Over the weekend I won 2 auctions.

1. Beast Wars Grimlock with Backing Card

2. Beast Wars Video Repaint Razorclaw with Backing Card

When these items arrive in the next fortnight, I'll have finished collecting Beast Wars figures.

I'll have them all, with packaging, and 100% complete.

None of the Fox Kids junk or the Mutants of course, who would want them. But all the normal run figures.

It's been a hell of a ride.

However, I thought I'd reached this point before. Back in the day, I only sought out the 30 character figures from the show. But once I reached that goal, I was saddened by the fact that I'd never actually seen all of the figures, even in my days of trading and selling. Figures like Bonecrusher, Manterror, Transquito, all the ones I'd avoided I ended up seeking out and now own and am proud to do so. I even dabbled in some of the Japanese stuff, outside of an X-9 Ravage.

So am I really done? Will any of us really ever be done?

I look at the Henkei versions of Cheetor and Dinobot and think 'maybe one day'. My decision would be spurred on of course if a voyager size Rhinox is released in the same line. But after those 3, would I be done again?

I look at my HH Rhinox statue and am sad that it's the only one of its line to be released. Will someone have the balls to release a set of statues like it? I sure hope so.

I have no doubt that I will still stalk eBay religiously, I've been doing it for too long to stop, it's just a force of habit, but what I'll be looking for exactly is beyond me.

Just thought I'd share some thoughts.

:)When they get bored of doing MP G1 we can hope they'll hit the Beast Wars line for some MP treatment;):)

I'd like to see MP BW TFs with some kind of 'realistic' animal hides... like maybe some kind of rubber for dinosaurs, reptiles, pterosaurs etc. (like the G1 Pretender Monster shells) and synthetic fur for mammals (like MotU's Grizzlor). :) The idea of having articulated beast modes would be awesome too. :D

True, but you know Hasbro never ceases to :rolleyes:amaze us with what they think a figure should "be" be it masterpiece, deluxe, legends or otherwise...

Um... Poison Bite and Icebird are two of the best Transformers ever. Everyone should want them.

Congratulations on reaching this milestone in your collection, Verno. You may be done for now but there is no shame in going an extra mile.

I also first started out with the intention to only collect the show figures but then the opportunity came around to buy more (You were a big help in that, Verno :)). One of the big motivators to get the 'extra' figures was the first 4 issues of the IDW comic.

I personally see my BW collection as complete and I am no longer seeking more - However this does not mean that I will not buy a figure I am yet to own if the opportunity arises.

It's certainly bittersweet completing a collection - relief in finally having them all, but sadness at not having anything else to collect. I can relate to your urge to again expand your collection parameters, just to have something new to collect.
But yes, it just never ends. :)

You could give them all to me sell them and start all over again...:p

Failing that, have you considered the rest of Japan Beast Wars (lions and penguins and snakes, oh my!)? The G1 Predacons? A horde of G1 Insecticons? Can you recreatePossession with a WST Starscream (and a Unicron for the flashback)? Or The Agenda Episode 3 with MP Prime/Megs/Starscream etc? Your BW universe may yet be incomplete!:D:eek::(
And would it kill HasTakTom to release a Star Upper someday?

No, they really aren't. They are unnecessary.

I already had the figure, I was just after the card. I think the one in the auction is damaged on the heels but I'll assess that when it arrives.

Um... Poison Bite and Icebird are two of the best Transformers ever. Everyone should want them.

I've owned Poison Bite, twice, and was unimpressed both times. They should have stayed as Animorphs and not poluted the TF waters.

I'll agree with you there Kup. The draw to the toys for me was always in the association with the character, perhaps why you and I only sought the show figures to begin with. But the comics added a new dimension for me and a lot of others I'm sure. Who can look at their basic sized Razorbeast the same way anymore?

I've no connection with the Japanese characters nor any desire to watch the cartoons. They would fail in comparison to the genius of the 3 CGI seasons.

I did pick up Big Convoy, Lio Convoy and Magmatron however, and any future re-issues, I'll be looking to Takara as their quality and attention to detail seems far greater than Hasbro's. I only got the US 10th Ann. figures to get Transmutate. I sold them afterwards and picked up the Japanese versions. They are beautiful.

As for the G1 stuff, it's not like I act out the episodes so I don't really need them, even a Ghost Starscream, though it looks good, isn't really in my sights.

I guess I've put parameters on myself, but I've expanded them from time to time. I don't own the 10th Ann. deluxe sized Optimus and Megatron, though it clearly says BW on the packaging. But look at them, they simply don't fit anywhere. So I'll skip them. The Classics/Henkei versions of Cheetor and Dinobot however would fit in quite nicely, because the look is, although different, still in the vein. I own a sealed Tripredacus Agent, but don't really need a loose one to play with cos I've already got TM2 Cheetor and an X-9 Ravage. And I can safely say I'll never want to track down the Dawn of Future Past BotCon stuff. Pfft.

For me now I guess it's a case by case basis. The new figure(s) has to fit in with the over-riding 'feel' of the line for me. I'd love to see Hasbro/Takara take the technological advancements in the past 10 years and apply them to some new BW figures. The chances of which however are small. But I continue to be a fan.

Animorphs are part of the Transfomers waters anyway.

I've no connection with the Japanese characters

And yet you have connection to "all the normal run" Beast Wars figures that you've collected? How can toys like Retrax and Jawbreaker be more attractive than... say... Longrack or Heinlad?

I should have said BW waters, not TF waters. They are still terrible none the less.

The comics have helped in fleshing out those characters. I know the Jap figures featured in the comics too but I still feel no obligation towards them.

Maybe I'm just TF Racist.

Why can't the Beast Wars Mutants get any love? I want them but have always had a hard time finding them. I was intrigued the first time and only time i came across them at the shop. Parents wouldn't buy me one so i've dreamt ever since

...because a lot of people aren't fond of a Transformer with no robot mode? Granted it was a bold and interesting concept... but I wasn't hugely fond of it. I do like Beast Changer though (I know he's not a Mutant Beast, but the concept is the same).

...damn you're young. :p

Well, if you want I can bring Poison Bite and Razorclaw along to this Sunday's meet in Parramatta if you're coming.

I've got 98 loose toys. 44 Originals, 10 Fuzors, 13 TM's, 17 TM2's, 1 BWII, 2 BW Neo, 1 Metals and 10 Reissues of different types.

I then have 27 sealed items, they are all show characters. I missing TM Optimus Primal and TM Op Op but I don't really feel like I need them.

The Mutant Beasts have faces though. It's tragic that they although they cannot transform to robot mode, they still possess bizarrely misplaced heads! Plus, they're much cleverer than your average Beast Wars toy - it's much easier to design a toy that transforms from an animal to a randomly designed robot than it is to have one that goes from one recognisable animal to another one.

The Mutant Beasts were by far the best thing to come out of Hasbro in the year 2000.

Congrats, Verno. I know the feeling from when I finished US G1 a couple of years back. Strangely, I haven't moved onto another area of TFs, instead I buy the odd "upgrade" or "miscellany" (such as the remaining Minispies recently). There's nothing wrong with being "complete", it feels nice and is cheaper (:
