It's pretty crap that the line is over and all, especially since I tried to complete it as best I could. But I want to figure out what loose ends I can tie up.

It looks like I need to try and get:

Rodimus Minor
Arcee
Blackout
Electrostatic Soundwave
Freeway Jazz
Wingblade Optimus
Jetpack Bumblebee
Cybertron Mode Ironhide

Is there anything I've missed on this list? I think there may be a Bulkhead repaint or something that I've neglected.

Sorry to revive an old topic, but better than starting a new one on the same subject. I kind of went into hiatus on trying to track down what was left in the Animated series but I've come back around to it. I've now picked up the final American releases such as Arcee, Rodimus and Cybertron Ironhide/Ratchet, and I know I need to get JP releases like Blackout, Wingblade Optimus, Jetpack Bumblebee and Soundblaster (Activator). I also managed to pick up the JP Skywarp and Ramjet Activators.

But I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by the amount of stuff still out there - Black Rodimus, Black Optimus Prime, Elite Guard Prowl, the Sons Of Cybertron set. Then on top of that there's all the neat Botcon stuff like Cheetor, the Stunticons set (which I absolutely love), the Autotroopers, Fisitron, Toxitron and Sideswipe.

My question is really where the line should be drawn on what is a 'complete' collection. I know that's entirely up to me in this context but I'm interested to hear the opinions of others.

Doubledealer

My idea of a complete TFA collection is every characters Hasbro release (full scale for each toy bar BB where my preference goes to the activator) and the following:

-Custom Wasp made from an Activator Bumblebee (my favourite TFA character, I couldn't imagine my collection without the little fella)
-All Botcon 2011 toys (as average as I find her bot mode, I really hope Minerva gets a commercial release...It's a horrible feeling knowing how unattainable this characters toy is :()
-TFCC Cheetor
-Takara Blackout
-Takara Soundblaster (deluxe)
-Takara Activator Ramjet (nice going finding one, this is still on my to buy list)
-Takara Jetpack Optimus & Bumblebee

As for toys like Elite Guard BB, Prowl & Prime, Black Takara Rodimus, the clear toys etc. I think they're ugly and pointless :p

Wasn't Springer a fan-made custom? The Botcon toys are expensive but if you love TFA and can afford them, they're totally worth it. If you can't afford all of the toys, my advice is to go for just the box set. The Motormaster & Breakdown are ridiculously cool and the best uses of each respective mould in my humble opinion.

The way I see it, buying the Botcon toys is a win-win situation. If you ever regret buying them, chuck them back on ebay and you'll get as much, if not more than you paid for them in the first place. You won't want to sell them though! :D

As far as I can tell, there is no deluxe Soundblaster, just an Activator. It's basically just an Activator version of Electrostatic Soundwave by another name.

PS, Thanks mods for moving the topic.

My collection is "complete" to me when I get all the characters that appear in the cartoon/movie itself. And a couple of selective ones that I really like, like Wingblade Optimus Prime and Jetpack Bumblebee.

It's expensive to buy toys that you don't really like just to complete the collection. Maybe just get the ones that you really like and you can focus on completing your "other collections" too. :)

I made a list of all Animated characters that appear in the series.
Cybertron mode:
Bulkhead
Bumblebee
Prowl
Wasp
Sentinel Prime

Decepticons:
Strika
Spittor
Cyclonus
Slipstream
Dirt Boss
Mixmaster
Scrapper

Autobots
Elita-1
Warpath
Yukitron
Brawn
Dion
Red Alert
Omega Supreme
Rattrap
Perceptor
Wheeljack

And many more I can't think of now and who will probably never see the light of day. Which means my Animated collection will never be complete and this is annoying cause I loves Animated :(

Every TF cartoon, comic, and movie has TF characters that never have toys doesn't mean you can't complete the toy collection that accompanies it.

I think you could call your TFA collection complete if you have vrything Hasbro released. The BotCon stuff is additional but falls into a limited exclusive category in my mind that is a bonus to the collection not a key part of it.

I've actually tried to stear clear of muying much animated, as I hadn't seen the series and apart from getting a couple characters, Jazz especially, I didn't want to start something that would cost more in the long run than sticking to my other transformers collections.

Now though, since I did go to Botcon and get the box set and previously watched all of animated in preperation for Botcon, I've got a lot of animated figures and I really like them. I have been steadily purchasing animated figures since before the start of the year. The engineering is quite impressive and they look great. Prowl is my favorite motorbike of all transformers motorbikes at this stage.

As for completing the Animated collection, I don't think I will ever get them all, I tend to pick a preferred representation of a character and stick with that one. I now seem to also have a need to ensure I have an even number of Decepticons and Autobots on my shelf, this causes me to perhaps miss out on a figure/prioritise which figure I finish off on, to make sure the battle is on fair standing:D

I think this is a good list and I agree with everything on it. The Soundblaster difference is subtle, so I think the Hasbro one is fine there (although I do have a Takara ACTIVATOR Soundblaster).

Fortunately for me, Fisatron, G2 Sideswipe and Toxitron from Botcon 2011 did not make my list. They're characters from different eras, were never feature din the fiction, and are utterly hideous.

Toxitron is pretty hideous at first, but after you look at him a few times, he becomes more attractive. I think they deco'd him really well, I'd say my least favorite of the whole lot is shattered glass Galvatron, largely because of the mold, but even that one's pretty good.

Fisitron is great though, love his design. Sideswipe is pretty good, doesn't hurt the eyes like other g2 inspired stuff/.

GoktimusPrime
12th July 2011, 01:42 PM
I think Toxitron was intended to be a Bizarro Optimus, but of course, the name and concept of Bizarro is owned by DC - but I think it's suggested in the tech specs line "a bizarre duplicate of Optimus Prime" -- and just as Bizarro is like the opposite of Superman in many ways, it seems that Toxitron is the opposite of Optimus Prime.

Bizarro has the same abilities and powers as Superman, but some of them are 'reversed' (e.g. freeze vision instead of heat vision, vacuum breath instead of super breath, vulnerable to blue Kryptonite instead of green Kryptonite etc.) - Toxitron has some traits similar to Optimus Prime, most noteably both have exceptional physical strength. But a lot of Toxitron's features are reversed to Animated Optimus Prime, e.g. Prime's cannon can shoot fire retardant chemicals, whereas Toxitron's cannon shoots corrosive chemicals. Optimus Prime has a high intelligence, whereas Toxitron has a 'stunted intellect.' Toxitron even drives in reverse. :p Also, Bizarro is meant to be ugly, and I'd say that was the intent for Toxitron too. ;) Toxitron was created as a failed experiment to 'artificially' create a warrior in an Autobot shell - Bizarro was created in an attempt to clone a Kryptonian (Pre-Crisis Bizarros = clones of Zod, Post-Crisis Bizarro = clone of Superman).

RE: Fisitron's function... "weapondry"? So... his function is to dry wet weapons?? Or does someone note know how to spell 'weaponry' (possibly the same person who can't spelly 'nemesis'?). ???

I love temptation! :D

For me, it's like this:

Fisitron was/is a bit tempting.

Sideswipe would be HUGELY tempting if he wasn't G2 colored. Can you imagine that toy in a nice, solid red? But both him and Toxitron (even Fisitron a little bit) seem to be part of this fan love of grossly coloured G1.5/G2/Shattered Glass toys that just do absolutely nothing to float my boat (quite the reverse actually).

My distaste for Toxitron is only compounded by the use of the voyager class Pig-Nose Prime mold, which I already have little-to-no time for. Their decision to use that mold for Motormaster almost made me boycott the box set. I don't even use it to represent Optimus Prime in my display because I dislike it so. (Cybertron Deluxe FTW!)

As to whether I'd count the Botcon comic as fiction, if it's sole purpose wasn't to unite this latest round of disconnected figures with the pre-existing fiction, I'd give it more credence. Are Galvatron and Thundercracker in the comic? If so, that would definitely discount it as not having any merit in my world.

Gosh, I miss Animated. It's a shame that it seems key folk at FunPub aren't big fans and this will be their last use (or so it has been theorized).

No, Galvatron and Thundercracker are not in the Animated comic. Having listened to the comic performed by Transformers voice actors, including David Kaye as Optimus, helps elevate the story and characters a bit more part of the continuity, but it is a case of "you had to be there".

All Animated fans should read The Stunti-Con Job. It's written and plotted by Marty Isenberg, Derrick J. Wyatt and Matt Youngberg and is supposed to fit in with their plans for Season Four - most interestingly (for me) regarding the roles of Sentinel and Optimus.

Actually I was just thinking what a better ending to DOTM might have been.
