Hey guys something happened that I thought was really awesome, i think. I needed a Rodimus Prime G1 wing but couldnt justify the prices on eBay and have literally been searching it for ages/years on different TF forums. Then out of the blue last week some guy pm me and ask if i still needed it
To my delight I said yes, I searched on his sales list and he had a Wreck Gar tyre which I have also been searching for ages. So I got 2 parts I needed to finally complete these 2 guys. It feels so good to complete my figures, especially when it comes to parts.
These other stories before I was on Ozformers and before the internet was available to me and before I had a car.
I searched everywhere for a Alternators Smokescreen around melbourne and I was at my last stop at a Toys R Us. Still nothing and then I looked up on the very top shelf and there it was the last one! Had to ask the staff to get the ladder to reach it. I was very happy that day :)
This other story was after watching the episode of Beast Wars with Tigerhawk in it I wanted that toy so was out searching for it but couldnt find it anywhere. I ended up at a anime shop in footscray and he had some TF's there but he only had the Megatron Dragon so I didn't bother to ask but my cousin walked near the backroom and spotted a Tigerhawk and he asked the owner if we could buy it, he said yes. I was also very happy on this day. :)
You guys have any stories like this I'd really like to know :) Funny how sometimes you stumble upon things like this :)

My best story would have been late last year when I struck up a conversation with my neighbour about Transformers. He had no idea that I collected them (despite it being fairly common knowledge in my street).
He said to me that he kept all of his childhood Transformers and they were all in a box in his garage.
Trying to hide my excitement, I asked if I could have a look at what he had. He came back with a large box and handed it to me. He said 'take whatever you want' (dangerous words).
When I opened the box it felt like Xmas 1985 all over again. Without going into all of the detail, the one toy that stood out the most was a G1 Reflector - complete, with all accessories, and in mint condition!
I ended up offering him some money to ease my conscious. Best day of my life - but don't tell the wife that
:D

YOUR SOUL or YOUR FIRST BORN!! hehehehe:D:D
sorry can't resist....
Nice one 5FDP!! How many figs were there if you can recall?
As for me , nothing special just good ol patience when it comes to sifting through boxes of parts at Parramatta fair. I only stumbled on the fair by accident really. It was around 2006 when I was going to Parra Phantom zone to buy comics one Sunday day off and lo and behold I found there's a fair going on. paid my fee and went in, best decision ever..... Ive since found oodles of guns for my G1 TF's which honestly some are quite pricey on ebay for such small items... TM partners, kup's musket ( i didnt even own a kup figure yet at that time hehehe), guns/missles for the 3 mail away cars, oodles of G1 missles, fists, Pretender guns and/or melee weapons, AM guns... Ive been addicted ever since and have made it a point to request the dates on "day off" from work, or if not file a leave. Even with more OTCA members now attending it since then Ive always managed to snag the parts I needed - like Broadside's gun, I found two, and sold off one to a fellow member here. A couple of my TFs have been completed this way - piecemeal purchases. Ive also learned to do pre-emptive buying since there were a couple of times I saw a piece for a figure I didnt have ... yet, so I didnt get it(Double Punch's feet), then ended up having that figure without that needed accessory, so in the end I kinda became a "parts man" buyer and bought what I could, if it looks like a Tf accessory I'll need some other time, its bought. Yah never know whose piece is it in the end, could be important, if not sell... and some of my fellow OTCA chums here have given me a heads up on what parts they needed as I do have developed a knack in finding it there at the fair - never hurts to have a extra set of four-eyes. :p
My last piece that I was reaaally excited in finding was G1 Streetwise's handgun, I bought my Defensor as a set in ebay and his is the only gun missing. Years after of no luck in ebay, then lo and behold sifting patiently in that shoebox of parts and weapons I spotted it, the tiny little thing just triggered an immediate recognition response in me when I saw it. I was trying to contain my glee from finding it, as this seller kinda has no fix pricing for his parts, I think he bases it on size. Got it for $3!!! and so after yeeeaaaars my Protectobots was completed!!:D:D I didnt actually buy any TF figures from the fair ( been like that for years now) itself as I do my figures buying - pre fair from other members here, but I felt really great that day coz I finally bagged this elusive piece. Still got quite a lot left of parts to search though.:D:D

Nice one 5FDP!! How many figs were there if you can recall?
From memory, he had - 3 x Throttlebots, Hubcap, Tailgate, Mirage, Sunstreaker (which 1AZRAEL1 now has), Wheeljack (which I traded to SOUNDBLASTER), Reflector, Razorclaw, Blast Off, Skids, and 4 x decoys. He also had Rodimus (sold to Jamie at the last fair), Hot Rod, Starscream, Goldbug, Laserbeak, Brawl, and Optimus... all of which I passed on because I already had them.
I tell ya, it was the next best thing to walking into a Kmart back in the 80's and seeing all the Transformers lined up on the shelves.

This is just random but I had a dream a few months back that I was in todays Toys R Us store and they had EVERY G1 toy there was back in the 80's and I grabbed 2 of everyone and put them in the trolley. I do remember asking myself is this a dream in my dream and it seemed like it wasn't but when I woke I was very dissappointed :p It seemed so real too haha!!
5FDP you luck bastard a minty reflector!! I haven't got that one but its expensive and with the KO's out I am wary of buying them on eBay.

Not a great story, but kinda I'm happy how it turned out. I had just finished Last Stand of the Wreckers before the Adelaide Toyfair, so I was kinda hoping to nab a few of the cast members while I was there, I would have been happy getting one.
I managed to get 4: Ironfist, Guzzle (the two I wanted most. SQUEE!), Topspin & Twintwist.

10 years ago when I was a member of AnimeUNSW, a fellow member came up to me one evening during a screening session and gave me a loose-mint complete in box original G1 Sixshot... for free. :)

For me a good story on how I've acquired a TF or TF parts that I really wanted was when a certain friend of mine was doing his very best to convince me to start collecting TFs with him, as it had only become known to the both of us that we both shared a common interest in all things Transformers.
Funny thing is I'd known him for roughly 8 years and some how it had never come up?. :p
Any who, his way of convincing me was rather insane looking at it now as he gave me nearly every one of his doubles (figure wise) for nothing at all, though I wont state what ones exactly I can tell you that one was a near complete Green Gestalt. :p
I know a lot of people will balk at the idea of what he did and what it took to convince me, but at the time I wasn't exactly in a sensible mindset and this display of generosity and true mate-ship very much helped me to get 'back on track' so to speak and I've never looked back. :D

Wonder who that could've been... ;)
I too have had the *finding an awesome shop/stall selling heaps of stuff for really cheap and buying them all* but alas when you wake up you feel dissapointed :p
You know, I can't really recall one single story of something I have been after for so long and it popping up out of the blue. Maybe a complete Blurr and complete Scourge for less than a buck each.
Or my old friend from work saying she has a friend with a whole bunch of old TFs that he no longer wants and is going to sell them to me. I am keen to see what they actually are :D I hopefully will see them soon.
