Well, there's a shock.
Man I am going to be broke for a very long time if they keep on releasing figures that I want. CHUGU is the line for me, don't really care about the movie figures.

Deluxe G2 Optimus Prime update is what I'm looking forward to, especially since the original toy is my fave Optimus toy of all time. You so know he'll be repainted as Black Convoy from Car Robots. :)

And Trailbreaker as well. I can't wait to see how these look.
Looks like it will be a good few months for TF fans up until the new movie comes out at least. All these Generations/United figures are making me dizzy with excitement :p

This is exactly what I'm feeling dude, it's like Classics all over again! :D
Adding Wreckgar, Trailbreaker & Laser Rod, CHUGU/Generations is most definitely the line for me too. :D
Ooh!, Gen 1 Love... Oh-Wee-Oh-Wee-Oh!
(As in Jungle Love by The MF Time! - Jay & Silent Bob)

Just read on TFW that Trailcutter (Trailbreaker) will be legends sized. What a rip.

...I was glad to hear Hasbro releasing MP Rodimus... then stung to hear that he won't come with the trailer. Gah.

I'm actually glad to hear this news personally. If I do end up getting the Hasbro release, I would be displaying him without the trailer anyway. It's also a good way of keeping the cost down and making him accessible to the average fan.

My thoughts too. Hasbro need to spend money more often. ;)

Man there is some damn fine news coming out in the last few days and is hard to keep up with it. Just went and found the scans of the magazine - I am a little disapointed with G2 Laser Prime, but Perceptor, Scourge, Wreck Gar and even Trailblazer (should have been a deluxe) all look awesome.
EDIT: News about MP Rodimus without the trailer is both good and bad.
The trailer is needed for Rod's alt mode but not for anything else. There is no way that Hasbro could sell Rodimus in stores for even $100US yet alone the $190US Takomy are selling him for with the trailer.

They said he would get a different set of accessories too - daniel and the fishing rod maybe?

My thoughts too. Hasbro need to spend money more often. ;) More to do with keeping the retail cost reasonable, which is why Hasbro never released an equivalent of MP-4 Convoy.
Would be harder for them to convince retailers to stock a full set with trailer due to the high price it would command, especially when it's not likely to fly off shelves like other Transformers they can stock instead.

maybe Hasbro AU will release TOMY MP Rodimus here as a Target exclusive...
...I wouldn't hold my breath for it though (-_-)

If it were financially viable, I'd like to get both, so I can leave Hasbro's as Hot Rod and Tomy's as Rodimus Prime

I dunno, sure G2 Prime sounds nice, but it is yet another Prime.

I agree I wanted a Deluxe, I just don't dig Legends.

OOooh, I wanna see them pics. And can't wait for the inevitable Scourge (Nemesis Prime) repaint. As for the Hasbro Rodimus vs Takara Rodimus I think I'll go for the Takara one.

As someone who who could never afford the original Transformers, I was really happy that they were updating the original line. But for that, I dont understand why they cant make them of appropriate size?
Its really disappointing because legends size is just sucky in everyway.

In the context of the '84 - '85 Autobots, I would have to agree. It makes more sense to have the original minibots legend size and all the Autobot cars deluxe size. It's just as important to some to have toys that are in scale with each other as it is to revisit these characters.

I actually enjoy the legend size toys for the most part. Some are a bit hit-n-miss, but Hasbro have improved on the legend toys over the last couple of years IMO.

I think they would be better scout size actually.
there's only so much you can improve of a figure that small.

Toxitron and Laser Magnus first. THEN Scourge.

Don't like g2 prime. Looks too play school in truck mode. Plus it's yet another one that when in original form, it had a trailer, now it doesn't and looks like it would really benefit from one.

Another project for a 3rd party me guess :p

Meh, probably, but I'm not going to buy it anyway nor a 3rd party thing either.
I still don't get the "laser rod" thing either. Was it supposed to have a light saber?

The G2 Laser Rods have the same gimmick as Micron Legend Hot Rod and Masterpiece Grimlock -- an LED which illuminates the sword. With Laser Optimus Prime the LED also illuminated the headlights in truck mode. The Laser Rods were pretty neat and were among the very first generation of Transformers with highly articulated and poseable robot modes. IMO Laser Optimus Prime was an extraordinarily well crafted toy for its time and arguably one of the best Optimus Prime toys ever designed.
Canonically they wield energy blades - which is nothing new to Transformers - after all there were several G1 Transformers who wielded melee energy weapons such as the energo-swords wielded by Grimlock, Slag, Sludge and Snarl (but not Swoop - his weapon is a thermal sword). The LED piping looks cooler than just bright red plastic.
