My thoughts on this are relatively similar to my thoughts on the Henkei version:


Like chrome, there are fans that love crystal toys, and fans that simply don't understand the appeal. I'm squarely in the former camp.

This is my first instance of this deluxe Prime mold, and it really is near useless IMO. As well, there are many non-clear bits to it that lessen the aesthetic.

On the other hand, Rodimus is beautiful! The darkening (but not blackening out) of the windshield is great, and MUCH better than Hasbro's foolish decision to paint their recent version's windshield opaque blue. The spoiler is a very shiny gold chrome, and the crystal effect is generally perfect on this toy. The only shortcoming I see is that the light piping is clear red, just like the rest of his head, so his eyes lack definition.

If you're fan of clear toys, this is a must have. If you're not, it's probably not worth it. If you're like me, and equally dislike the prime mold, then you're basically looking at spending $80-90 on Rodimus, which is quite a lot, especially in light of the recently released Challenge for Cybertron and the similar upcoming 2-pack.

Although, there are some differences:

1. The Prime mold, while the weakest of the 3 Deluxe/Voyager primes, is not as bad as the Henkei Deluxe Prime mold, although it is similarly plagued with opaque grays.

2. The Animated Rodimus mold is excellent and suffers the same red eyes on a red head. In addition, the regular versions of this mold are much more readily available than the Henkei versions of Rodimus.

All that being said, this set seems to sell for a good A$20 less than the Henkei version.

Again, the summary is: If you love crystal toys, this set is a winner. If you don't, don't bother.

I really can appreciate these being that i love all things animated. I don't think i can justify paying full price for them though as i already have the Optimus mould and am waiting on the Rodimus Mould.

If i were to get them i think they'd look good on my masterpiece shelf not for their engineering but for their colours. The crystal suits them.

I don't like the look of them, but they're decently priced.
