Transfomers Deluxe Figures $18.66 (pictured is Sidearm Sideswipe and Tuner Skids)

Voyagers $36.62 (Seapsray shown)

PCC everyday price is $29.62

Doesn't specify what deluxes, so could get Generations at that price I'd say.

Sigh, a few days patience and $12 saved...

Nice prices though.

$18.66 is a damn good price for a new/recent wave deluxe. Better than the $19.99 Toyworld eastland is doing them for.
They must have priced them to beat them. I know I've gotten 3 deluxes price mached in recent weeks.

Yeah me too bought my Generations from TRU.

I tried bringing the Generations to the counter at Big W during the July Toy Sale and pointed to the lady the "Transformers Deluxe Assorted" they had on the catalogue. But she was smart enough to notice the difference in the packaging and said yeah only assorted in those yellow packaging.

The manager at the big w i was notied that to but i pointed out that it said deluxes and not anything specific. but gave it to me at the sale price.

Unless the catalogue specifcally states 'assorted' means 'yellow packaging', you should have been able to get them for the sale price. A generic term like 'Transformers Deluxe Assorted' is highly contestable.

Might have to stop by my local. Finally time to pick up Seaspray to add to the Classics collection. :D

Not really, you can see they have different codes for the variants of deluxes. Scanning them would be your best bet as that is what they would rely on. Unless they are really in a giving mood. :)

But the thing is all their toys scan up as -

Transformers "Legends/Scout/Deluxe/Voyager/Leader" assorted.

So unless the catalog says ROTF/HFTD/AA OR YELLOW specifically (is it really that hard to print that?!?!), assorted means all of them.

I had a look at the managers copy back at the mid year sale and yes it had a specific code, but that code isnt printed on the consumer catalog and therefore is very misleading.
The last toyworld catalog had HFTD Voyager $40 and pictured was Payload. I went to buy seaspray and the cashier told me that only Payload was on sale - i was WTF? are you so stupid that you cant even read your own catalog? they're not going to print pictures of every single character of the HFTD line! thats a waste of space and ink! but I just had to remind myself and be polite instead of yelling at how stupid she was.

I was there this evening, and they had a bunch of RotF deluxes on clearance for $12 - Ratchet, Brawn, Lockdown, Strike Mission Sideswipe (?), and the others from that wave.

I got the impression that this was an everyday price for this wave of clearance stock. Hasbro doing another clear out. :)

not really. :) But I know what you mean. When I scan them, there are differences with the description so unless the picture mismatches with what you scanned like HFTD Deluxe pic on ad but only ROTF deluxes were scanned to be at that price, then it's clear. Even animated don't show up the same. I wouldn't expect new stuff to have sale prices as the old stuff anyway.

I've seen this in TRU also. Now, I was able to ask the staff to give me the price that was on the shelf label/tag but didn't match the scanned price. :)
Because that is confusing :)

i check first and if the price check isn't working, then maybe that's the time I'd have them use the catalogue price :) otherwise, I stick to scanning first before buying :)

Is it ok to return (sealed/unopened) and buy the same item now that it is on sale? :D

jaydisc
30th September 2010, 02:26 PM
It's certainly OK for an unopened item.

For an opened item, it might be a bit dodgy, because the store will possibly not be able to resell it. So, if you've already opened an item, it's probably better to re-buy it at the sale price and return the new, still-sealed one on your pre-existing, more-expensive receipt. That way the store isn't stuck with tainted stock and you get your sale price.

Big W does not individually identify Transformers, rather all figures of the same line and class scan with the same code. So, if you bought (and opened) Seaspray last week for $48.62, you could go back this week, buy Night Ops Ratchet for 36.62, take him directly to the return counter, but give them the Seaspray $48.62 receipt. Effectively, by doing that, the $36.62 receipt you keep is now the receipt for your opened Seaspray. Make sense?

All of the other major retailers work the same way. The only store that individually identifies every Transformer is Kmart.

Not impressed.

Thanks! Will they accept the return and new buy of the returned item at the sale price? Or do you have to just return/refund it then buy another same item on the sale price? Or like returning it in one branch and buy it on another branch? :D

its easier to just get a refund and then go buy it since you'll be served by different people.

I'm not quite sure how that was possible as they all get transmitted from support office on the monday before the event to go live at 12:01 on the thursday. Stores are asked to move the event time forward in most cases to 2pm on the wednesday to help with putting the tickets up.

The reduced transformers in the brochure are part of the same "advert" as every other reduced line in the brochure so i'm not sure how this has happened in ur local store unless every other item in the store was not reduced.

The store possibly stuffed up the date when they moved the advert forward but as I stated, no other items would be scanning at the reduced price either.

The attendant said no, but yes I can return it :) Just gives me the additional walk and pick up new stuff on the shelves and pay for it again. :)

Just got to love logic

Oh and HFTD Deluxes are different when scanned to Gen TF Deluxe. So the generations wave is still $24.66 and not $18.66. Dude is lucky who got gens at $18.66

Thanks for the info, I can't explain it, as the voyagers scanned at the sale price, but none of the three waves of deluxes did. Very odd.

Just went to the Forest Hill Big W yesterday and the only the HFTD Deluxes and Voyagers were scanning up at sale price. The generations deluxes were at normal price of $24.

ROTF2 Deluxes are still $12 and there were also 2 Battle Ops Bumblebee for $57.82.

jazzcomp, whatever Jay's mentioned we've been doing it for ages. :D :p All it takes is a repurchase at one store and refund at the other with the more expensive receipt.

Like Jay said as well, only Kmart has unique barcodes i.e for e.g if you buy a deluxe arcee, you have to refund a deluxe arcee. Whereas if you buy from Target or Big W, all you have to do is get a deluxe figure and use the more expensive receipt to refund with the old receipt. ;) Hope this makes sense.

This works for opened items as well in some sense. For example I bought the pink and blue Lego tubs for $49 each from Big W and Kmart. Already went home and opened mine. But when Myer had them on sale for $39, I just went to Myer, bought two new pink and blue tubs, took a walk to Kmart and Big W to refund.

Aaargh! I've been to 4 different Big Ws and none of them have any Seasprays! None at Toyworld, Target or Myer either. We wait months for them to finally be on sale, and all anyone has in stock are Night Ops Ratchet and Payload.

If anyone in SA manages for find a Seaspray for $40 or less, can they grab it for me please?

UPDATE: No worries guys - I'm going to do a pricematch on the catalogue at K-Mart as suggested. My local K-Mart has plenty.

kmart should have them and they price match big ws catalog and dont even need them to have it in stock.

the other day i had to return a faulty battle ops bumblee cause of electronic fault and i rang them up and they agreed to price match bid ws receipt.

That's what I had to do the other night. My local had only Ratchet and Payload, so took the catalogue to K-Mart (who had at least 7x Seaspray) and pricematched it. The girl buggered up and charged me $4 less than the catalogue price too. :D

they said if both catalogs have the same thing advertised - which they both do.

but one of my local targets says they no longer price match at all so youll have to ring to check with yours.

I saw a lot of this wave at a local Big W today. It looks like Big W/Hasbro got a good deal on some surplus European stock given the multilingual packaging these bots are in.

I couldn't help but look at Ratchet, Brawn and Lockdown and think each of these toys is going to be twice the price but in new colours and yellow packaing soon.
