Absolutely loving Wheeljack, and a repaint and slight mod on Frenzy/Rumble would make a perfect Slag.

I don't mind these pics as it's good to see the figures minus the Photoshopping. ;):D
Wheeljack was an instabuy anyway, as is Scourge and Laser Rod Prime.
I'm still not sold on Frenzy or Rumble, I think I'll stick with my (Not)Frenzy/Rumble PE figures. :o

Ahh these are so bought... next year can't come soon enough.

And if those are the hasbro pics.. what would the United v. of Wheeljack look like? :D

Scourge is def buy.

I think I'll be getting atleast 2 Wheeljacks because he's my fav so far and looks too good.

I was not going to get F & R but those pics almost made me reconsider- will have to look at size and more reviews before I bite but they look really awesome.

The more pics of G2 prime I see the bigger the urge to bite aswell... ARGHHHH

I have to say if these are indeed Hasbro versions- the paint apps are much improved from classics/universe. Maybe it's since we haven't seen united versions to compare.

Damn I reckon it will be hard to find wheeljack. Scalpers will have a field day with this wave & Wheeljack- all F-R g2 primes and scourges galore while wheeljack will be nowhere to be seen.

Yeah but remember that the original G2 Laser Prime was just an awesome masterpiece of a toy (even by current standards it still holds up pretty well for a 15 year old mould!). Also the original was a larger and more expensive figure (I paid over $100 for mine from Toyworld - and this was back when $20 would buy me a week's worth of fuel!), whereas this appears to be a smaller and relatively cheaper Deluxe.

I'm convinced the mould was made the 'jack and shoehorned into tracks. I'll grab 'em all!
Having handled Tracks IRL, I agree. When I saw Tracks' gun I instantly recognised it as Wheeljack's missile launcher. :) But hey... it works. The wings are a bit small for Tracks, but it works well enough. Interesting to see Wheeljack holding Tracks' missiles as hand held batons.

Time for a relay race! :D

Actually, it isn't. The opinion that that "everything Takara does is by default better than Hasbro" is indeed still alive and kicking. I, for one, am of that exact opinion. But as soon as you use the word "fallacy", your statement loses its validity, as opinions, by definition, can't be false.

Regardless, you're probably better off just stating your own opinion, as opposed to critiquing anyone else's.

Well in fairness it is a fallacy. Not everything Takara does is better than Hasbro. Not everything Hasbro does is better than Takara.

It still escapes me why this is a consistently touchy subject.

I think he is getting at the fact that someone may believe that everything Takara does is better than Hasbro, and as such is their own opinion.

Although opinions can be false, in this case it comes down to how they feel about the subject.

True though that it still gets people ryled up about it is beyond me as well.

That's still only your opinion. You are entitled to yours as is everyone else.

As to the subject's touchiness, I can't seem to find any posts in this thread mentioning any such opinions, so I don't know why you decried it in the first place.

GoktimusPrime

Well in fairness it is a fallacy. Not everything Takara does is better than Hasbro. Not everything Hasbro does is better than Takara.

Whether something is "better" or not can be highly subjective because we all have different standards. I often talk about what I prefer, but that's not to say it's inherently better or worse. For example I much prefer the colours of Henkei Megatron over Classics Megatron's "Clown Colours." But that's not to say that Henkei Megatron's colours are inherently better or worse than Classics Megatron's. If someone happens to like bright clown colours then Classics Megatron would be better for them. When it comes to opinions it's really a matter of personal preference.

If someone actually happens to prefer everything Takara does over Hasbro, then from that person's point of view, it's true. I personally think Hasbro's MP Starscream was better done than Takara's, and I also prefer Hasbro's MP Grimlock with the G1 toy-accurate colours and crown over TOMY's (some people think the Limited MP Grimlock looks nice, but I've personally never been a fan of Yomtov's colouring, so naturally a toy inspired by his colouring holds no appeal to me). But say if someone else preferred Takara's "Greenscream" (it does have arguably a more realistic looking colour scheme for the alt mode) as well as TOMY's version(s) of MP Grimlock - and let's just say this person preferred all the TakaraTOMY versions of every Transformer, even if there's no difference with the toy (maybe they prefer the packaging, collectable tech spec cards, catalogues etc.)... then how is it a 'fallacy' to them that everything TakaraTOMY does is better than Hasbro?

We can argue that things are correct or incorrect when it comes to facts, but not so much with opinions due to the inherent subjectivity of the whole thing.

I was saying recently that RID Scourge is a character that had an important and cool role in the fiction (even if it did start the Nemesis Prime trend), while Laser Rod Prime was just some toy from G2 that I knew about but never had and never had any nostalgia for.

Hmmm, dissapointed with the sizing, I guess he can be the match for galvatron in my liege Classicverse.... but as Sifun said on the gray's it's not really looking good... it doesnt have a trailer too so i guess we'll be seeing a third party trailer for this sometime after release:rolleyes:? Id still get it, if only for the nostalgia, after all with that sizing Im sure it wont be Voyager pricing - unless they (Hasbro) decides to put it in a Voyager box for the sake of bigger sales:rolleyes:;) - when we all know that the toy is a freaking deluxe - looks at Animated Lugnut (dont care if the toy is awesome - tell it as it is - a deluxe IS a deluxe, dammit!!)

I would only be dissapointed size wise if it was in a box bigger than Deluxe size. I give Hasbro enough money when I buy a Deluxe, when it gets upped to standard local voyager cost that's going too far.:(

I agree, this figure took me by surprise. I expected the engineering to be a bit on the simple 'shell cape' but that's not the case here, a nice feat of innovative engineering.

I was amazed at how there is hardly any undercarriage with the alt mode being almost flat. I was blown away when the wing bits opened up to reveal the weapons. I thought the weapons were going to be a non transforming Fracas but it seems like a completely new weapon that splits in two.

The only thing that I found a bit odd is that the landing gears seem to be backwards (two wheels at the front, one at the back) which would make a pretty difficult landing and take off but aside from that, it's superb.

Ha! both of you are spot on! :D

In this case I'm almost certain that the center wheel should be mounted towards the front end of the fuselage because, as 1AZRAEL1 referenced, Scourge doesn't have a 'front and center' mounted prop and engine.

Here's an example:

I think you guys are way too picky! Lol :D

It's a toy based upon a fictional aircraft to start with, so whether the landing gear placement makes it difficult to take off or land serves no real relevance - it's a non-existent aircraft, it's all fictional! :p

Indeed, you're dead-right Vector,
I myself have a quibble with it though as it may cause the Alt mode to not display correctly, i.e. because the central landing gear is too tall and too far back it pushes it over?

RTS Windcharger bio

Windcharger isn't precisely the fastest Autobot on the ground, but he does have the highest acceleration. Heedless of any passengers he might be carrying, he goes from zero to 130 miles per hour in less than a second, and screeches to a stop almost as fast. His overloaded power plant generates a strong electromagnetic field, which he can direct into powerful blasts from the cannons in his arms.

Out in the US in January. I'm wondering if Scourge has the standard peg holes for the weapon, if so then Universe Cyclonus and Scourge might swap weapons so Scourge can get a targetmaster - I have Henkei Cyclonus so it's not like I need two Cyclonean targetmasters.

Perceptor, Kup and Scourge are the definite must haves in this lot IMHO - can't wait for them to be available for pre-order. :)

On a side note, Scourge is really stretching the dimensions of the deluxe packaging bubble!

Nice!

Doesn't look half bad. Will pick up both rumble and frenzy. Def glad I didn't pre order the united v- this paint scheme doesn't look that bad and comparing the price. Too bad the $8 scout sale will be over by the time this guy's released...

Likewise... on the RK (http://www.robotkingdom.com/services/eshop/main.php?action=details&CatType=Category&II=TFUN20&lang=us&CatID=78) website, they're both listed as a 2-pack for the same price as a Voyager toy - worthwhile if they were Deluxe size, but not worth it IMHO now that they've been announced as Scout size.

haha RK will definately have to adjust their prices and refund those that pre-ordered! hope it gives them a massive headache >:]

Stupid Hasbro. I assume the TakaraTomy version will get it 'right', otherwise the Japanese fans won't have any idea why the colours have been switched.

I probably would have bought Frenzy, but I don't want it if it's called Demolition Rumble.

Same here. Would you be up for a group order in the event that TOMY goes with RIRFIB? If it were pre-merger Takara I'd have no doubt they'd go with RIRFIB... but with TOMY... who knows. It wouldn't surprised me if they went with FIRRIB and confused the fuji out of Japanese fans. :/

What I reckon Hasbro should do is randomly package these toys, so that you can get RIRFIB or FIRRIB, entirely depending on which packaging you get! (much like how Bumblejumper was officially either Bumblebee or Cliffjumper depending on which card he was packaged on). :) But knowing my luck, I'd only find FIRRIBs around my local stores if that happened :/

Are you comparing Hasbro's upcoming release of a scout vs. TakaraTomy's release of two scouts in Voyager packaging? Unless I'm missing something, I can't imagine why you would think the Hasbro release would affect TakaraTomy's product and/or RK's pricing of it.

yes? $40US is way too expensive for 2 scouts.

Well, it sounds like your complaint should be more directed at TT for bundling two scouts as a voyager. As to the price, US$40, that's pretty standard fare for an imported voyager. RK's price is based on their buy price from Hasbro HK, not what 2 x scouts sell for in the anglo world.

The United toy looks nicer, though I'm not fond of the generic packaging. At least Hasbro went to the effort of giving their Generations toys individual package art. Generations Soundwave isn't bad... but TOMY's definitely looks nicer IMO.

Gah on the United packaging. Why did they have to go all 'American' again after Animated. The generic art and the angle of the packaging bubble annoy my MOSC Collector side.

Just as well the final toys look to be very metalic and very nice.

There's no real difference IMO to make me want to buy the United version. If I hadn't already bought the Hasbro one, I might have considered it, but for sheer convenience sake I probably would opt for the local Hasbro release.

Either way, it's Soundwave and both are full of win

*Edit: Seems Wreck-gar suffers from a little too much Hasbro Grey(TM) - Hopefully United will fix this. :o

Best... Wreck-Gar... EVER!!

Wasn't a fan of the G1 or Animated versions, but RtS has finally given us what I consider to be the ultimate incarnation of the character. I may even consider buying multiples to create my Junkion army :D

Of interesting note in Peaugh's review, he mentions hearing of a rumour regarding an official Hasbro Arcee toy. Not that I'm looking to replace my Animated version, but it would be nice to have a Classics version to fit with the rest of the cast. The wait may finally be over soon.

and in true Hasbro "tradition" will can the project before it ever sees the light of day....or make it into a bike.... again.... for the umphteeeenth time and force it down out throats that Arcee was a bike, uh huh- I was just hallucinating then when I was watching the 80s cartoons and "that pink car is apparently a bike".

Agree with you on Best Wreckgar ever! Just hoping a third party source makes alternate heads to make a whole slew of new characters - Junkions.;)

Despite the fact that Animated Arcee was a car.

I'd love to see a Classicsverse Arcee. I like Animated Arcee, and she's the closest official toy that looks like G1 Arcee, but she still does look too "Animated" to really fit in with Classicsverse IMO. If done properly, a Classicsverse Arcee should look even closer to G1 Arcee.

Why is it taking so long for a Takara-Tomy United Kup pic?

Are you referring to a comparison pic between the Generations and the United version or just a pic of the United one in general?

The (purportedly) United ones on their own can be found here (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/first-look-at-transformers-united-kup/20003/).

The Generations pics that have been floating around look very similar too, so it's hard to say which is which until at least one of them has been released I think.

Seeing as the Generations version is scheduled to launch overseas later this week (or early next week) and the United one is not due till late February, I'm guesstimating we should see a side by side comparison pic by late January (hopefully).

Someone said that pic is using the Hasbro release as a sample. Apparently it says so in the watermark writing.

Hence the reason why I said purportedly ;)

IMO, the United one probably hasn't been finalised yet, hence the lack of pictures floating around - remember, it wasn't even until recently that we saw the United pics of Generation figures that had been released months ago (WFC characters, Drift, etc)

Kup and Scourge available in Malaysia now (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/generations-kup-scourge-now-available-in-malaysia/20571/)

Something I note, is the wing display for Scourge is different in this picture than other ones we have seen. I kinda like it like this instead, looks more reminiscent of G1. Now I have to choose how to display him, and his armarda :D
