The Holy Grail Toy Scout Thread.

A lot of Ozformers are still looking for their 'Holy Grail'. My intended purpose for this thread is to help each of us to find our Grail. In this case, the thread would be ideally used for Grails that are the type that we constantly seek but can never find, not so much a toy that we just don't have because it's bloody expensive (e.g. Grand Maximus.) So there should be two basic types of posts in this thread:

1. people posting their one* Holy Grail, and
2. people posting sightings or offering to sell their own spare of said Grail to the seeker. (Or alternatively they could PM the seeker.)

*As in religion/mythology, you can only have one Grail at a time, but once you have found yours you can always go back and edit your post with your 'next' Holy Grail. Also, a Holy Grail could even be a single part or accessory, it doesn't need to be a whole toy.

Does that make sense?

In my case, my holy grail is a Japanese jigsaw puzzle recolour of Beast Wars II Lio Junior (Prowl from Magnaboss). I don't mind if it's the black/red or the white/yellow version, and I don't care if it comes with or without the puzzle. I've just been searching for him forever, so if anyone has any leads or has one to sell, please help!

Mine's similar. I want the 2004 Actionmaster G2 Breakdown. I almost nabbed him on eBay a couple years ago, but lost out by $1

There is a section where you can put in what your after, a link to a picture of the item and what your willing to pay. You pay a small commision but they are very helpful, They search the Japanese auctions and if they find what they think you are after will send you a link of the auction for you to say yes go ahead and bid for me or no it's either the wrong item or to expensive. The area you want is Item Explorer request to put all the info in for them to hunt down an item for you, They have Paypal but not sure of other payment methods. You will need to register your details with them but not sure if you'll need to do this before they find the item for you but I don't believe so.

Check out Automorpher's sale thread on TFW2005. He has a MIB and MISB Star Saber for sale. I think he's selling as a set with Victory Leo (MIB and MISB also). But why not get both, since you will want to form Victory Saber at some point in time.

My "holy grail" at the moment is Galaxy Shuttle MIB (and I know one or two guys here who have that, *hint hint*).

My holy grail is not a toy but the posters that came with issues 320-322 of the Marvel UK comics. Everytime I find the comics on Ebay, the seller confirms that the posters have been removed.

Oh, and if anyone does have or know where I can get these, I will also pay handsomely: D

The S.T.A.R.S. Base was by far the hardest, probably due to being just a bit of cardboard it was the least likley to survive 25 years later.

Personally, I have next to zero interest in lucky draw items, one exception being God Primus, which is not hard to get (I just have to decide to pay the price).

There are so many golden/lucky-draw toys now that it isn't as special anymore. But prices are still more than they are worth, so very few people are interested in an overpriced 'statue' (hardly a toy if it is too fragile to play with).

It's the one and only Lucky Draw I would want at the moment because it does actually look like Primus in the Marvel UK comics (well, since Primus was basically modelled after Roddy Prime at that time) and it has more than one shade of metallic chrome. It's not entirely gold or entirely [insert chrome colour], but some effort has actually been put into this.

Yeah, its been 10 months I spent looking for a Galaxy Shuttle...

I actually came across Artfire in HK in April. MIB, C10 box, everything unused. But asking price was $950 which I think is slightly too high for this piece since its very much just an Inferno recolour and not a very nice recolour at that (kind of the same issue I have with Metrotitan)

My grail is a C310-E Fire Guts God Ginrai. I have never owned a Powermaster OP but the colours on this brick just woo me. I don't think he is unobtainable for me but I'll need a minor payment plan. I think he would display nice in alt mode infront of a standing Unicron of Light and Big Blue Convoy (don't be silly, of course I don't).

true. a bunch of mini grails...... in saying that, by the end of the month postage permitting, i will have completed my beast machines collection... so i guess if you look at it that way, my grail was to complee the beast machines figures...

I'm with Sharky - with the Australian dollar at a high, over the past few weeks I've been checking off potential holy grail after holy grail like they're take-away cups of coffee. So all that's left are extreme holy grails like Lucky Draw Beast Wars/II/Neo/Metals items or hyper-rare international releases like Puffer from my avatar.

Yeah the strong dollar has been a great time to buy, especially with a lot of beast machines toys not getting a regular release over here, strika, hammer strike terannatron rapiicon, even the beast riders... I picked up all 4 vehicles for under 20 bucks total and the general shipping charges are less painful when you not compounded by the dollar difference.

I don't really know why i had a bug to finish off the Beast Machines Line, but I had a little fun tracking down those US released figures and i look forward to putting it all together for some collection pics when they all arrive in the mail..

And hursti at the moment I do not have a lot of room to display my collection so the BM figures will get displayed for a photo session and then put in storage, but I am building a house and I get a whole room to deck out in cabinets... Can't wait for that.

No, as Puffer himself says:

I have finally found and secured issue 321 of the UK Transformers Marvel series!!!! The only thing that I don't know is if it includes the poster that I am after (I'm too nervous to email the seller to ask). I'm leaving it as a surprise and if it has it, then my search is finally over :D

This has been my holy grail for years and my quest has come to an end. It's hard enough getting any of the issues post 300; it's almost impossible to find them with their free gifts still attached.

The way I think of a 'grail' item is that it's the penultimate of collectables and nothing can surpass or replace it. Some people probably think I'm a bit crazy making a poster my grail, but I never really explained why.

Collecting Transformers to me means reliving all the things that made my childhood great. This poster is equally important to me because I use to have it stuck above my bed when I was a kid and I use to just sit there staring at it. Now that I have all three posters, it brings back a lot of memories for me.

It's absolutely huge too. It measures 125 x 55 cms. I'm not looking forward to getting quotes on how much it will cost to frame it.

I collected all of the UK issues from about Target:2006 (issue 80-something?) up to the final issue, but I don't recall the posters.

Maybe someone nicked the posters from the issues at my local newsagent :confused:

You only neglected to buy Poison Bite and Razorclaw at retail (Soundwave and Icebird weren't sold in Australia and thus have always been more difficult for us to get.) And they are great toys.

Poison bite is an awesome toy, even if there's no bot mode, the 2 beast modes are very interesting and fierce looking - I bought mine from Skyshadow a few Parra fairs ago :) Love it!

i dont have many grail goals for the year!!

This year for me is more about setting up the collection room rather then increasing the size of my collection.. and since the whole kit and kaboodle is packed up and away and the dreadfull release schedule of DOTM toys i have managed to save up for a couple of nice glass display units. (Deltofs of Steroids!!)

So i will finally be able to do a set up and stocktake of the collection!!

throw in a Minty Complete G1 Wheeljack and Sunstreaker into the mix to round out my duplicate first year car set and i dont have much to really chase down this year.

While I'd be beyond ecstatic for a TFA Minerva, let's be honest...It ain't gonna happen. :p Therefore, this is the next best thing for me now that good old Tropisteron is hooking me up with an Elite Guard Prime. :)
