removed off-topic postings about guns, hair, demanding proof of spouses and busty looking girls.
Some of those are not permitted on this forum, and others are just too irrelevant to be on a Transformers discussion topic.

I love monopoly, only problem being is no-one else in my house does.

Anyhoo, I wanted to add some "House Rules" to make it more Transformery. As I haven't spent much time thinking of any the only one I have so far is if an Autobot and a Decepticon land on the same space, they have to battle it out. Roll the die and the person with the lowest numbers has to miss a turn.

I am also trying to think of a way to include their Tech Specs, without giving Optimus and Megatron too much of an advantage. For example addtional movement etc etc.

...or you could just play it with Attacktix pieces ;P

Then I would have to hack out my eyes and burn the board after defiling them with such horrid abominations!:p

Oi! Don't knock Attacktix! :p

Seriously though, turning Monopoly into a war game would further complicate the rules (Monopoly already takes a long time to play as it is) and it would also turn off some people who just aren't into that sort of thing. I suggested using Attacktix because the rules of battlefield engagement in that game is really simple (i.e.: launch missiles and try to knock the other piece over) - believe me it sounds simple but it actually takes some technique and strategy to pull off well in actual play.

The optional TF Monopoly rules allows you to attack any other player's property so long as they don't own the entire colour group for that property if you roll a double-6. Once you've challenged another player you both roll a die. The person with the highest roll gets control of the contested property. It's a simple and effective way of having "battle" in the game of Monopoly without adding a stack of combat rules to it.

There are other TF battle games already out there if you want to play something more combat-oriented - but I think that it would seriously disrupt the flow of a Monopoly game... and quite frankly in such a long game that would be the last thing that most players would want.

More combat/war-oriented TF games...

Yep, and thats why I mentioned them as being "House Rules". I didn't say that they make the game better. Since this thread was opened for general discussion, then I thought I would add a few ideas that I had about the game. It is of course up to the individuals involved as to whether thay want to use them or not.

There is a KO of the Monopoly game out there. If you purchased it locally just recently, it may very well be. I haven't seen it in the shops for a while now.

From memory, if the game pieces are not pewter but rather plastic, it's the KO version. There are other ways of telling but I never opened mine up.

Another way to tell the KO from the original is:
+ The Monopoly pieces on the KO are huge and plastic. The legit ones are tiny (same scale as traditional Monopoly pieces) and made of solid pewter metal.
+ The notes on the KO are smaller than standard Monopoly notes, whereas the legit ones are larger. Also the yellow on the $100 bill is a darker shade of yellow than on the original, and the print resolution isn't as clear/crisp.

As well as that, the board I got on the KO was a rubbery plastic mat, rather than an actual board. And I ended up getting the properties for Simpsons Monopoly :p
