Don't get me wrong, i'm feeling the TT/Hasbro love this week however i'm over the amount of repaints and minor retools that are getting released. I understand why hasbro do it, it's smart business but repaints should be kept to a minimum.
Which other repaints should've been new molds and which upcoming releases are you ok with being repaints?

I don't really like repaints that are powered up/slightly different versions of the same character with apparently random colouring (Tuner Mudflap/Skids is an example).
Repaints that look nicer than the original figure, and repaints that are homages are always welcome.

I too hate pointless repaints, like Shadow Command Megatron and Night Ops Prime???:rolleyes:
If a repaint/retool is done to be a new character and does said character justice, short of a new mold, than I've got no problems at all. ;)
Unfortunately, this issue does tend to come up a lot and it's kind of unavoidable really, as they're pretty much here to stay, but if we could see a reduction in the amount of the pointless, like listed above, than that would be a much welcomed thing. :)

I think any repaint/retool from the early 80s is acceptable because those repaints and retools were given memorable and now familiar identities.
So others like Trailbreaker/Hoist, Windcharger/Tailgate, Brawn/Outback are okay in my book too. Even a modern repaint idea like Bumblebee into Wasp is something I'd be ok with seeing more of (because Waspinator is a memorable character, and having an evil Bumblebee called Wasp makes such great sense).

Can you add an 'All of the Above' option?

You can tick each if you like.

I ticked all but 'other' and the 'cassettes' as it is my believe that when the cassettes are involved, nothing but individual molds, albeit say Rumble/Frenzy, I believe should be accepted.
I personally could not accept a panther cassette named Frenzy, or a hawk named Ravage, do you see wat I mean?
All the rest are suitable to me, but as I stated before, none of this Shadow Command or Night Ops etc. crap.

I have no problems with redeco/minor retools even if I don't care for what it ends up being (tuner skids etc)
Bring 'em on, more choice the better!

Chose 4
Seekers ( of course) but for some reason Hasbro keeps effing it up by not releasing the complete set - Classics Thundercracker still needs to be issued!!! - I have Henkei one but it would've been reasonable to reissue Thundercracker rather than skip him altogether - the mold is there for pete's sake!
Ratchet/ Ironhide - just make sure they mold a different head - which is why I didnt vote bumbles/cliffy - Hasbro is guilty of straight repaints for these two - laziness of doing a new head - though they do now for generations prolly seeing the comments fandom makes... but then they dont care:mad: we are not the target market - the toy stores are!
Cassettes - though I wish they made more - they only came up with ravage ( with hound) which has a lazerbeak head and for all the great toy engineering today the couldnt make it more poseable than the original, sigh
Prowl et al - just make sure the colors arent funny or runny:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I usually have a "NO REPAINTS!!" policy. But I threw it out the window with CHUGU because G1 had the repainted characters. Mostly the Seekers and Prowl/Smokescreen/Bluestreak. ( I do not own CHUGU Cliffjumper or Ratchet. I'd like to!)

I had the same thoughts before, then as with you, threw it out the window when Classics was released. Cliffjumper and Ratchet are difficult to get now, Ratchet was not released here, or had a very limited release, and Cliffjumper was released in very small numbers. Thanks to Hursticon, I own Cliffumper, and thanks to Zippo, we both got Ratchet.

Cliffjumper was released in very small numbers.
Really? He seemed common enough to me when he was out. He was never hard for me to find... in fact, I had to convince myself to buy the stupid toy cos part of me kept (keeps) screaming, "It's just a stupid repaint of Bumblebee! Why didn't they retool the head?! Whhyyy?!?"
Cliffjumper is my least favourite CHUGU Autobot.

I think I only ever saw him once, and then he was gone. I searched high and low for him. But you are right, he is probably my least favourite too, but I still wanted him anyway :p
Could always buy the $300 upgrade :p

I ticked all of them. I use to be really against repaints and even basic retools. But i got caught up in animated and re-evaluated that. If it's justified then i'm for it but you can't just paint Bumblebee red and call him Cliffjumper. With the new repaints such as tuner Mudflap and etc i know Hasbro's trying to make some extra money but i think they'd make more if they released new moulds or invested in minor retools eg new head, weapon. Elita-1 I'm looking at you

I don't mind a straight repaint as long as it's thoughtful. Sometimes they can work better than the originally intended character.
An example of a good straight repaint (although poor mold) is the recent Universe Darkwing.
