Heeeeellllo folks,
I have been wondering how to do a transformers meet. Since the meet will be packed with nerdie (hopefull) hot guys, I want to know what i'm ment to feed them, what activities i should plan ect. It's not like a girls slumber party, so i need help. Like, am i ment to have an auto/decpti paintball fight? put pink colouring in all the drinks? get out all my toys, pay for food? what? so please send your ideas this way. (i fear the only entertainment may be me dancing around a poll! :P)

please people, base your activities around no boozing and no car.
i live within walking distance of bus, pool and shops.:)

:)Just throw some Transformers on the floor and watch them fight Yukitora:D
Over here in the West we normally just meet up at some shops wander around, talk and eat. Once every 3 months we all meet at the Nexus collectors fair and on the rare occassion we meet at someones house we might watch some TF related items on tele or as the last one went at Tetsters we played SF4:D

This is an interesting question as I am in the very early stages of preparing a meet myself. It's not going to be until the weather starts to warm up again and it will also give me a chance to finish my house off as this is where I plan on hosting the event. The purpose of my meet is a seperate little meet for wollongong/southcoasters although once I create a thread for it anyone who is willing to travel is welcome.

Basically I plan to have a BBQ with drinks (encouraging responsible drinking of course) with my big open plan living area opened up onto my back deck. I also hope to have my pool completed by then so it will also be a pool party. I also plan to have all my tf cartoons/movies available to play on my flat screen at my guests requests and also toys on display (I may need the_damned's help there:o:D)Thats my plan for a meet anyway... Hope it works.

Anyway enough about my meet. Food... generally I think TF fans are quite inmature so junk food would be on the menu. If you are looking to attract guys then you dancing around a pole is a definite winner:p Seriously if you are looking to attract the opposite sex I would suggest a pool based event as swim wear would be worn which would attract guys attention. As far as entertainment goes TF shopping seems to be a succesful activity even if no toys are bought. Toys to play with or various TF board/card games or if you are hosting the at your house TF cartoons/movies playing on your TV should do the trick.

Whatever you choose I hope your event is a success:)

Transformers Monopoly is always a good idea. You could even have a transforming competition to see who can transform selected toys the fastest with a prize for the winner.

For my birthday a couple of years ago, my wife cut out Autobot and Decepticon insignias and stuck them up on the roof with pieces of string, and also printed out G1 box art to stick on the side of plain plastic cups.

Come on guys - She is looking for something hot to do not play monopoly :)

a) If its at your own place, TF DVDs, snacks, drinks and Yukitora pole dancing to the Japanese G1 music track with a her hand.

b) Go paintball shooting and label oposing teams 'Decepticons vs Autobots' and give each other appropriate TF callsigns. Then watch Yukitora pole dance :p

you all sound like a bunch of nerds!!!! XD ahahahahahaha ahah ahahahaha.:D

those are some alright ideas, but it sounds like a bunch of kids parties. not to be mean or anything, i'm just not understanding.

well, i can't pole dance but i wouldn't mind trying! of corse, all payments will go towards the food n stuff!:p No, i don't mean Yukitora as food! Though i'm sure i would taste delisious!:p

so... ... ... should i ask peoples to bring their own stuff? (games, vids, spare poles!:p ect)

Seeing as some ozformers will be traveling down/up here, should i have a 'sleep outside in a tent, you nut-job!' sleepover? or just rent the holiday house on Maggie, pile everyone in, and have a beach holiday with tf outings(via ferry)?
What would u guys prefer? Also are most ozformers kiddy friendly? This Alex sparkling is well trained and has own collection.
(Will i find ozformers nicking my stuff? Can i beat ozformers that nick my stuff?)

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh yeah.... ... ... ....

:)Have a BBQ even though I'm not sure TF collectors are capable of cooking their own food:D. You could always get one of the guys to Pole dance but that could get pretty ugly:p:D

A couple of general hints:

+ Try to organise weekend days - you're more likely to have more people attend. You'll always find someone has something on, but that's the bets time if you want more to attend.

+ Make sure the location is accessable, so people don't pull out because it's too much effort. Don't hold your Townsville meet on Magnetic Island, if you can avoid it!

+ Give people 2-3 weks notice. Any more, they'll forget about it, too short notice they'll have other plans

(:

Now lets not give her too many wild ideas...

Although...the idea of a lady pole dancing to Vince DiCola's Unicron theme
does kinda excite me a little...

But then again...Lady Gaga "excites" me...what does that even say about me?

Thanks, i kinda figured that. only one problem, i got kiddies on the weekend and didn't want to mix the two activities.

Well, at least that puts the Townsvillian count up to... 5 1/2.

I'm not sure about the kiddie type activities. I myself don't do board-games. And i also don't do night-clubbing, so draging a big group to the nearest energon pub is a no-no. ANd i'm guessing the more guys show up, the more bodyguards i'll need! .
I don't have the greatest mod-cons, like lack of stereo for eg.

How long is a tf meet ment to go for?
Are there any warhammer players? theres a tournment coming up in july or something.

Do i have to cater for someones kids that are being dragged along?

Perhaps a late morning meetup somewhere like a public shopping centre to familiarise yourselves with each other first, and to get a feel for what sort of meets to organise (or just talk it over with the others you already know are interested).
I think if you have a meet at someone's place, have everyone bring a plate of food (pre-prepared or something for a BBQ if the place has one), and some various random/new toys for everyone else to play and look over (there's thousands of TFs toys - most are bound to bring something others haven't seen/played with before). Games and activities can be optional, depending on what the interests are of those you know are coming (party games and general sociallising seemed to work at the Melb meets, while boardgames seem to be popular at the Sydney meets).

Just have a look over some of the more recent big meets in the meetup section, and see what formats have been popular, or would work with your location/members.

yes. all these ideas are awesome. I'm used to anime marathons meets, so this is going to be interesting. Especially when everyone wants to be interactive. At the anime meets, everyone has their own space and we yell at each other from across the room! No one moves from their fave spot untill food arrives, or someone relises that they have to pee! The last marathon i went to was like 2 1/2 days worth of anime watching, with a break in between to let people breath in fresh air, stand up and play bowling with the cans.

yyyyaaaaaaa, not like that would work in a tf meet.

i just hope people have got transport, or else this meet is screwed!

GoktimusPrime
11th April 2010, 09:28 PM
*shrug* Jhiaxus and I once had a Transformers comic book marathon where we just read TF comics for about half a week. ;) And that was back in the 90s when we only had Marvel Comics to read. Just imagine how long a TF comic marathon would take today if you read all of Marvel G1, G2 plus everything from Dreamwave and IDW! Phwoar! :D

I can see how this is going to go.

Yuki - "Okay, so I don't have a car, so we'll all be piling into Burn's car!"
Others - "Which one's Burn's car?"
Yuki - "The one with the 'Con symbol on the back! SQUUUUEEEEEEEE!!!!!"

So its like a mini nerd gathering! So would happy ozformers play DDR? (Dance revolution) and does anyone have a list of cybertron foods? Without pointing me to wiki? I need more than space carrots!

The problem is that they only drink Energon! Cybertron is a gastronomy nightmare :)

The only thing that I can suggest are strawberry Jelly cubes or square cakes with pink frosting.

I am sure that a certain member will come along and point out that in Star date 1234 in Season x Episode y time z, Rhinox ate some fruit so we should all have some pears but that would miss the point ;)

This sounds more like a kids birthday party :P

in regards to the anime meet, you could apply that to this one and make it transformers anime. There's plenty to choose from - G1, BW etc

and everyone can come dressed as transformers.

Outside: Drinks, good food, Music basically a BBQ
Inside: People bring along toys, comics/ Books, Memorabilia etc and fans can interact with each other and talk about TF at their own leasure. Having a BBQ outside would also open it up for partners and families to attend.
But drinks and transfomers sounds like fun to me
