Not bad - It looks comparable to the first Japanese release but includes the crown which to me actually makes it better.

Also note that the sharp claws and teeth haven't been rounded down for safety.

Let's hope the local price tag (if released here) is worth it.

He really does look awesome and the word of a Hasbro release is the only reason I've not bought the Takara one as of yet.

I hope this guy is under Target's MP-04 price-tag of $200.00, but Toys 'R' Us will probably attempt something similar as unjustifiable as it may be.

I hope it is around/under $100 like the MP Seekers have been in Australia

One can only hope, but I wouldn't count on it. Magnus was around $130 I think, so we may be in luck. Though I already own the TakTom version, I doubt I will buy this one. Looks nice though.

Think I'm gona avoid retail stores once this hits local shelves. I'd be so tempted to buy it......

On a similar note, I've noticed the taktom MP Grim has pretty much halved in price on ebay these past few months. This will prob drop even more once the hasbro grimmy is released.

This looks awesome. I've been saving for him since I heard earlier this year we will see a local release.

Also note that the sharp claws and teeth haven't been rounded down for safety.

Hope it stays that way. This is more of a 'collectors' piece than something you would give your child to play with.

Hmmm, He looks good , hope they sell em here in retail. I didnt buy it coz I didnt like his scale with the other MPs but if he's cheap then I might consider but ill lump him in the Classics/Universe shelf instead:D where his size fits just right. They really should issue out MP dinobots hehehecomplete the set why dontcha...

I think he is pretty gigantic next to Classics. The problem is that his scale is either too big or too small.

Masterpiece Grimlock is perfect. If there's any problem with scale, it's that all other toys are the wrong size.

He's just right size wise to Classic IMO. Ive been reading Grimlock13's photocomics at TFW2005 and thats where Ive seen that his size fits correctly with the Classics line. He's supposedly taller than Prime if you base it from his appearances in the toons too. Prime measures up to just his shoulder, but it could be more. Prolly only up til armpits:)

He looks good. I'm debating whether i should buy the hasbro one or get the TakTom one as i like the card and booklet that comes with them. An upgrade kit will settle the crown issue. Then again i have no money to buy it anyway.
Well one can dream

I thought we were talking about MP Grimlock, not Drift ;)

Ooh, looks nice. Here's hoping it'll come out here. =) It probably will be pretty dear though... TakaraTOMY's version sold for 13650JPY ($167) -- so I wouldn' be surprised if the RRP here is around the $180 mark. For $230 I can buy the TakaraTOMY version from a local import store... but it wouldn't have the crown. I guess I'd pay $190... but if it exceeded $200 then I'd wait for a sale.

Btw, I remember MP Ultra Magnus selling here for $80... or was that a sale price?

Damn, I musta got ripped. I got it as soon as it came out at Target, and it's possible $80 was the sale price. Oh wells.

MP Magnus was the 3rd toy that I got as a collector. I remember it because I bought it along with 10th Anniversary BW Megatron and Optimus Primal but when I got home I realized that someone had swapped Magnus for some other random toy!

I was really annoyed because I had bought that Magnus from a Target far away from where I lived and it was the last one and I didn't want to bother driving all the way back but then I was told that I could return it at any Target store. Thankfully Target Miranda had one Magnus left and I managed to exchange for it.

Naturally I checked the contents before going to the check out. Phew!

$80 was a special promotional/sale price at Target not standard RRP, and that was for straight Takara Magnus's that Hasbro must have got a hold of.

If were getting the full Hasbrodisation here + factoring Toys R Us, then I doubt we'll see that happen again any time soon.

Actualy I think Grimlock is better scaled with the MP seekers and Binaltech than some of the other MP's. Its Prime, Magnus and Megs who are to big. :D I know Prime was a big fellow but I don't recall the other Autobots only only being as tall as his groin.

The American fans had a short tease today, as the US TRU website had MP Grimlock listed as 'in stock', before it was quickly changed to 'temporarily not available'.

It does reveal the US price - US$60 - to give us an idea of what it might be priced at here. That would make it about AU$80 here, but expect AU$100 when TRU gets it later this year.

what a rooster tease! At 60USD I'd expect it to retail here for 120AUD. But that's still pretty good considering that TakaraTOMY's version was 13650JPY, which is equivalent to $136.50 for people living in Japan. So taking that into account I'd be willing to pay $120 (but naturally I won't complain if I can get it cheaper :D)

I think that it will be more in the realms of $150 if TrU gets it.

Yeah, remember when we first got the Hasbro Commemorative series here in OZ - around $80 each from TRU while the US fans were paying approx. AU$30-40.

I'm sure TRU will have us bent over again when MP Grimlock is released

I think regardless of the price this guy's going to disappear from the shelves.

I Concur. Hasbro's MP Starscream didn't last a week despite dozens of them. I remember because I almost left it until the next week before buying one because there were so many - I am so glad that my impulse buying mode kicked in :o

Who knows... MP Starscream did fly off shelves - but I remember MP Magnus and Convoy w/ trailer was in stores for quite some time. MP Starscream was released during the Xmas period too, which would have helped. Also there would have been a lot of collectors buying Hasbro's Starscream because they were unhappy with Takara's "Greenscream", whereas I think most people who have TakaraTOMY's MP Grimlock seem to be satisfied with the toy. If I already had TakaraTOMY's MP Grimlock I don't think I'd splash out on a Hasbro version just for the crown. But it's worked out well for me -- the main reason I didn't get TakaraTOMY's MP Grimmie was because it came out just before my daughter was due to be born, so I was pinching pennies. As a big fan of the G1 comics it works out well that the Hasbro version is coming with the crown.

And I don't blame TakaraTOMY for not including the crown with their version since it's not as familiar to most of the collectors in their market. A small niche section would be familiar with it, hence the limited exclusive 'comic book' version (which mimics the awful colouring of Nel Yomtov). So I think Hasbro's version has the best of both -- G1 toy colours and the crown. :)

Damn this thread is getting me excited. :p

Wow... he flew off shelves around Xmas... even by New Year's he was totally sold out around my area. Oh well, the slower movement worked out well for you since you got it on sale. :) :D

They are still in some Toyworlds. Saw 2 next to MP Skywarp at Toyworld Southport last week. First time I'd seen both Hasbro MP Seekers next to each other anywhere (I never bought the Skywarp one).

I got my MP Skywarp 2 weeks ago from Toyworld in Port Macquarie. Maybe it depends on the 'area' as to how fast it sells...
