G1 Transformers Chess Set

Something we were talking about last weekend at the Sydney meet - does anyone know what happened to the G1 Transformers Chess Set that was supposed to be released back in 2007?

It was being manufactured by a company called Sota Toys. BBTS even had a listing for it at the time.

The approx. retail was going to be US $300 which is a bit steep, but I would have preferred this over the movie one for sure.

First time to have seen that chess set, prolly didnt get a manufacturing license from HasTakTom which is prolly why it never saw production. Otherwise, 3 years is avery long time just to conceptualize a final product which is a mere chess board game.

Robot heroes chess would be so cute and cool though! And they fit on the squares properly so need for a bigger chess board! Following Goktimusprime's list below we are a few figures short still to make a full chess set, so substitutions are in order, hehehe.

Yeah but it would be cheaper to set up. Just buy a big chess board and use the toys you already have! :)
