Exclusive to Japan Toy Hobby Market, pre-orders from 24/06 until 1/08, slated for release End October 2010

This guy does look pretty cool, I don't have this figure but I don't expect I'll be picking this bloke up as his price will probably be equal to or greater than the G1 Retooled Unicron. :(

I don't really like it. I think the robot mode is kind of plain and boring. The bright blue doesn't work with the silver. The planet mode is kind of the same. Bright blue poking out and the silver looks kind of dull. If the actual photos look better, then it would be a maybe

I havent read the comics so I dont know much (if anything) about him. But what do you guys think about the whole Primus storyline? Do you feel he's a good addition to the transformers world, enough to make a toy this big out of? Or would a lot of you see this character the same as you would...oh...i dunno...Drift? :P

Your opinions would help make my decision :) Keeping in mind that I have pre-ordered Unicron repaint.

The new metallic paint on the planet surface is very nice and shiny... but maybe a little too shiny to be displayed side by side with the new Unicron toy. The older Cybertron/Galaxy Force Primus might be a better match for the new Unicron. I'll get this new Primus, but will keep the old Primus also.

I'm a bit iffy on this repaint. I prefer Unicron being repainted and slightly remolded.

I hope someone manages to make a giant Primus face - just like in the Marvel Comics :)

Don't lose hope yet, i think they've just done a bad job with promotion of these figs.

First, the TT site shows 4 slots with Unicron as #2. Then he pops up elsewhere as #4, and then 5 was mentioned, then 7.

Stealth edit: just got my wife to translate this old Dengeki Hobby scan - she says 7 products in the 2010 lineup (first paragraph).

Nice repaint, but as repaints go, very pricey. I'm happy for those of you who don't have the mould, although I'll pass.

The planet mode looks nice, but not impressed with the robot. And ultimately it is just a repaint. Great news for people who don't have this toy (although it is a limited exclusive) - but yeah, a pass for me.

Im not feeling the colours - bot wise. I prefer a detailed paints of the little details not just generalized silver everywhere ... ah well good for those who missed it the first time.

If you look closely, the shoulders have a section tinted blue rather than silver, plus there are gold and bronze accents everywhere!

I'm thinking in person this will look stunning (ala Buster Prime and MP08X) but as Kyle said, i'm not sure how well he'll display next to the comparatively duller greys used on Unicron. Just having the whole thing painted instead of coloured plastic will bring out the sculpted detail much better (again, like Buster Prime)

I'm not getting Unicron myself, so that doesn't bother me!

Looks like there are 2 more 2010 products after all (http://www.takaratomy.co.jp/products/TF/products/2010/lineup.html) - The final box noting New Masterpiece.

Wonder what the other one is though - being worth 3 points like the Masterpiece... 1 more than the planets...I read some opinions that it might be a Megatron reformatting redeco, but i don't want that cop-out instead of a real Galvatron!

My guess is Predaking... since all those rumours from a few months back have slowly been coming true.

Right now the only place is through ToyHobby (http://www.toyhobby.jp/common/special/trans.html). While you can pay easily enough, shipping is to Japan only.

There is the chance that he'll be a general release in Hong Kong as appears to be the case with Unicron, and thus the usual online stores might carry him.

Ghost Starscream doesn't appear to be officially part of the 'line' despite being a good match for the setting.

If you can save 10 points from buying various pieces, you can get the base on the bottom of this page (http://www.takaratomy.co.jp/products/TF/products/2010/lineup.html). Not much motivation to spend hundreds of dollars if you ask me!

I wonder if it's the light (or of this is a painted prototype?) - but to me it kinda looks like he's been panel-lined on the light blue areas. Either way, i think this pic much better shows off the spread of colours than the promo pics.

The robot mode looks too blue to me. Like a big robotic Smurf god. I also don't like the look of the orange wingalings on Unicron. Yeah, I know it's more G1 accurate, but it looks too bland. I prefer the grey on the Armada toy which contrasted better with the rest of the toy. The rest of the toy looks really nice though - love the orange and greys and non-transparent chest. Too bad that right hand is still transparent though (the light up hand is really something I could've lived without).

Ah well... I have no interest in getting either toy as I'm quite satisfied with my Armada and Cybertron versions. For anyone who already has the originals and is intending on getting these versions, I'd like to see side-by-side pics on the comparisons pic thread please. :) Or if anyone wants to bring 'em to a Sydney meet, I'll bring my originals and we can take comparative pics there. It certainly wouldn't be the first time I've taken comparison pics at a food court. ;)
