Yay first to find them! I went into my local comic book store, Titans Tower in Southport, and was astounded to see a case of the new Transformers Animated line voyager class. I picked up Starscream, leaving two Megatrons and a Bulkhead. Unfortunately no deluxes yet, but I suspect it won't be long before we see these in widespread release.

Starscream is very, very cool. I have him posed on my desk as I write, and he's far more stable standing than previous incarnations. The glowing eyes look cool, and his "Jay Leno" chin is growing on me.

How much were they? I wonder if these have been locally distributed by Hasbro Australia or if, as a specialist store, they ordered them in directly from overseas as imports.

I heard the ones released in Cincinnatti, Ohio were a shipment that got opened up early by mistake. So did Titans Tower receive a shipment mistake too?

iceburn
8th April 2008, 09:04 PM
i would believe they are imports or the store must have bought them off ebay and sold them at a higher profitable price

And i think that's the most feasible explanation. No way known that they could get it easier. It's been astounding the number of Animated Deluxes and Voyagers that are available on eBay. I'm so tempted every time I see one and 'tis pretty frequent these days.

Titan's Tower, and any other single store retailer, don't get their stock from Hasbro Australia. Hasbro will only deal with national retail chains. Titans Tower would have had to have imported these themselves, but am unsure how they would have got a whole case though. Individual figures from asian sources are quite common, but a whole case is odd, if true.
What were the prices? That would give us an idea of the source.

hmm... not sure how that one worked out then. There were two Megatrons, 1 Bulkhead? and 1 Starscream, for a voyager price. I'm going to have to get me a MISB one at retail later, but having a Starscream so early to play with it very very cool.

Well he did say that he paid a 'voyager price', which is really weird, because it would mean they got it at a wholesale price to be able to sell it so 'cheaply' for an independant toy dealer.

Tell him he needs to set up an online ordering facility. That's a pretty decent price he's offering and i imagine he offers decent prices on his other stuff too.

That Titan's Tower is a foul temptress, coaxing the contents of my wallet in exchange for a 13" Green Arrow. Alas that Bulkhead is spoken for or so I hear. I'm hoping they get some Deluxes or a Prime as they look pretty sweet.

I'm guessing Hasbro will probably do a timed, controlled worldwide release with the Animated figures just like they did with the Movie figures last year; or maybe they won't.:D

I think we'll see dribbles of toys first, from direct market sources like Diamond and Asia. But hasbro have pushed back the may release date of pre-orders on hasbrotoyshop back to june, so maybe there's production problems?
Also, Target and Toyworld are still clogged with new movie toys, so no need to restock for them.

Perhaps its not a production problem but a security problem given by the numbers available on ebay :D

A Victorian in-store sighting. I found the following today at the Toy Kingdom store at Fountain Gate:

Deluxes: Prime, Prowl, Bumblebee, and Lockdown $27.99 each
Voyagers: Bulkhead, Starscream, Cybertron Megatron $44.95 each
2 pack: Prime vs Megatron $44.95 each

Sorry for the bad quality of my camera phone pictures.

some of the deluxes are not worth getting now, apparently lockdown will be re-release in another wave to compensate for some fault in his toy mechanics (dont really know) and prowl will be re-released with a additional side-cart (maybe the accessories will be the same)

Toy Kingdom had about 40 of the Prime vs Megatron two pack so that shouldn't be hard to find.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2376/2519354185_9e9128a37c.jpg

I also counted about 24 deluxes and about 18 voyagers in this store. If the stores like K-Mart, Target and Big W get stocks like this we should be laughing.

Well, it happened with the movie toys. Only in that case it was a result of massive backlog.

Maybe this is Hasbro's way of apologising for holding them back.

I checked Broadway today. None there (still several movie toys on the shelves, despite last week's Deluxe sale). Oh well. When are they supposed to be appearing again?

Toyworld in Southland had none. Toyworld in Elsternwick had them all, but as I said somewhere else, this place is a rip-off! Deluxes are $32 and Voyagers are $54. I asked her why her prices were more than other Toyworlds. She said they're all independently owned. And a few minutes later, she turns as says, "Most people think our prices are competitive." In hindsight, I could have said a bucketload of better comments, but I simply said, "I don't think so. Thank you." and left.

$32 for a Deluxe & $54 for a Voyager? Bloody Hell! I thought DJ's were the most expensive retail store for toys (I remember they wanted $50 for titaniums but they outright refused to pricematch with TRU ) but I guess we have a new successor to the crown...

Definitely start off with Lockjaw. He's the coolest bounty hunter since Death's Head (yes, he probably was based on him even though they're denying it - wait till you see him holding Prime's axe). Bumblebee is kind of fun, and a good place to start too - he's going to be a sellout with every kid wanting a bumbles.

Titan Towers, Southport has a huge set of deluxe and voyager figures, as well as the two-pack Optimus and Megatron for 49.99. The two-pack is probably the best value, as you get the two leaders for the price of a single voyager.

I checked my local Toyworld (Runaway Bay), but no luck yet. Not at Kmart Southport and Target Runaway Bay yet either.

Infact just today, I added Classics Silverbolt to my pre-order list over at BBTS. That should give you some indication of my interest in the TFA line of figures...

Uncle Pete's stores have a "Member's club" for frequent customers (aka. us :D).

If there's an Uncle Pete's store near you, just ask about it at the counter. It saves you a couple of bucks here & there (meaning you have more funds to blow on more expensive TFs :D).

Uncle Pete's Castle Towers had a tonne of every figure in Wave 1.

Deluxes = $25 but Voyagers/2-packs = $45.

So far the store with the cheapest Voyagers is TRU, so if you want them - that's where I'd go :).

And he's indeed correct. I spotted them today too. Very pleaant surprise. I also grabbed myself a Cybertron Optimus Prime on the back of the heap of praise Jaydisc gave it. Will find out later tonight

Complete wave 1 has been seen by me at Kmart in morley.

Although due to crap QC issues, they are down 2 Lockdowns.

I hope its not too presumptuous to quote myself, but that was from yesterday. I went into the same store today and BAM! All the Bumblebee's were no longer there, but the others were pretty much untouched.

Its happening again!!!

Ha ha. No biggie. I reckon he's the weakest Deluxe of the 1st wave.

He is easily the weakest figure of Wave 1 (deluxe or otherwise) and there is going to have to be a pretty ordinary toy in upcoming lines to beat him.

I just hope that he doesn't turn alot of kiddies off the line, who will expect the rest of the figures to be as "meh" worthy as he is.

Wacth Lockdown sell much better when his episode gets free to air coverage.

Went to Kmart Kardinya last night and they were plentiful on shelf. It looked like they had 2 cases of Voyagers and 2 cases of Deluxes. The Voyagers were all there, minty fresh. I didn't count the Deluxes though but all the characters were there. No 2-pack though. Bought myself a Starscream, Lockdown and Voyager Megatron. Very happy with Animated toys. :)

That's good news for all but bad news for me. :p

I have a full case of (4 x carded Ratchet and 4 x carded Blackarachnia) coming direct from Hong Kong to my Nexus Fair table. :p

Blackarachnia is still sitting by her lonesome at Melbourne's Myer (I saw it and decided to wait for a sale given her small size). They had Megatron and Bulkhead Voyagers (but no Starscream) for $44.95. Melbourne's Big W store had the two pack of Prime & Megs for $39.84.

Ha ha. No biggie. I reckon he's the weakest Deluxe of the 1st wave.

That may be so (scalping of Bumblebee), but to the average young kid or parent, Bumblebee will be the priority character, even over Optimus. So the toy scalpers are going to generate demand for their overpriced stock by preventing most parents and kids from getting the toy at retail (and they know how much they made off Movie BB, to think that the same will happen with this new BB). Hopefully we see heaps of animated toys on the shelves to prevent this demand for alternative (ebay) sources.
And with Bumblebee in the second wave assortment as well, it should be widely available for a few months at least.

Let's put it this way. The cheapest I've seen of Encore Jazz in Perth was AUD $40. And I see no point of me having Encore Jazz on my table unless I can do better. :)

I saw the 2 pack and no other Animated at Big W in Kawana, QLD today. Toyworld Kawana has possibly the most impressive display of TFs I've ever seen . They would have had about 100 Voyagers and Leaders, mostly new stock. They had a wall of carded figures, again, mostly movie. Twas very impressive. They had the full lineup of Animated in good quantities as well.

I'm keen for Voyager Prime now. Black Arachnia is a good sign. Myer Maroochydore had no Animated, but says they're expecting them soon.

Did u ask them if they sell that quickly? I imagine they must for the retailer to have such confidence.

Oooh and did u see Voyager Prime?

I shld mention that I saw the Voyagers and Deluxes at K-Mart today and was very disappointed by the fact that the figures scanned at $45.99 and $26.99 today. I was hoping we'd see an across the board drop from all the retails seeing as Target, Myers have both passed savings onto us.

For me, $25 seems to be an almost fair RRP. I dunno why tho. I 'm so used to getting them at $20 that I should not like $25 but for some reason it seems reasonable and I wasn't too fussed when I grabbed Cybertron Prime for $25. Of course, for a crappier figure, I'm sure I'd be pretty fussed. *Glares at TFM Offroad Ironhide...*

Haven't had much time looking for stuff in stores, but was passing by Browns Plains shopping centre yesterday, and was able to see Animated toys for the first time in Brisbane stores.
Target only had the Voyagers in so far at $45 (Bulkhead, Starscream, Megatron).
Toyworld had the entire first wave though. $27 for Deluxes, $45 for Voyagers and the 2-pack.

Finally, Animated at my local Target (Bullcreek). But only Voyagers though. At a glance they had 2 Starscreams so they must have got in 2 - 3 cases.
