Pulse, I am a sucker for that one! But I usually scour the store before they need to talk me into it!

The feeling of spending unplanned-for funds has subsided today & the anticipation has kicked in - I'm getting a Silverbolt & Inferno!

Might end up selling it though because the sticker sheet is incorrect. Seller has offered a partial refund so I'll see how much he offers before I make a decision. Such a shame as this was only one of three items I needed to complete my G1 collection and its in fantastic shape.

I don't know how you're gonna get a sticker sheet for that. Reprolabels has squat & Demonbay has zilch. What if you just went without?

The funny thing is the sticker sheet this belongs to, Barrage, is currently enroute to me from the same seller with the same sticker sheet. And since my collection consists only of c8 or higher, 100% complete with stickers transformers, I can't go without the stickers which means it will probably be sold off.

'Tis the eHobby way

dirge
23rd April 2008, 10:01 PM
e-Hobby packaging is often fairly generic, and not toy specific. However since these toys represent the same characters as the standard Encores, they've just used the existing packaging.

I can understand why - it keeps the production cost down on these low-production-run figures. And when you consider that e-Hobby toys sell for retail prices, that saving is passed on to the buyer.

Pulse

Those 6 eHobby's must have set you guys back a goddamn fortune!

Oh :), in that case I wonder why BBTS jacks up their prices so high?

I'd say they are likely to pay more than I do, because they're probably paying import duties. Of course, they have to pay their bills and take some money home to feed the kids and such.

In that context, their prices aren't all that bad. BTW, in 12 months, you'd be lucky to find either toy on eBay for less than $100US.

This was my April Acquisition. I have a few more things coming and will update in May when they arrive. I think you guys will like it as I was amazed by this customiser. Learning from this dude too.

Here's the awaiting May items list:

Bumblebee Custom
Cliffjumper Custom

And this little beauty from my mate at Cyberfembot. This was a WIP pic he showed me of the figure I ordered. Still yet to undergo the Green G1 colour makeover.

Be careful with the axe. What we noticed is that the guy who made these has made the connecting pin a little too thick. I recommend sanding it slightly before trying to fit it into the wrist holes of Prime.

I was in Richmond/Windsor today on a work-related matter when I stopped into this store http://www.truelocal.com.au/business/the-toy-barn/richmond I hadn't been up that way in more than 6 months but over the years, I've acquired both Alt Nem Prime & Binaltech Blue Prowl from them (Sometimes you find pure gold in these "Mom-&-Pop Stores"). So when I popped in, I found this guy :). Being a reasonable price was all the excuse I needed, so Binaltech Swindle ended up coming home with me. :D

http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn204/Pulse_Warrior/Acquisitions/BinaltechSwindle-Transform.jpgThat's the flash doing that to his visor

He's Awesome! :D

Swindle's ended up replacing Alt Rollbar in my Alt/Binaltech collection (I know it's really frivolous but I want to keep my Alt's/Binaltech at an even number of 20) but not before Rollbar donated his chrome bullbar to Swindle as out-of-the-box, Swindle's bullbar was beginning to let the black basecoat show through (I ended up swapping the bullbars after I took the pics). I'm sure Alt Rollbar will find a good home when he's donated away to those kids in my street :).

I'm disappointed that I've posted this so late as it probably won't get as noticed as it should... Some of you might have already seen the artist's thread with pics anyway.

My First Custom

I recently acquired Protoform Prime. I had no intention of collecting either Protoforms, but the price was right ($15). Anyway, I was chatting with LCZ about how much I surprisingly liked the figure. He was on the lookout for the figure as well with the intention to paint. With that planted in my head, I thought about how the figure's finish really didn't do it justice. Here was this blob hurdling through intergalactic space. It shouldn't look so pristine and like dark blue plastic. It should look like worn metal. So, I cut LCZ loose and got a fantastic result!

Very late, but have been busy editting 256 botcon photos, and now working on the full report (mostly for my own records, but also for anyone else interested in reading it).
This photo is pretty much all my April Acquisitions, which is actually my 'BotCon Haul' photo. I only got two items in April that weren't from BotCon, which I guess could be a little disappointing, but March was a huge month, and I was really cutting back on TFs purchases before the big trip. The only two items I got in April that are not in this photo are Animorphs Viser 3 Ultra sized figure (no one will care if it isn't shown), and Time Warrior Watch (just a bit of merchandise most people either know or don't care... or both). :)

At the top - box to the convention set, RobotMasters 01 Convoy, Kissplay Worlds Smallest Autorooper with Atari figure, Anniversary Superlink Convoy with Kicker, BattleScene Bumblebee.
Next 'row' - Convention Comic, Animated mini-poster, Transparent BT Mirage, Worlds Smallest TFs Megatron Vs Optimus box, Ehobby Black Ironhide, BattleScene Scorponok, Animorphs box.
Next 'row' - Name badge, Postcard-sized flyer, Biocards, ANimated DVD, TFs post-it notes, Animorphs Tobias/Hawk, X-Dimension Space Team, G2 green Slag, Black RobotMasters Megatron, JP Beast Wars Returns Stryka (in show colours), Cybertron Poster.
The rest from left to right, going from top to bottom - Animated Starscream, 2-pack Optimus, Voyager Megatron, Prowl, Bumblebee, Lockdown, Bulkhead, WST Megatron and Optimus, Animated 2-pack Megatron, Deluxe Optimus, Premium Barricade, Premium Jazz, Premium Bumblebee, X-Dimension Street Speed Team (Blue), JP Beast War Returns Thrust (show colours), JP Paradron Medic (green Energon Arcee), BotCon Jazz, Botcon Ricochet, SCF Super Ginrai, SCF Victory Saber, SCF Grimlock, SCF Minerva, SCF truck mode Convoy, BotCon Rampage, BotCon Divebomb, BotCon Razorclaw, BotCon Rodimus, Optimus, Megatron, Bumblebee, Starscream, Blurr, Grimlock, Whisper, Sideswipe.
Looks like I didn't include the various comics I got over there as well, which included Trades/compilations of both IDW Beast Wars series, Spotlight Vol 2, Megatron Origin, Avengers Vs Transformers, plus the first issue of the Movie Sequel comic, Focus On Decepticons, Official Convention 2004 program Guide (one I didn't go to), GI Joe Vs TFs Vol 3 and half of Vol 4, and the Takara Visual Works book.

From last year's BotCon I brought back more Transformers items, but many were figurines like Robot Heros or SCFs, making this the best year so far with actual transforming Transformers. And that was despite having unexpected money troubles. :)

Looks like Griffin didn't get very much at all for April. I'm sure he could use a few more TFs.

Wowza! If you don't mind me asking, how much did he happen to set you back?

Oh & I happened to notice that you acquired no new late Japanese G1 at Botcon. Did you not find anything that interested you or you did but their asking prices were over-inflated?

Time Warrior cost me about $60. And there wasn't much to offer this year for JP Gen1. The two JP dealers who are there most years had heaps of recent stuff (like from the last year). Probably good that there wasn't anything there this year, because I wouldn't have been able to buy it.

That's one way of describing it. The set is both amazing (Autorooper's complex tiny transformation is almost identical to the BT transformation) and disturbing (Atari's unnecessary panty pose has me thinking about the perverted pleasure some Japanese sculpter had moulding the figurine and putting in all its curves and grooves). Not to mention all the depraved artwork covering the entire packaging, with multiple semi-erotic poses by the girl.
Glad that toyline didn't last long, so that collectors of Transformers toys didn't have to end up with too many of those weird figurines or packaging.

I'd still wish they didn't cancel the set with WST Kiss Convoy in it. :/

Well, it was just the one WST for Kissplay. But the odd thing about the toys released for Kissplay was the inconsistent variety. They had three Binaltech recolours (each with girl figurines that show off their underwear), then the WST and Atari figure (who also shows off her underwear) I got above, a 3-pack of recoloured Cassettes, a 3-pack of 'Sparkbots' eggbots (transform into spheres on keychains), and a black recolour of the Atari figure (doesn't come with the WST though).
For more info go here:

The Dodge Ram Convoy was initially to be released in WST scale as well, also with a bigger Melissa figure. It got cancelled due to low sales of certain items in the line.

A bit late, yes, but I finally got off my ass and took the pics from Aprils stuff.

Most of it was from Robot Kingdom (love that mob). A lot of the Galaxy Force I already have the Hasbro versions of but just wanted to get the improved/better paint apps on the GF versions since I love these figures a lot.

And you might notice that I'm a proud owner of a MIB Overlord that didn't cost me an arm or leg. :)

And Terrorsaur completes my Season One BW figures. From Season 2 I now only lack x-9.... :( And Season 3 I still need a fair few. I get this custom Terrorsaur for a very nice cheap price and probably close to what I'd have to pay for a normal one anyway. I'm very happy and it is substantially more show accurate which certainly helps.

Ah STL, Can I ask where did you happen to get that boxed Overlord from?

Was it through a friend of a friend of a friend or something like that?

Nope, nope. It was just very fortunate. 'Twas eBay who was my friend. A guy listed it at a very decent price and then had a make an offer. I couldn't really afford the decent price so threw in a cheap offer expecting it to be rejected immediately. To my pleasant shock, he accepted it. And the rest, as they say, is history. :D
