If true I wonder if these are getting a Western release.

Awesome news.

Kup was pretty much guaranteed with the upcoming release of MP Rodimus.

Nice to see that Rumble and Frenzy are getting a release what with PE monopolizing on those of late.

I hope wheeljack has LEDs :)

Am I dreaming?

This news is feeding my addiction.. for all this classicsverse crack!

I just broke down, put em all on my -to acquire list- yep.. getting all of em'

Can finally be relieved to the fact that wheeljack is officially confirmed, not only that but- what?? RUMBLE AND FRENZY?

I wonder what these 2 guys are going to be? cassettes? or something else?- does this mean a classics styled Soundwave release will be inevitable?

I personally hope they will be done in the vein of Universe Ravage- piledrivers and all- but judging from that information- the 2 will be sold as a voyager class- so they might be 2 scout sized figs?

Cant wait for pics of these guys!!

Rumble and Frenzy are great news and about freaking time! I have the PerfectEffect toys but if these official ones are of the appropriate aesthetics, I will place them in my Classics shelf with Music Label Soundwave and replace the earphones.

I will use the PE ones as WFC Rumble and Frenzy.

Wheeljack is equally good news, I hope they get the character right.

I think Wheeljack is a retooled Tracks. If you look at Tracks's gun in Hasbro's (badly transformed) non-photoshopped pics, it uses the same clips as his shoulder rockets (and that have been seen on toys since ROTF).

The "gun" is also the same design as Wheeljack's shoulder rocket.

Since TT are using what Hasbro calls Reveal the Shield as United (Jazz & Tracks), I think that means we should get Grapple as a United release. Hopefully Windcharger too.

Yeah that's true. The body also seems more suitable for Wheeljack than Tracks but still, it could still work if they do a proper head and colors.

Rumble and Frenzy will most likely be repaints of the same mould, so if they did have piledrivers they'd both probably come with them. But I'd personally be happy if only Rumble came with the piledrivers and Frenzy came with something else (like woofer-hands (like the ones he used in G2)). That would be a really great way for the toy designers to acknowledge the fact that Frenzy and Rumble were originally NOT meant to be just clones of each other; and that only Rumble was the one who could produce earthquakes and Frenzy's power was to produce destructive audio (http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/a/ae/Frenzyhahaha.jpg) waves (http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/b/b3/Frenzy-RobotBuster.jpg). If the woofers are too obscure for newer fans, then perhaps AHM-style drillhands (http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/c/ce/AHM2DrillFrenzy.jpg)? (or for something kinky, drillnuts (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Drillnuts) :p)

...I highly doubt HasTak would do that... Frenzy and Rumble will most likely be repaints of the same mould. Oh well... I can dream. :p

Who's Lugnut? Everyone else is G1.
Technically Drift isn't G1 (not original G1 anyway) and he's being released in Japan under United. Also aren't they releasing a CHUGUR version of G2 Laser Prime under United? And isn't United meant to be a continuation of Henkei? If so, then there were already non-G1 characters in Henkei anyway.

There has been a somewhat push of placing none originally G1 characters into neo-G1. Examples include Skybyte, Hotshot, etc.

Sorta. Only in the idea that they are the Japanese version of the Hasbro stuff. From the pictures, although shopped, don't seem to have chrome but instead have the shiny Animated treatment.

Because originally the list would have been written in Japanese, and at some point someone transliterated them to English - probably by someone who doesn't speak English as a first language (which is far more tolerable than seeing native speakers freequently screw upp speeling grammer adn :p).

Keep in mind that in Japanese phonetics "a" is pronounced as in the English word 'father', thus "Ramble" sounds like "Rumble". Japanese doesn't have the /æ/ sound that English has. Japanese also lacks /ə/, so "er" is transliterated the same as "ar", thus to a Japanese speaker "Wreck Ger" is the same as "Wreck Gar." English speakers also do the same thing with phonetics that don't exist in English (e.g. pronounce "tsunami" with a silent "t", whereas in Japanese the "t" is pronounced).

Lugnut and Lockdown seem to be fan favourites, or at least Designer favourites, so they've created more toys of each, after their Animated appearance. Personally, I don't like the 'laziness' and 'contamination' of one series with another series' iconic/unique characters.
Homages to Gen1 is one thing, and if a series is full of then, it's not a big deal. But when you have a universe of its own characters and designs, a couple of homages/copied designs and characters to a completely unrelated series, just seems cheap and out of place.

Even seeing Lockdown in the IDW Gen1 universe (in the Drift comic), seems out of place.

Thats nothing dude. There are spelling errors like that all through the parts catalouges I used in my old job and those are distributed by major car manufacturers. I was always surprised at the lack of professionalism shown by them.

I'd like to politely disagree there, Griffin. I don't think it's Laziness or contamination if the Designers for the Movie toys thought Lockdown was cool enough to be given the Movie treatment. He's one of my Favourite ROTF toys and now has greater crossover value after appearing in Drift's series. If the designers love these characters I say make more Animated Homages, it was great to see G1 characters get the Animated treatment, why is so wrong for the unique characters of Animated to get the reverse?

I myself love these Animated to Classics/Movieverse conversions. I'll buy Lugnut and would really love to see a Generations Blitzwing with some design cues from Animated (Mainly the three faces) And a G1 Bulkhead like the one I saw in a Mosiac comic. and to keep on topic I'd love a new Wheeljack and hope that they do a similar sideswipe/sunstreaker altered transformation for him and Tracks.

Wreck Gar is a medic?? Ah well I guess when you can bring back a decapitated body like - Magnus and Springer back to life , you are one. Better than Perceptor who can't even fix Optimus with just those shoddy side wounds, cripes Prime got blasted even internally ( by lazerbeak) before and was able to survive with Ratchet and Wheeljack on the job. Perceptor's just useless.:p

back on topic...

Im hoping they make a new head mold at least for Wheeljack and not just a straight on repaint of Tracks down to the head mold. otherwise Id track down an Energon Downshift just to cannibalize the head:o

I agree.
I think it also binds the Transformers multiverse together more tightly. Making it seem like every character exists in each universe one way or another having greater impact or importance in some universes and little to none in others
I think it makes it more interesting to compare the charactersation between series.
One of the things I love about Animated Optimus Prime is that he isn't top bot. He pretty much got kicked out of the military and is just in charge of a dinky little rapair crew.
I'd like to see a Megatron like that.

Also reminds me of a movie called 'The One' with Jet Li.

I'd like to see a Megatron like that.
G1 Megatron was forced to take orders from Shockwave when he overthrew Megatron (http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/a/a2/Megatrong1marvelhumiliation.jpg) and assumed command of the Decepticons. Straxus is of equal rank to Megatron -- Megatron was commanding the Earth-bound Decepticons while Straxus had risen to power on Cybertron, becoming Lord High Governor. You'll notice that on the Darkmount toy his rank is 10, equal to Megatron. :) Straxus later took orders from Megatron after he was reduced to living as a head in a bubble - but even then he took measures to overthrow Megatron.

Megatron was also subservient to The Fallen in ROTF.

Hursticon
14th October 2010, 09:41 AM
Courtesy of Seibertron.com (http://www.seibertron.com), apparently from an anonymous source - the upcoming Frenzy and Rumble will transform into half a Voyager Class sized Tank (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/possible-information-revealed-about-upcoming-frenzy-rumble-toy/20006/) each (Like Combiner Micromasters or the Twins Icecream Truck) and will apparently have their Piledriver arms.

Why a Tank?

This is probably the one time I'll have a problem with another TF Tank because these guys really shouldn't be one.
I don't mind the combiner gimmick but I'd of preferred some other Alt Mode - But I guess this is little more than a rumour so until pics surface, I suppose I shouldn't get worked up about it. :D

The idea of making them combiners is interesting. Means that they'll be different moulds and not straight repaints. Also means they should be sold together and we won't have to hunt each down separately.

Frenzy/rumble looks decent, the robot mode looks pretty in line with g1 incarnation, the tank, I will need time to adjust to it from cassette form, oh well. Having said that, will still be getting these guys.
____

Wheeljack looks so F'n good- from prototype. I can't believe all the various fans complaining that Tracks shared a retooled mould. The additional front bumper? homage to the g1 lancia mould just made this alt mode so much better than tracks. So Badass

Though that pic doesn't show the "wheeljackesque" shoulder cannon that tracks mould came with, I hope that the figure can mount that cannon on that shoulders. As long as Takara doesnt screw up, but give me a g1 accurate paint scheme and ill be getting 2 atleast.

I wish they had shown Rumble (red) so we can get an idea of the robot mode. However the design is not bad. It is indeed different and will take some getting used to as it is a radically different toy concept to the original but it does look good.

Wheeljack looks fantastic, it seems more as if the mold was actually meant for him rather than Tracks. I like how they have modified the car mode to make it different and more similar to Wheeljack's G1 car mode.

Indeed dude, it sure does harken back to the G1 Lancia Front Bar, which is probably why I like this Wheeljack's Alt Mode so much, I just hope it's evenly balanced with something at the rear though. ;)

I too noticed that his Shoulder Cannon was vacant, I'm hoping that the 2 hand held weapons he's holding somehow combine to form said Cannon. :o

Rumble/Frenzy... Is it just me or do we only see one figure? weren't they supposed to be a combiner?
