There was 2 roll-out OP's at my local Big W. One had malfunctions. The eyes don't light up and the sound chip was replaying the sound really fast. So it sounds like OP swallowed some helium first. It was entertaining to say the least.

I got a prime at Big W broadmeadows today, there was about 5 left. I took my target one off layby.

When I got it home I found most of it's electronics didn't work :(

Good news was it just needed the chest unscrewed and put back, something was just touching shorting it out. There is a lot of crap in there. :)

Target has it at $80 and Big W's shelf-tag price is $68.66.

Big W is often bad at putting new TFs on the shelf without them being in the computer, so I presume that happened again and there was a mix up when the price into the computer system.

Still doesn't explain why both Target and Big W sell it for less than a Leader toy... Maybe they realised the toy's so gimmicky it should be cheaper despite the size??

Yep, the Optimus Vs Megatron 2-pack. That's the annoying thing about that 'leader' class size - it suggests that every toy in that size is a leader character, while it can be confusing to refer to a leader character who is not a leader sized toy (like the leaders in the 2-pack).

I mentioned it as a sighting because I hadn't seen them in stores for a while now, in case someone new was looking for them.

For anyone in Perth...

NEVER go to the Toys R Us in Morley. They never have any Animated figures. Well, they had one Soundwave, but that was it...

Instead, go across the road to K-Mart (part of the Galleria) because they have heaps! I went in today and they had Leader Class Bulkhead and Ultra Magnus, Voyager Class Grimlock, Blitzwing, Lugnut and Prime (I think it might have been Cybertronian Prime), and various others such as that really big Prime with the auto-transform or whatever.

Voyager Class are $46 each. I was tossing up getting Blitzwing and Grimlock but I settled for just Blitzwing in the end.

I think every store at Browns Plains (Target, BigW, Kmart) and Calamvale (BigW) had Animated Blitzwing, Lugnut and Grimlock. Kmart and Target both had a heaps of figures, but none of the newer Activators (which I was hoping to find). I ain't paying $25 for an Activator. Did you try scanning one of the older waves to see if those come up as standard Activator prices? If so theres a point one can argue. I'm yet to see either Patrol Bb or Thundercracker.

I forgot about the Activators scanning in as Deluxes, so when I bought several items today at Kmart, I didn't even remember to look at their price, or pick up on how much the total came to. I just paid it, and remembered with the postings above about it. Checking the docket, yes, they charged me deluxe price for the Activators. Gotto go and get it fixed somehow... before they change it in their system to prove the over-pricing.

As mentioned before Activator Prime is the only one in this wave scanning up correctly as Activator, so if you managed to find prime or an older wave activator, bring it to the service counter and show it to them with a deluxe figure as well, they should believe you. I did that the last time.

I too have noticed the lack of TFs in the north shore.

This is my theory. Suburbs that are on the "lower" social economic level e.g. more likely to be younger families with young kids will have more toys in general and suburbs that are on the "higher" social economic level e.g. less families with young kids will have less toys.

Otherwords, supply and demand. As much as I'd like to believe that the mainstream retailers cater to the more "mature" TF collectors, the fact of the matter is that its still directly aimed at mum and dads who have young kids.

:confused: That was never going to be an issue, Jaydisc. Everything that has been released to date has been available in large quantities. Just look at the TRU two packs for instance. They're just clogging the walls now. It's simply the initial overreaction and fear of "missing out" really. You're not ruining anybody's Christmas. Unless you are buying 100s of everything, that is. And I suspect that no one has, Jaydisc. So there's no reason to get all agitated.

Oilspill, i think the axe you're looking for your Voyager Prime will have to come from the Animated 2pack that has Battle Damaged Cybertron Prime and Megatron in it, not the current one on sale.

Yeah, it should be the same axe, but a $30 2 pack instead of $45 for battle begins. I couldn't bring myself to pay $45 for the axe before, but $30 will probably do the trick.

Having said that I might go find out how much the custom axe that Nato-bot produced costs.

In regards to my post about Hound, like I said I don't collect them and only saw the spine of the package, the character pictured looked like hound, I had a quick look online tonight at the package difference between legends and deluxe universe hound and it definitely was the deluxe packaging but it could very well have been another character, but it was shelved with Galvatron and Silverstreak so whether or not it was, I don't know.
I will check it out over the next few days and post it in the universe sightings thread should it actually be him.

Found the Animated 2-pack at Kmart (Jetfire, Jetstorm) for $37. They are specially tagged as Deluxe bonus pack, so are either classed the same as the leader 2-pack, or are a separate item in the system. Either way, they aren't being classed or priced as Voyager, as was anticipated.
It should also mean they will be at most Kmarts within the week, if not already.

I find myself posting a sighting, not from a store, but from a kid's christmas presents. The family that lives in the other part of the house, have a kid who got an Animated Activators Megatron. The people who gave it to him apparently got it from a retail store, but no idea what one, or where in Brisbane/QLD. So it and Grimlock must be out here now, just not seen (or reported) by a board member yet.
I thought it funny that I was actually envious of a kid's toy, and was even having a quick play with it, before giving it back to its rightful owner... :)

I noticed that Ebay seller Shingstar1982 has Shockwave and Skywarp up for sale (along with Universe Hound and Cyclonus) and usually he gets things 2-3 weeks before they appear on local store shelves, so hopefully not too much longer to wait for these guys...

griffin, could you set the animated toy sighting forums back to the way it used to be, I dont know if it is me or a lack of new tf figures but fewer people seem to be using the state based system. perhaps a compromise? an animated toy sightings forum with sub forums organised by state? how does that sound [should keep everyone happy]

i reckon there is a lack of new TF figures hence nobody is posting.
if you do require to know a particular figure and need help within your state (where is shellharbour anyway?) i think it's Sydney?...then ask fellow local fans for any particular sightings. i'm sure someone knows where to get an old animated toy if it's still available

The poll on the issue was in favour of the state based system, by 2 to 1. Your suggestion though, would still require people to split up their sightings postings, which defeats the purpose of the incentive of making it easier to report sightings in the one posting.
It is indeed a lack of new product that is limiting the number of sightings being reported, so we may need to see if we get more traffic when new stuff does start appearing.

I can reopen the series based topics for anyone who prefers to use them, but the best compromise I can offer is to have someone else (me if I have the time) to copy new and significant sightings from the all-in-one (convenient) posts, into the separate series topics.

The reason there are fewer sightings at the moment is because stores have generally not yet restocked their toys after Christmas. Give them time. Personally, I'm keeping my eye on the First Sightings thread, as I have all the Animated toys I want that are currently out - all the new toys I want haven't yet been released in Australia (come on, Shockwave and Swindle!)
