Hey all,

Any suggestions as to which of the two I should get?

At the moment, the hasbro is about $150 and I can get the takara one for the same price.

The only plus that Hasbro has is the crown.

decisions decisions... ahh. :p

Hasbro one also has the extra red&silver stripes decos as well. But yeah, the real drawcard is the crown.

Personally I love the Takara MP boxes so the choice was a no-brainer for me. Also I have heard that the gold chrome on the Takara one is brighter whereas the Hasbro one is duller and more bronze like.

I also dig the dressup accessories >_>

If you're more of a fan of the G1 cartoon, get the TakaraTOMY version.
If you're more of a fan of the G1 comics and you like Nel Yomtov's colours, get the TakaraTOMY limited exclusive.
If you're more of a fan of the G1 comics but you're not a fan of Yomtov's colours, get the Hasbro version.

Yeah, Hasbro's boxoversized card is fail. But I'm not going to favour a toy solely on its packaging though. Also, another cool thing with the TakaraTOMY version would be the tech specs card and booklet. Hasbro's MP Grimlock just comes with a simple textless instruction sheet. Lucky for me I've read Grimlock's Japanese instructions and transformed the TakaraTOMY version before I bought the Hasbro one - plus the fact that it's not a very complex toy... but yeah... it was a weird feeling transforming an MP with textless instructions. :/

get both. but if you cant, then get the hasbro version from RK for around ~100AUD total including postage. (Better if you combine orders with another member)

I got the Hasbro version due to conveniance and price. It was in front of me and i had the money.
The only draw back is lack of accessories, booklet and card. Worth it though.
I will eventually get the hasbro one to display in Trex mode.

thanks for the feedback guys... I've decided to go for the standard Takara one.

The crown is nice (very very nice actually), but I think on a whole, i'll really like my grimlock to have sharp teeth (without having to pay the crazy amounts for the comic book takara version).

Now, the only thing that will cause me great buyer's remorse is if Hasbro grimlock drops in price to $80 on sale or something.

The claws (on his dino arms) are really sharp on the JP version, but filed down on the Hasbro version. The teeth look a little different as well, but not as obvious as the claws.

Yeah, I didn't even notice this myself and thought that they were sharp enough on the Hasbro version. The TakTom version must be able to slice through a shoe

The claws could easily draw blood, they are that sharp...

LOL...
i just checked and the hasbro version DOES have rounded off claws and teeth. its quite minor though as you cant even tell once hes on display. its like 1mm difference when you look at it from very close.

Wouldn't it be cool if the takara version really does draw blood?? just awesome!!!
unfortunately, cutting yourself with an metal twist-tie would have a much better chance of drawing blood than the takara grimlock can. :D

You have no idea how many times i have seen my blood while dealing with Hasbro twist ties. I am sure that it has drawn the blood of countless kids. So much for safety when the packaging is more dangerous than the toy.

Wow, could you post a pic of the teeth and claws. I see TT Grimlock has sharp claws, but I guess I just stayed away from them. Gonna go and have a poke now and see what the result is...

I am feeling a little emo:p:D
