Can anyone who is a member currently comment on this? I've been tossing up for a while now if I want to join... I need to know that it is worth it from an international members POV. Cheers :)

I also wouldnt mind hearing an opinion from a current member to see if they think its really worth joining up. Would it pretty much just be to purchase exclusive figures ?

Hmmm.. with the way the Aussie dollar is going now might be a good time to join
From what I can gather membership gets you access to exclusive figures and some sort of deal with the Transformers conventions. Getting there would still be your own problem.
But I stand to be corrected.

There's a thread here (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=3287&highlight=joining+collectors+club) about general thoughts on the club.
I guess the $78 is a lot better than it used to be. If I recall correctly, it was $94 US. So there is a plus there.
Still really don't think its really worth joining even with the price drop. My main problem is with the awful grammar in the comic. Oh and the complete ripoff on the postage of figures.

The postage rip off is what holds me back from joining. It negates any savings of the membership cost.

So for example, you get Sideburn for 'free' with your membership. How much does it cost to send him here?

How much have you got? Let's talk. I'm sure we can come to some sort of monthly payment agreement. :D

Cheers Tetsuwan Convoy :) Yeah, I was aware of that discussion... really just wanted to know if anyone (current members that is) think it's worthwhile since the price drop.
Thanks for your thoughts. I'll think it over some more.

That Sideburn one is covered in the membership cost.
Beware of buying anything else though, as that is when they slug you. This years punch order they charged us WA folks an extra $60 over the actual cost of postage.
A scout sized figure fetches about $30 odd dollars I think.

Yep, postage of the membership toy and 6 magazines is covered by the annual fee. All other exclusives and toys from their web-store charge shipping, and most of the time well above what it costs (and when it is under-quoted, they charge the difference - but no refund when over-quoted...).
But fortunately, members can buy exclusives for non-members, so everyone doesn't need to be a member, just enough to cover everyone who wants the various exclusives.
At least they finally discounted the foreign rate, after about a year of saving money from no longer posting out 6 issues of their classifieds publication. But only an $11 discount...

Sold! My main issue with the club is them screwing over international customers, so I approve of them screwing us over that little bit less. Plus, the Australian dollar seems to have just overtaken the U.S. one according to XE.com.
Now off to look at the Collectors' Club members only section...

So if I pay $78US for the membership fee i'll get Sideburn and the 6 magazines at no additional postage fees? hmm...
if more SA members actually did groups orders it would probably be worthwhile for me.

I've been a member from day one, so may be biased, but its definitely worth joining for the ongoing comic and profiles. Its not like you're going to see many toys we don't see early on ebay or linked from tfw2005, but the exclusive figures are great.
You just need to know HOW to buy them. The shipping is astromical, so you'll want to have it sent via a third party remailer, like shipito.com, etc. You'll save a fortune by not buying it on ebay months later.

No I have the international membership for the magazine/comic,
but you can specify an alternate shipping address on their store. it makes things so much more affordable
