I think that Supreme is actually for BM.

I am not an expert but here it goes:

G1- Never had formal classification of toy sizes I think but had the following:
---
Micromasters
Mini-bots
General figures (Prime, Soundwave, Megatron, Blaster, Jazz, etc)
Bases

G2- don't know
---
BW
----
Basic
Deluxe
Mega
Ultra

BM:
---
Basic
Deluxe
Mega
Ultra
Supreme

Just quickly off the top of my head

As Kup said G1 and G2 didn't really have sizes, although you can fudge most of them into the later size classifications. Pretenders were the first to use terms like Ultra and Mega to define different sizes.

BW
Basic
Deluxe
Mega
Ultra
Super

BM
Deployers
Basics
Deluxe
Mega
Ultra
Supreme

Machine Wars
Basic
Mega
Ultra

RID
Spychanger 2 packs / Small Combiners
Deluxe / Deluxe 2 packs
Mega / Mega 3 pack
Ultra
Super
Supreme

Energon
Scouts replaced Minicons (although there were still some three pack Minicons)
I forget the names of the large Energon series toys

I think Paul means Scouts replaced Basics.

These are actually price points, rather than size points. And yeah, it didn't exist in G1/G2.

I would LOVE for someone to add Recommend Retail Pricing to any of those (for my own database needs).

Thanks!

No, I meant Energon Scouts replaced Armada Minicons which replaced the earlier Basics :)

As Goktimus says the size points equals price points and nearly every different G1/G2 subgroup had different prices. So in my spreadsheet I list the G1/G2 subgroup in the same category that I list Basic/Deluxe/Mega for the newer toys

Thus:

G1 - 1984
Mini-cars
Mini-cassettes
Autobot Cars
Decepticons Jets
Decepticon Communicator
Autobot Commander
Decepticon Commander

G1 - 1985
Mini-bots
Mini-cassettes
Autobot Cars
Autobot Commander
Autobot Scientist
Autobot Communicator
Dinobots
Deluxe Autobots
Jumpstarters
Autobot Air Guardian
Whatever Omega was called
Decepticon Jets
Constructicons
Insecticons
Deluxe Insecticons
Decepticon Military Commander
Triple Changers
Decepticon Communicator
Decepticon Commander

and so on and so on

Cybertron is confirmed..you've got it all there except for Legend

I think General figures is too broad a definiton for G1. Looking at the second year figures Blaster is a much bigger toy than Topspin (for example... in fact isn't Blaster like the same size as Metroplex? ) You could class G1 toys based on how many Robot points they had on their boxes which related to the price of the toy. But this would probably require some sort of look up table... and would probably too complex to really contemplate!

ARMADA - I forgot about all the silly names the Armada series introduced.
Mini-Con
Supercon
Maxcon
Gigacon
Roleplay

ENERGON
Scouts (Omnicons/Terrorcons/Mini-Cons)
Combat class
Mega class
Command class
Leaders class
Supreme
Roleplay

CYBERTRON
Legends
Minicon Versus Packs
Scout
Deluxe
Voyager
Ultra
Leader
Supreme

UNIVERSE
Micromaster
Spychangers
Scout
Deluxe
Battle in a Box
Ultra
Supreme

thanks for all that paul :)

and as for G1, i like the robot points idea, ill scour google for a bit, otherwise i might just make my own ideas - atm im thinking that since there wasnt many versions of the same character like there is today, i might just group them by year....

Activators are the same price point as Basics/Scout Class- just with a different name due to the insta-change gimmick.

ok i did some work on setting up G1 classes, based on size where appropriate, but of course blaster comes in and messes with the whole system :p - ive tried to minimise where possible (i know dinos and insecticons arent the same, same goes for 3/6 changers) but its done for a database system so i dont have a million options to choose from....

Micromaster
Minicar (inc throttlebots)
City/Base
Commander (eg OP, megs, shockwave, magnus etc)
General – cars/jets/dudes of toyline (bot cars, con jets, blaster, perceptor, whirl etc)
Cassette
Combiner
Dinobot/Insecticon
Mail Away
Triple Changer (inc six-changers)
Targetmaster
Headmaster
Powermaster
Pretender
Actionmaster
Euro (non US released figs)
Decoy
Other (battlechargers, clones, jumpstarters, Gnaw, monsterbots, sparkabots, triggerbots, firecons, triggercons, and any others that don’t specifically fit anywhere)

verdict?

EDIT: anything that needs more specific clarification i have in column 2, so stuff in the "other" class doesnt really suffer:

There are also Real Gear (deluxe?) and Robot Heroes (crud), and the Crossover lines such as Star Wars and Marvel that I think have different price point labels.

Just trying to help and confuse you. ;)
