Here's a scribble I did back in 1998. It's Bludgeon with a nobori.

That's awesome Goki. Was this drawn all from memory or based on an existing or similar pic?

Bludgeon has always been one of my fav characters... well before he was popularised through the Marvel comic series.

Just a question - is the purpose of this thread to add our own Bludgeon fanart as well? I don't want to come across as hijacking it if it's not.

Neither. It's an original pic I made myself. I had the toy in front of me so I could get the details right... but otherwise it's not based on any existing pic. Bludgeon's never been illustrated carrying a nobori in any official canonical image AFAIK. I tried to make the helmet more like an actual Samurai helmet (hence the broader "shikoro" base and slightly larger "mon" (crest)).

Ditto. :) He's my favourite of the 1989 Pretenders toys.

Go for it dude. :)

Sorry. I think I confused things. By me asking "Was this drawn all from memory", what I meant to say was, is this an original pic :o

That makes it all that more impressive as it wasn't based on another illustration. Well done.

Of course, here is my effort (based on the image displayed in my avatar) which most have seen by now -

Great pics guys. Bludgeon art is always good.
I know this is a fanart thread, but I made some nobori for my NEST Bludgeon today. Rather just post a pic here than start a new thread, or put it in the review thread (which got a bit hijacked with whole nobori thing).

I cannot decide how to decorate these now. I was thinking of a big white-on-clear decepticon sticker, but I only have purple-on-silver ones, and don't think they would suit. If I was a better artist I could draw one with a sharpie maybe...
Anyway, here they are for comment...
(My camera ran out of battery, so just the one snap for now)

I was gonna suggest a Rising Sun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rising_Sun_Flag) with a Decepticon insignia in the middle, but then Drift might get made and decapitate Bludgeon just by thinking it! :p Maybe some of the Kanji suggested in the nobori discussion on the Bludgeon review thread??

I drew these pics of Bludgeon 6 years ago:

Nice art work man, you've definitely got a talent there especially when invoking three totally awesome aspects - Robots, Skeletons and Japanese Warriors. :D

One that's an awesome pic Goki but it's an even better concept, man that'd be freakin' awesome figure. :D

Kanji would break the 4th Wall. Use Cybertronian letters stylized to look like Kanji. Kind of like Botcon Banzaitron's.

Not necessarily because Bludgeon's been on Earth (hence the Earthen tank mode) -- and they acquired all of Earth's languages via the World Wide Web, so he would have knowledge of Kanji. Perhaps he found feudal Japanese culture to his liking (compatible with his own 'culture' of Metallikato) and adapted it - much like how Jazz adapted African-American pop culture. :)

If it were pre-Earth Bludgeon, then yeah, Kanji would make no sense. Or you could have a nobori with Decepticon letters (http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/a/ad/Decepticon_Translations.jpg). :D

In theory perhaps, but in reality the toy would suck cos the Pretender Shell would have to have a simplified transformation (cos the core needs to a hollow casing) - and the inside figure would have to be smaller and simpler too. But they could probably make a decent smaller version of the Wreckage mould easily enough (perhaps in Scout or Legends size) -- but yeah, the shell would be compromised. :)

Ah well, we can dream. (^_^)

Yes, yes we can and in quite a few cases, in regards to TFs at least, that's all we can. :(

They should make a Legends Bludgeon that can fit in the Pretender shell just like Universe Legends Jazz does.
