ToysRUs seems to have an understaffed customer service, as it took since Friday to get through.

I finally got onto someone today about the Legends Devastator in their current catalogue.

Now, according to their computer system, the Devastator set is supposed to retail for $80, but came into stores on sale at $60. So with the catalogue saying $70, the set is still discounted by $10, and is likely to go up to $80 after the catalogue ends on 26th October.

Makes them even more scalperish than usual... The Target version is $40, half the price.
(and with the current exchange rate, it'd be a lot cheaper to import - the US retail is about US$33/AU$35)

Target's is $49, $39.20 if you get it on sale.

And if you didn't already know, I've got one more superior TakaraTomy one on sale for $39! :D

Is there a difference between the Target version and the TRU version?

wow... I thought $60 was bad but $80?!?! I could buy a leader toy or even the supreme devastator for an extra $7-$8!

I got my Target version in their last big sale (where everything was 20% off) but I could never pay $80 for a green-version, no matter how much I want an alternative version. I'd be thinking more about how many days, how many hours, that $80 could take off my mortgage.

Not a good sign for a prospective purchase.

I got a chance to see this in person the other day, have to say I wasn't really impressed. It just looks so fragile and when compacted down the movie Devastator looks even worse than its larger counterpart IMO.

I and two of my sons who have this like it. Some of the alt modes leave a lot to be desired but considering they can make a gestalt it has good play value, and it does provide a point of difference in the Legends collection.

But $80?? Pfft

not the first time they have done something like this...

Remember when they released 2007 Deluxe Jazz in G1 colours for $50? Disgusting!

The $50 Jazz was likely to be an error on the part of who ever entered them into the HQ computer, thinking that both Jazz and Starscream (released at the same time, with similar descriptions to their names) were probably part of the same assortment.

If it was intentional, the Starscream would have been overpriced to a similar extent as well.

You could always use this to bring Devvy close to its original price.. for two days only.

The Takara one Jay is selling is the pick of the bunch.

I own all three.

The TRU is really meh. But the Takara one with the purple bits really sets it off!
