Was there ever a reissue of Shockwave?

Hey guys, I just won this on ebay:

And I was wondering if anybody could tell me if this is a reissue?, or at any rate, if Shockwave was ever reissued?.

Well, if it is a KO, what would be my standing as I've not paid for it yet would I be able to back out of the transaction as I was under the impression that it was an original?, or would I be likely to incur negative feedback?

This is just my two cents on the auction:

"...Electronic and sound work well..."

"...leg is metal part..."

"...check details for the pictures..."

Grammatically these sentences don't sound very correct. Seeing as though your seller is from the UK I would like to assume that they could at least write their own language correctly into coherent sentences. The point I'm trying to get across is that in a lot of auctions for KO TFs is that there is a certain laxness in spelling and grammar which is more often common than not.

Remember that it is against eBay user terms of service to sell counterfeit items, so that person shouldn't even be selling KOs in the first place. I would contact this person and say that it's come to your attention that the product is a fake and that you thought it was genuine. There was nothing in the auction description to let you know it was fake, and furthermore it's against ebay ToS to sell fakes, so it's perfectly reasonable for you to assume it was genuine.

Report the matter immediately to eBay and see if they can cancel your transaction or arrange to have your money refunded.

Be aware that even if the original Shockwave mould hasn't been destroyed or lost, it is a NON Takara mould which has not been acquired by Tomy and as such will probably never be reissued. Other such moulds include:
+ Jetfire
+ Deluxe Insecticons
+ Deluxe Autobots
...but a lot of Takara/TOMY-owned moulds have been KOed too, so be careful.

Well I've contacted eBay and notified them of my situation.

They've stated that I must wait for the seller to return my correspondence and that I should discuss with the seller the situation and that I should request that they issue me a cancellation of transaction request and go from there.

They've stated that if the seller doesn't respond in 3 days or cancels the transaction but issues a strike against my account, to contact ebay and they will further investigate the matter and if they determine that the strike was unduly posted that they would remove it.

The annoying thing is I should've seen this a mile away but I guess one makes mistakes when you've slept for an hour and your bidding on an auction at 4:00am in the morning.

The other annoyance is now I've got to play the waiting game as I have sent him notification that the item is a Knock-off and that I wish to have the transaction cancelled, but as he may not be aware himself that the item is a Knock-off I will hold back on posting negative feedback myself.

Man I hope this goes smoothly but I suppose every buyer, especially a collector, has to go through this at some stage. :(

And to make it even more suspicious, they have their feedback listings set as 'Private', preventing anyone from seeing what they've sold before (to see if they have a history of selling KOs).

See, if these suspicious things hadn't popped up, I would have suggested that it was just a dealer who themselves got duped, and didn't realise it was a KO. But since that is unlikely, I'd definitely not pay for the auction, and do as ebay says to keep your own profile intact.

This is why I hate counterfeit TFs - so many people, even fans, get fooled so easily, spoiling the fun for real fans who thought they had the real thing.

I agree with griffin, even though KOs might be cheaper, the quality of the plastic and functions of KO figures is so abysmal you feel shame for buying them rather than pride that you saved many dollars.

Thank you very much guys for the your help and opinions, I am so very glad that 1AZRAEL1 convinced me to join the OTCA forums as I would never of even realised that this Shockwave was a fake, not to mention what to look for in a fake.

Again, thank you all for your collective knowledge and wisdom, the transaction has since been cancelled by the seller and agreed to by myself with the guidance of an ebay support member and the seller is now under investigation.

Thankfully this has gone through quite smoothly and as the seller was the one to initiate the cancellation of the transaction, he is unable to put a strike against my account.

I definitely agree with you SkyWarp91 as some eBay Seller's most certainly are MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE!, but I'm also very annoyed at myself for not being more thorough in reading the listing but also not looking at the seller's feedback and what not, I wont be making that mistake again in a hurry. :p

I looked on highendtfs and there wasn't a link to Shockwave. But through searching, I still uncovered the other link for him and showed him. i was jealous of his shockwave, but glad it worked out in the end and you didn't end up buying that KO.

Shockwave reissue is never possible now. The mould disappeared long time ago.

The KO shockwave and real one has a mould difference on legs, a closer photo post here I will be able to tell. For example, this is KO:

That doesn't seem to be the same knockoff, or at least it's not from the same run. It has a purple gun cover, grey hose and the whole toy is the wrong colour purple: as if you'd need to look at the legs to know it wasn't a G1 Shockwave. :rolleyes:

The 'purple barrel' version is made by the same KO company that did the more accurate grey barrel one. It's supposed to be their 'anime version' :rolleyes:

G1 Shockwave's popularity was totally unexpected by hasbro. It seems no one took special care on this toy ininitally.

The mould was shipped to Korea then after some time shipped to China then disppeared, officially :rolleyes:.

Believe or not I once talked to a guy who knew the G1 KO boss directly. This guy taught me how to distinguish the shockwave KO. It is very easy and very difficult (basically impossible) for unhonest people to fake it.

If you see anyone selling shockwave on ebay, ask them provide a front view photo of upper leg area. Sorry for my limit English here. Regardless its grey barrel or purple barrel, the upper leg area will simply show the difference straightaway.

Most of my G1s are from regular stores (Kmart, Target, MyerGrace Bros etc.)... but that was quite some time ago. :p ;) These days I usually get my G1s from trading with other collectors or from collectable fairs.

The Nexus Fair is your friend (as are your fellow Perth-based collectors :D). :)

My main sources of G1 has been Transformerland and Ebay. Occasionally I will buy from fans on this board or non affiliated TF private sellers.

out of curio, does anyone know if the electronic gimmick for the KO Shockwave works like the real one? Ive handled the Gray Shackwave and of course my real one and they do both have the "Thorp and Magnoid" sound effects, so just curious if they did the same for this KO version.

It does work like the 'real' one... although the volume has been turned up a bit. Hint - wear ear plugs :D

I have had a Shackwave, an even cheaper one from the easter show and a G1 real one. All have worked like the real one. Same sounds and ALL ARE SO LOUD!! All shockwaves have a real large speaker in the back.
