Aye, there's a damn good chance I'll be making a rare appearance at this type of event as well.

I don't like these festival sorts of things, but for those bands, I will sell my soul. I've been dying to see Rob ever since I got into White Zombie.

If Maiden appears then I'm guaranteed to be there.

When I first saw the title of this thread, I thought to myself 'what, they're reissuing Soundwave again' :p
Wow, that is some kind of line-up. Would love to see Stone Sour, Sevendust, 30 Seconds to Mars, Devildriver, and Slayer in the same show. That would be awesome.

This is the leaked line up, so we have to wait and see. It get's officially announced today sometime. But god I hope it is true.

Yeah I so hope it is true, even though I've seen most of these bands I so wanna go.... Damm that really messes with Saving for my Trip in December to Japan

I would swallow my spite for festivalgoers to see this lineup

Well, I think for Metal Heads this sort of lineup is a proverbial nail in the coffin for Big Day Out. :D
Being that it is quite a mixed bag of genres, I can see why people would wanna avoid the large crowds (certain genres of music I find have a barely tolerable fan base IMO), braving them for the likes of Zombie, who hasn't been here in near 15 years , would certainly be worth it I reckon.

I hope the bands I want to see have separate shows elsewhere, I'd much prefer to go to that than wait around at a festival.

Most likely they will. But you have to be quick to find out about it. Faith No More had a side show that sold out in 7 mins. And I didn't even know about it.

That's what I use to do. When Soulfly came here for the BDO in Jan 1999, I opted to go to their show at Coogee Bay Hotel instead. It was a lot better than going to the festival and having to endure all those other acts.
I just googled the year to make sure I got it right and found out they're actually going to be here next month.

I wouldn't have minded going, but I don't have the funds. Oh and for those that don't know, City Of Fire is Burton C Bells side project with Byron Stroud from Fear Factory. Can't say I have heard their stuff though :p

Sydney line up
http://www.soundwavefestival.com/info/sydney
there is still a lot of space there, on 4 of the 6 stages.
Iron Maiden, Slash and Rob Zombie are on the lineup page, but haven't been slotted into the stage times yet.

The Sydney line-up looks to be HUGE with Faith No More, Trivium, Meshuggah, and even Glassjaw (always wondered what happened to them).
I propose a fan meet at Eastern Creek on the 21st of Feb :D

The important question is when and how to get tickets. From the site it says that member tickets go on sale Wednesday 18 August 9am for Sydney, while for the rest of us it's Thursday 26.

Damn good line up, I'm not a massive metal fan, but I recognise and like a hell of alot of those bands, and there are another half dozen that have been recommended to me that I have yet to hear.
Not sure if I'll go, I always manage to miss my favourite bands at these festival style concerts, but having all these bands in Australia in Feb means lots of other individual concerts to go to...

I personally love festivals and Soundwave this year was amazing. I'll probably buy a ticket, but if Queens of the Stone Age announce a sideshow, I'm going to that instead. I don't wanna bother with Maiden fans :P

Melbourne tickets are all gone, others cities will probably go soon too.

I'd love to go to the Sydney one but I really can't afford the expense ATM. Oh well, there should be some other great bands coming out here soon with their own individual shows thanks to Soundwave and the BDO.

I'd love to go to this, but something tells me that I'm not going to be able to find the money in time, especially with the other things I've got in the pipeline. :(

Well can you blame me? :D
Twice before Dimmu were supposed to come out, and both times they have had to cancel for some reason.
That and I missed Saxon on their previous visits, and am keen to see them live.
