Thoguht we should have a MU Thread. Im sure there is a few of us collecting.

Sightings, New purchases etc.

I am happy to say I went to my local toyworld sunday arvo and picked up a Luke Cage. Must say that figure is great! and the packaging looks awesome!

So currently I have Hulk, Red Hulk, Daredevil, Blade, Punisher, X-Force Wolverine, Spiderman, Human Torch (Flame Version), Cap, Iron Man, and Silver Surfer.

My most anticipated, Galactus!!

I'm in agreement!

As I posted in the hauls thread, I have Extremis Iron Man and he is almost perfection.

I'm just concerned that no new waves will surface here for a long time. No stock ever moves.

Oh, and I see some news too. Apparently Iron Man 2020 and a Giant Sized X-Men box set have appeared on Ebay. Pics here:

http://www.thefwoosh.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=96&t=66045

I get a very "customed" feeling from the box set though.

gantz
2nd June 2010, 10:34 AM
Extremis Iron Man I cant wait to have!

From those pics, I def get the feeling its a custom. The Wolverine is from XMO, just cant be sure, although the Iron Man has to be a custom, I think that because there is no name on the display stand.

Meangreen

We shall have to wait for some more official news. For what it's worth though the seller is apparently known for selling legit but stolen DC stuff in the past.

Regardless of custom or not I'd actually be quite interested in buying this set. Good characters and in good scale to each other as well (I'm looking at you XMO Wolvie re-use).

Would love to have the Storm figure. Hasbro needs more female characters imo! Fingers crossed for some Runaways in the future!

Ha! Was waiting for that question. I have never been so conflicted on wether to open figures or not, its so hard to decide!

But no, I leave mine in their packs. The reason becasue its not a generic packaging, they all have their on pics on them etc.

The only one that was opened was Silver Surfer, but only cos my gf absolutley begged me too!

Hopefully hasbro has an idea to release a 2-pack of Ghost Riders, if not classic perhaps a 'The Last Stand OF The Spirits Of Vengeance' 2-pack.

Heh, I'm mostly in favour of opening all my toys, but I must admit, this line is the closest I've ever come to keeping some figures sealed. They just look so good with the card art, especially the artist from the Fury Files run.

I keep the cardbacks but it's just not the same...

Oh he's about $50 or a bit less, loose nowadays. I got mine from Parramatta fair years ago for that price. Last fair they were selling loose MLs for $5each , loose. Deceptics took a bagful, only ones left were uninteresting. I was only after a nice looking Wolverine, sadly there was none.

I recently found in my local Uncle Pete's a Comic con 3 pack ML - Savageland

Guess that Iron Man 2020 wasnt a custom. Although why would Hasbro choose something like IM 2020 over other choices?!

Meangreen
8th June 2010, 03:44 PM
I don't know, I'm pretty happy with the 2020 Iron Man. It's nice to be getting one of his more fanciful armors. Most of the other obvious comic accurate suits seem to be set to pop up in the IM2 line anyway.

I have to say that I quite like the looks of Constrictor. Moreso that a lot of the other recent reveals at any rate.

foor
8th June 2010, 07:29 PM
Yeah, very excited for Constrictor. More villains the better!

Iron Man 2020 is a very odd choice. And I would have thought they'd release him in the Iron Man range too rather than MU.

I don't think it's that unreasonable. After all, the figs did come in a specially moulded tray. Generally most early production samples seem to come like this, just look at Transformers. The packaging is probably an entirely different step in the production line, so that box design can be edited for different markets, etc.

Ah, nice pics Gantz!

It's nice to see packaged pics of Blade and Daredevil, I never saw those ones at retail.

They look so nice on card that I'm almost beginning to regret opening mine. I think I will have to design a swanky display stand in order to do mine justice.

I never realised that that Torch had individualised packaging though, very cool. The only torch I want to get though is the one from the Invaders box set. To me that looks the pick of the bunch, even if it's a different character.

Apparently Hasbro will be reissuing the harder to find figures (Vision, Jean Grey etc), so finally be able to get them at non-inflated prices.

In total waves the first Hammer wave is the same as MU wave 6. I think most people still count them sequentially anyway.

I have been reading this thread sneakily at work just before I leave and I think it has finally got me to start collecting MU.

I am a Wolverine collector more than anything and is what I have gotten back into but all my wolvie figs are marvel legends, I was concerened about the scale difference as well as the price.

The Dark Woverine has me pretty excited though (in the two pack). This is the only official Daken (wolvies son) figure to be released yet and I do want it lol I am annoyed I missed the X force Wolverine from the first wave (i think?) as that is the only x force wolverine figure to be released. I am interested in a few other figures too.

Knowing my luck though the ML figures rumoured to be released next year will probably make my MU purchases obsolete.

Heh, Hasbro may give victories, but they're usually only small ones.

Look for X-23 well into next year I'd say. As for Archangel? He'll be exclusive to those who subscribe to Marvel's online comic service. But you can blame that one on the people who voted him into that position!

Unfortunately I'm a bit fuzzy on whether or not non-americans can actually subscribe to the service. The situation was the same for the Nick Fury they offered last year, I think most people had to resort to ebay.

It's true what you say about the line getting so big though. My advice is to cherry pick your own cream of the crop. The ridiculous price of 3-3/4 figs and the lousy sculpts of early waves taught me that much...

I am a completist as much as I try not to be, by not being able to get x force archangel I doubt I would bother getting the rest of the team. As it was stated earlier, great way to create disinterest. That is unless I can spare rediculous amounts of money on one from ebay...but then I have issues spending over a certain amount on a 3.75 figure lol

Jean grey looks nice as does the card art, always had a soft spot for her, definitely my favourite ranga :D

I think Death Archangel is a running change. Apparently all that hit the shelves in the US are death variants, while the e-retailers early on got the regular versions. I could be wrong though. The X Force Archangel would go for a pretty penny, as the regular and death versions people really are paying more than retail for.

Sadly nothing. What makes it worse is that my K-Mart has been clearancing their meager stock. By that I mean the sole Iron Man and Green Goblin nobody wants, for $11.00. That's usually indication the product has been discontinued in the K-Mart system.

Very sad. But Target still has them full priced, so I'm still holding onto some small hope.

I prefer that costume too, that is what he wears in X factor these days aswell but with a trench coat too, so they would definitely have to include the trenchcoat.

Has anyone regretted their decision buying this line? With Legends now definitely coming back in 2012 anyone scared this line will be forgotten or overshadowed?

There's still time left to see the wave he's from though. It's only barely showing up in the U.S. as it is.

As for regretting the line? I can't say I do. This scale is my scale of choice.

I don't think the line will be forgotten either. By all accounts (and distribution aside) Hasbro seems to have faith in it. The return of ML will probably still be a fairly limited one I imagine, with MU continuing as the (relatively) cheaper option.

hmmm I think you have valid points but at the end of the day we are all just guessing.
This unknown has left me a little bit hesitant to plunge head first into collecting this line in the fear that Legends will be back and once again I will be able to buy figs in a scale that matches everything else I have already got instead of starting again.
I know of ppl who will be ticked off if this does happens though, as some of you would too. We are talking of the ppl who got rid of their legends line collection and started again with universe, I would be very angry indeed.
in all honesty though I still haven't bought any despite trying too, all I can find is green goblins and hand ninjas mostly, none of the figures I really want.
I had a look at ebay but prices are ridiculous on there.

I highly doubt Legends will ever be back. F*** they even had most of the same ones at this years SDCC as last year, and Im pretty sure the year before that, its a dying line and Hasbro are to cheap to truly continue it imo.

Have you checked out bigbadtoystore?

Thats the wave with Mardox, Ghost Rider etc. Its $78.90 AUS for the whole set, and shipping is $28.95 AUS

Whelp, still nothing new on this front.

I did go on a road trip though and found a forlorn, beaten, and clearanced Ben Grimm. I couldn't help but add him to the collection.

Thanks for the compliment! I like taking my simple pics and slowly improving my hand at it. I think it adds another dimension to how I enjoy action figures.

I do like Poe's pic of the day too. It's nice seeing the sheer variety of toys it touches on. Something that can't be done with reviews. Hmm, Maybe...

:) Thanks for the welcome guys, and sorry for the late reply! I went back into my Target today, and they had actually restocked with more of the same wave. They had like 6 of Extremis Iron Man!

Still holding out hope that this is the beginning of more waves to come. I didn't actually realize in my first post that Sub Mariner and M Spiderman were a part of that wave revision, which means we probably wont be seeing a Jean Grey or Vision any time soon. But hopefully we do start seeing Archangel's and stuff.

As you guys hopefully know, $10 MU's at target from I think next Wednesday.

Did anyone get anything good? Merely curious.

Anyway. NYCC is this weekend and it seem that Hasbro is debuting more MU and also the Captain America 4 inch movie comic line.

So much good looking stuff, including new Winter Soldier and Bucky Cap, Cable and even the giant size X-men 6 pack :D

I put every MU figure i saw at Target on Laybuy, along the Spider-Man series figs i wanted so that's Thor, Luke Cage, Namor, Black Widow, WWII Captain America, Bucky, Extremis Iron Man, Ben Reilly Spidey and Carnage. all for ten bucks each. yay. That Galactus looks very nice as well. I may be getting him off ebay.

Awesome. Carnage is pretty exciting to hear about, and for a good price too.

More Captain America comic was also shown today too, including U.S. Agent, Crossbone and Captain Britain.

Here's a few pics of the lats heroes to join my collection.

Juggernaut is a totally amazing figure. He looks and feels perfect, like they managed to translate his comic presence exactly into plastic.

Gladiator's quickly become another item of interest for me. Is it just me or does his cape look suitable for a certain, well known, Sorcerer Supreme?

It's very pleasing to see the ball and cut thigh articulation on the Captain America line too. It definitely works the best in my opinion. I just hope the Cap line produces another Union Jack too, it seems more than likely to me in any case.

Well, in the aid of posing and photographing my MU I recently got two Obitsu Multi-stands (shown here) (http://www.hlj.com/product/OBTMLST-A01C). They took a while to get here but they're definitely worth it, I'm pretty sure even deluxe tf's would be easily supported by them.

Anyway, I decided to show off some new aerial acquisitions with them.

Also a Stealth Iron Man, with what I think is really beautiful paint. He really disappears in shadows unlike the bright blue stealth suits.

Im building the Dark Avengers. So Iron Patriot will be the first to be opened, then nab a few the comic 2-packs to round out the rest. Not a real problem for me with those, as I dont appreciate the art etc they place on 'em.

I see I see, I'm skipping Dark Avengers myself. Apart from maybe Dark Hawkeye as a regular Hawkeye stand in.

There is apparently a Moonstone Ms. Marvel coming at some stage. It's not out yet but it snuck into a convention pic a while back.

Definitely thinking of importing the new wave, but I figure I am going to try and catch up on a few of the older ones that I need first. There is always time for next years waves, next year :p

I have noticed that the Targets near me keep restocking with the same stuff. People are definitely buying the figs, but there is nothing newer than the Thor/Extremis wave. Luke Cage is the biggest shelfwarmer, and there are like 10 Bullseyes.

Finally got my hands on a Flame On Torch from Wave 1. He is awesome, but due to the rarity of him now, he may stay in his packet.

They're totally great stands eh.

I'm glad to see that they're at least still being stocked where you are. I've seen no movement for nearly a year now.

Although I have seen movement in the Spider-man line. I found the Carnage wave a few days ago and had to grab ol' red venom. I'd still rather be finding the main line though...

http://i379.photobucket.com/albums/oo232/Bullfinger/Random%20Toy%20Pics/Carnage.jpg

Carnage is actually pretty sweet. He has decent hips and a fair amount of articulation (compared to, say, Star Wars figs). Unfortunately his red is rather more pink as well. He still looks good though.

I just thought I'd show off Iron Spider-man to you all.

He's the only figure I needed from wave 9 so it's good to be able to mentally check a wave off.

It feels good value for what is essentially a repaint with extras. One of his legs continually falls off but he makes up for it with the cool waldo arms.

Anyway, I'm not actually over excited about wave 13, I'm iffy on Cable and Apocalypse. Cyclops is a must though in that classic costume. Also I like the character of Gladiator, He's basically as powerful as superman but his strength relies on his confidence. I can gladly skip first appearance Wolverine.

How come you're skeptical of Apoc and Cable?? Cant wait to get my hands on Askani Son, and that cute little baby Hope!

Ive been reading x-men for a while, and the latest Cable on-going in which he raises Hope which tied directly into Second Coming, so I guess my optimism and excitement for the Cable figure is somewhat biased...

Ahhh Marvel Select! Havent regretted a single purchase since buying my 1st, which was Green Goblin.

The figures themselves are fantastically detailed, most have the 16 points of articulation, which is enough to put most of 'em in great poses.
Some though, well, are a little harder. Example being Black Cat, but the sheer novelty of her huge boobs totally makes up for it lol.

I have the Modern Thor, get him, you will not be disappointed :D

So far I have:

Green Goblin
The Incredible Hulk
Modern Thor
Iron Man (2008)
Iron Man IV (movie)
War Machine (movie)
Black Cat
The Punisher
and obviously Magneto and Juggs.

Really super excited for the up-coming Gambit, and my gf has ordered The Thing.

foor, dude, they're awesome!!!

And the new Moonstone sculpt looks amazing. Will get on posting mine this weekend :D

Also, guys, BBTS have posted new details of the Super Hero Team Packs, they're MU and 3.75, no pics yet, and only team names, no details of who is included:

Thanks Gantz! I'll post a few more soon. My MU collection is exploding out of control with no shelf space left. Hence I change my display from time to time.

I wonder what those packs at BBTS are. I hope they're going to be 3 packs for that price. But I have a suspicion "Classic Avengers" 3 pack means the usual repacks of IM, Cap and Thor... :(

Yeah I 1st heard of 'em @ Toyark a few motnhs back. I am more interested in the X-Force pack, but that could be any of the teams, there have been heaps!

I'm pretty sure that's them. I plan on getting the Avengers for sure, might try to get a loose x-force wolverine too. Heh, in actual fact the Avengers pack is a sneaky 5 pack if you think about it.

By the way. Nice Dark Avengers foor.

Hey guys, here's the pics I intened to post on Thursday night. My camera batteries went flat. Typical of the luck I've had this week.

The 1st pic is Series 1, then Series 2, then the other 3.75 Hasbro stuff I've got in pic 3.

Originally I was going to everything, then money got really (REALLY) tight so I decided to just get the figures I liked, then I started trying to get any and all the villians I could find (which wasn't many :( ) then I lost the plot and just bought whatever I could find cheep.

Anyway, here they are:

Nice collection there MechB. You've got a few there that I wouldn't mind getting my hands on, namely Titanium Man. Are you ever gonna free them?

Also, I got bored this afternoon.

Needs more X-23, Wolverine, Domino and, err, many more Elite Vipers.

I saw those in Targets around Sydney in September, but at $18 they were too expensive for a poor New Zealander and now even more so.

My trip to the Austrailian Toy and Hobby Fair last Sunday was a bit of a bust. I got there much later than I intended and it finished eariler than it was supposed to, so I only had an hour and a half to do what I normally do in three hours.

Like Griffin said, the Hasbro stand had some increased security and was more like the Toyworld display (which you cant even get into unless you work for Toyworld). Dispite being a retailer that sells Hasbro products and because I didn't make an appointment, they didn't want to even let me look around.

I talked my way in anyway.

So, the info you've all been waiting for! Yeah, they pretty much had the same display for the Thor & Cap A figues as they did in the US (although I do like the Austrailian layout better). One important thing though... no Marvel Universe figures on display at all. Looks like Hasbro have given up on the line in Oz completely. The rep I spoke to was pretty candid about stuff which was nice, he said that Oz just didn't have the market to support every wave, let alone every line that comes out. (I should point out that because there was no movie this year, there was no Gi Joe either)

Oh and I did ask them about about how they plan to market the Cap & Thor stuff considering how little support there was for the MU line (and Wolvie & Iron Man for that matter) and the response was? We are going to let the movies support the line with only some minor instore & catalogue support. So there you go... another massive company that thinks their shit is going sell itself. Expect a repeat of the Wolvie & IM experiance.

As for the rest of the fair this year, it was completely disappointing. Don't expect any new mind blowing toys this year. (Although some of that new Lego stuff is awesome). Everyone was basicly peddling the same stuff as last year.

HA! NiceOne!

Total shit about future MU lines hitting our shores, but a fact I seem to have come to terms with subconsciously, we knew it wasnt looking hopeful...

Also, weak about the promo for Thor and Cap, or lack there of.

Hmm, not a single surprise there. At least I know I'll be able to pick up what I need from the first waves of the Cap line further down the track, and for a fiver each, just like Iron Man 2...

Smooth moves though Mechbiter.

It's part of the MU line. The giant comes with a comic Loki and Goliath is packed with Cloned Thor. It's the same deal with the Giant man and Giant Skrull packs a year or so ago.

That's the problem... my collection has completely lost focus, as I pretty much grab whatever I can find, when I find it. I think I'm going to have to just give up and BBTS everything from now on. That Sentinel is too good to miss out on. I think I'll focus on Villians first, then Mutants, then everything else.

I've finally set up a BBTS account so after I get past this weekends shenanigans in Melbourne, I'm getting me a Galactus and a Sentinel. I'll probably get the Avengers set but I'm not sure if I'll bother with the X-Force set. How about you guys?

Unfortunately the Sentinel inst available yet, should be in the coming months, make sure you get you some Galactus love, that figure is amazing, and the surfer aint bad either.

I am still waiting on my new ones from Previews (cable wave) once I do though, PICS!!!

Def need the X-Force pack, although it truly is stupid they couldn't include fantomex or pyslocke, as the warpath featured is painted in the n new x-force colour, a team he is not apart of.

Anyone could be better than those three, just give us a character we haven't gotten yet! I already have Warpath and Wolvie in X-Force colours and really just want the Deadpool. 1 out of 3 isn't a must buy for me, so it's sadly a skip.

Considering getting 1st app Avengers set too only for 1st App Hulk. but don't need another Thor.

I just hit my local Target and it's 20% off all Superhero toys, so Thor and Iron Man toys are going out at about $14 and the Marvel Universe figures are selling for about $7.50.

If anyone sees a MU Blade, MU Moon Knight, MU Hobogobin or any MU Hand Ninjas can you let me know? (or any of the other harder to find figures)

Mechbiter, you said you run/own/work for a comic book store?

Correct on all 3. :p

Do you ever order from Previews??

Every month... but we do it indirectly via a larger comic supplier based out of Melbourne. As a result we don't have complete access to everything Previews has on offer and one of those things we miss out on is the toys. We used to go directly though Diamond but we were too small for them to care about us.
