RULES

+ Questions may be relevant to anything that's not related to Transformers. Let's keep things tasteful though. :)

+ All questions must be posted as MULTIPLE CHOICE. You must offer four answers for players to select from.

+ The person who asks the question has 36 hours after posting his/her question to confirm if anyone has correctly answer the question. If no-one has correctly answered the question within that time frame, s/he may ask another question or delegate someone else to ask a new question. In the case of passing the go to anyone (i.e.: free turn) then the first person to post a new question is the new question asker. If the original question asker has not responded within 36 hours of posting his/her question then their turn is forfeited and it becomes a free turn.

+ After answering a question wait for the preceding question asker to confirm that your answer is correct within 36 hours of having posted your answer before submitting a new question.

+ Players are not permitted to privately or publicly consult each other for answers - this is not cooperative play!

+ Players may only submit one answer at a time. Where two or more correct answers exist, this is acceptable, but speculative multiple answers are not allowed.

+ Players are NOT permitted to submit questions that they do not know the correct answer to!!

+ After asking a question, a player is not permitted to answer the next preceding question posed by the winning player. This rule is to prevent the game just being bounced constantly between two players. It may be overruled if the winning player decides to pass on his/her turn ('open floor').

Rules subject to change if any need arises.

...so these are the names from the dub?! Eeww... Oh well, at least you didn't get the epileptic-seizure inducing episode. d:

P.S.: in future if you're requiring an answer which comes from a translation where the answer significantly deviates from the original source, please mention it in the question. (:
e.g.: "According to the 1980s English dub of Mighty Atom (Astroboy), who created Astroboy?"

Anyway, with all that clarified now, it is indeed i_amtrunks' turn next :)

This is an Australian message board for Australians who primarily watch English language versions of cartoons. For 99% of people on this board they would think of the english versions of Pokemon and Astroboy when hearing those titles. Nobody should be expected to specifiy dubs like this.

If somebody wants to ask questions about Pocket Monsters or Mighty Atom they can and should use those titles but don't expect many people to want to play.

GoktimusPrime
29th March 2008, 04:44 PM
I have never watched Pokémon dubbed, so I have absolutely no idea what the dubbed names would be.

In any case roller's question and i_amtrunks' answer have been revalidated (and i_amtrunks has already posted the next question), let's just move on shall we.

GoktimusPrime

You're right - so it's your go.

Funny how you said that it's definitely not A when D is absolutely wrong!

Chloroplasts are cell organelles, but they only exist in plant cells. Midichlorians are not organelles, but rather microscopic organisms that live inside cells. With a sufficient amount of midichlorians in a host organism's cells, they collective act as a sensory organ and allow the host to perceive the Force, thus making them Force Sensitive. Such hosts are able to be trained in the ways of the Force such as the Jedi or Sith arts.

Lord Zed is the winner!

King Bradley is actually a Homunculi, a soulless creature created from the remains someone attempting a Human Transmutation.
His differences are many:
He is not only a villain, but he also has no soul, lives off Philosopher's stones, cannot perform Transmutation's and instead his power comes from his Ouroboros tattoo.

Full Metal Alchemist really is a top series, I suggest giving it a go. The Manga it is based on is still running so the difference between the manga and anime is quite dramatic.

I'm afraid Roller lucked out on this one. Pulse gets major Kudos for finding out about the infamous Saw Viper unfortunately his source is technicaly wrong.

While 7 Joes died in the incident involving the Saw Viper, 3 of those Joes were killed when the vehicle they were esaping on was blown away by a Cobra armoured column. While the Saw Viper was there, he didn't actualy pull the trigger. The Saw Viper did however personaly kill the Joe medic Doc with a HMG burst at point blank range to the head, and then went on to mow down the Joes Thunder, Crankcase, and Heavy Metal who were all unarmed and traped in a ravine trying to shield thier comrades.

So yeah the Saw Viper was a really nice guy.

See here for a more accurate account.

Thanks Mate :) When it comes to finding frivolous information, I'm your man :D.

From the link - I've highlighted the address:

"Animated sitcom in Day-Glo colors, about 20-somethings living in Mission Hill, the swinging section of the city of Cosmopolis. Andy ( Voice of Wallace Langham)was a wannabe cartoonist who worked as a salesman at Ron's Waterbed World. Sharing his cavernous loft apartment at 44 Bow Street were 2 roommates, the red-bearded, deep-voiced Jim ( Brian Posehn) and flower child Posey ( Vicki Lewis), an asspiring masseuse. Carlos, Natalie, and their baby ( Herbert Siguenza, Vicki Lewis)lived across the hall, and aging gay roommates , Gus and Wally ( Nick Jameson, Tom Kenny), were next door. In the premiere episode Andy was saddled with his annoying younger brother, Kevin ( Scott Menville), a super-smart but nerdy high-school senior ( he wore his S.A.T. scores on his T-Shirt) who moved in when their parents moved to Wyoming. Stogie, the big, dumb, family dog ( Nick Jameson) arrived with Kevin. Gwen ( Jane Wiedlin) was Andy's sometimes girlfriend. When the waterbed store was shut down by the government for nonpayment of taxes, Andy struggled to find another job. This episode, the first half of a two-part story was the last one to air on The WB."

But I like this part the best:

"Dismal ratings prompted the WB to pull Mission Hill after only 2 episodes." Crying Shame... :(

Anyway :), it's question time again:

Which Power Boat Racer turned Engineer has had a massive influence upon Drag Racing with his engine blocks becoming the one of choice amongst generations of Drag Racers?

I think the answer is "B" Keith Black.

I think he held some kind of speed record back in the 50's or something. Pretty sure he did it in a boat.

I think the answer is "B" Keith Black.

I think he held some kind of speed record back in the 50's or something. Pretty sure he did it in a boat.

Plus Keith Black owning a speed record means the name pops up in all kinds of record lists!

You got it Iceburn.

Poor Don fell out of a Chopper with an evil cyborg warrior, fell god know how many hundreds of feet, and used the cyborg to beak his fall. near death himself, he merged with it, losing his shell in the process.

TMNT Volume 3 is some seriously weird stuff for the TMNT franchise, no wonder they pretend like it never happened.

Bingo!

The Warbird is a Romulan capital ship in Startrek, not a fighter and not crewed by Humans.

The other 3 are fighters from Baylon 5, Space Above and Beyond, and Battlestar Gallactica.

I'll say D: Four cause no ones taken it.

Technicaly though you got a glimpse of the Nazis in America in series 3, but you didn't find out they had invaded America till series 4. Series 3 and 4 enterpirse were rather impressive they were both mostly watchable.

The bonus question is obviously a trick question, as there's no right answer.

And Sisko is obviously way better than Archie. He's like the Samuel L Jackson of Startrek. Sure he's like cold tea, but the sorta cold tea that will pull your lower intestines out with is bare hands.

Besides its a little known fact that the Defiant class starships (as Commanded and worked on by Sisko) original name was "BMF class" as it owned any ship it was up against. Also it was originaly meant to be purple with Gold trim, but Starfleet thought that would be to intimidating for thier Klingon allies, and gave it a standard paint job and name.

Fungal Infection

Deep Space Nine rates as the best Star Trek series of all. Picard may be more diplomatic but Sisko has this no bullshit attitude which gets the job done.

roller

Naturally Lord Zed is correct

in some respects :) Sisko turns into a pretend deity and flys away into the wormhole. So whats he running away from? His son? His command? Real captains dont run away-real captains like season 4 Archer :D

A: Phantom Limb

C: King Gorilla

D: David Bowie

TheDirtyDigger

A. Phantom Limb

donald Bradmon was and is evil

You're correct Roller. The Don was evil.
Back in the day before immygrunts from everywhere was allowed in our fair nation, there was mainly only Catolicks and Proddy's of roughly equal numbers making up most the population of Australia (apart from some Chinee from pre-1900 and the Terra Nullians).
The Don, being one of the ruling class of Proddy's, tried to have all the Catolicks taken off and banned from the Australian cricket team. So evil.
You can bet John Howard was a Proddy from way back.

Lord_Zed
29th June 2008, 11:35 PM
While Phantom Limb did atempt a coup to sieze control of the Guild, he was ultimately unsuccessfull, and as suchy driven out of the guild, his assets given out to another guild member. Therefore the answer lies elsewhere.

36+ hours have elapsed. Awww...

The correct answer was #3, Fujian (China). Although Karate came from Okinawa, it was derived from Kung Fu from the Fujian province of China which is where the Sanchin form/stance originates from and is commonly used in Fujian Kung Fu styles such as Five Ancestors Fist (Wuzuquan). There's an obscure style of Fujian Kung Fu called Goroquan which is written in the same Kanji as "Gojuken" - and of course, Goju is one of the most well known styles of Okinawan Karate. :)

Video: Wuzu Sanchiem form (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yla9j0AangU&feature=related) - you can see the similarities to Karate's Sanchin Kata (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKbTp42z5yA). They even do the sharp breathing (although the music in the first video means you can't hear it but if you watch the guy's mouth you can see him doing it).

#1 Shaolin (China) is wrong. The one Japanese martial art that attempted to mimic Shaolin Kung Fu is Shorinji Kempo, although in reality they're two entirely different martial arts. Unlike the Okinawans who established links with the Fujian province and actually had like an exchange programme where they would directly trade knowledge, the Japanese monks relied on second hand information - images copied from fresco paintings on the Shaolin temple walls. And like Chinese whispers, the information became altered hence why Kempo doesn't really look anything like Shaolin Kung Fu at all. :p

Cornwall (England) is the birthplace of the forbidden Cornish & Lancastrian martial art of Ecky-Thump (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJxGi8bizEg). :)

Q: In architecture, what distinguishes a flying buttress?
a. semi-arches with the elevated end of the arch supports the wall and the lower end of the arch is mounted on foundations, or on pillars or other flying buttresses.
b. supports walls near a corner but set back from it
c. buttresses support walls at corners but are built diagonally out of the corner of the wall, so forming a 135° angle between the buttress and each wall
d. buttresses support two walls as they meet at a corner by making some length of both walls at the corner thicker than the remainder of the wall
