ACToys have posted pics (http://bbs.actoys.net/read.php?tid-481762.html) of Hasbro's upcoming TRU-exclusive MP Grimlock in-box. That looks like a really nice display box.

:)Depending on how you like to display your TF's if your a MISB collector this may be a better choice for you compared to the Japanese boxes;)

I think it would have been better if Grimmy was displayed in 'bot mode.

Agreed. I can't say that I am a fan of this packaging.

But for Non MISB collectors its really a none issue.

Meh. If I bought it, the box would look nice in my bin.

The only boxes I keep these days are what I havn't opened, or encore. I'm not a fan of the new style that keeps insisting on adding advertising for other toys on the box.

Box issues aside, I can't wait to see MP Grimmie in local stores! :)

I was lovin the presentation until I saw the 'also available leader class optimus prime' side. That just kills it for me. :p

Also "Electronic Lights and Sound", what sound is that? Does he come with a talking display base?

I noticed the stringy thing securing Grimmy in the last pic.. Are Hasbro moving away from twisty plastic ties to twisty string ties?

I disagree. If I was 10 and I saw a robot or a robot dino I would go for the dino.

Looks nice, just like Starscream did
Although I do like the Takara packaging just a bit better.

Glad the crown is there and not the stupid tray/apron/glasses.

Though I still haven't opened my Takara Grimlock.

I totally agree... Dinobots are way cooler than robots! :D The packaging is great!

Apparently they are. Emvironmentally friendlier..

The dino mode is probably more recognisable to the average lost fan (older folks that lost their way from the TF Path). Pus kiddies are more likely to wanty a large robot T-rex. I would.

I dont see that, just the lighty gimmick.

Nice to see he has stats on the pack. Only let down for me is the movie Optimus on the side. Maybe another G1 esque, version of a toy would be nice, despite the fact its the wrong timing.

Hmm I much prefer the MP box over that strange creation. Also a little bummed he ships in Dino mode. The main reason I want another one is to display him in both modes. Now regardless I will have to transform either one to robot mode.

Why oh why do joints have to weaken with every subsequent transformation? I've only ever seen my Takara Grimmy in robot mode once, and that was over a year ago now.

The side art is pretty cool though.

Interesting choice to display him in alternate mode. Personally, I would have prefered bot mode. I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that Grimmy mostly appeared in Season 3 of G1 in Dino mode (because isn't that what this figure is based on). One of the reasons why I disliked season 3.

Quote from Hasbro (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/a-new-twist-with-transformers-twistties/17732/) at Botcon 2009 -

We are looking to move away from them and moving towards smaller packaging which is more biodegradable. In the future you’ll see smaller packages with Tam, which is easier to cut and biodegradable.

Yeah, they've been doing it for some time now. As Tetsuwan Convoy said, supposedly for environmental reasons. They look harder to untie, but I haven't tried -- I just use tin snips which slice through the strings easier than through twist ties. So it's been a good change so far.

fark... are these guys going to be TRU-exclusive only??
does that mean they will be ridiculously priced and shelfwarming for ages??

btw, i love hasbro's move from plastic/metal twist ties to the paper version.
They are much easier to undo by hand.

And probably easier to cut with scissors :p

And also less likely to scratch the plastics of any figures.

Didn't MP Starscream only last about 1 week as a TRU exclusive? I know it shelfwarmed at Toy Kingdom/ Toy World... but that was much later. MP04 shelf warmed at Target and was eventually clearanced very cheaply. I also remember hearing that MP Ultra Magnus moved very slowly from the shelves of Target.

I guess there isn't much of a market for these toys in Australia. I'll be glad if TRU stock it at all.

MP Starscream was decently priced though.

Starscream was $100 at TRU... I was hesitant, but ended up picking him up.

Was a long, long time before he was re-released for the Aussie market at Toy World/ Kingdom. Most stores had him for $90, but I know at least one that kept the $100 price tag... he did not move very fast at all.

Was it $50 as part of a sale/ clearance?

Yay for MP Grimlock! And nothing to do with anything, I just wanna say how jealous I am of anyone with MIB Centurions. Lucky Sonofagun.

To be honest I haven't even seen Skywarp in a shop... maybe I should venture out to some more Toyworlds? The one I go to never had that toy, probably because they are the $100 Starscream stockists..

I've been seeing MP Skywarps showing up at a few Toyworlds in the last few weeks, so could be a recent acquisition for them.

Been at my local for a few months now. But if they're "showing up" at other stores, well, let's hope they clear them soon. :)
