First, thanks to Bruticus and Grimlock531 for their help with figuring out how to remove the door panels.
This was made by swapping bits between a Sideswipe I have lying around for a custom and Red Alert.
Red Alert now has Sideswipe's white arms, thighs (but I kept Red Alert's red highlights and knee joints), head piece and central column piece (the thing the head goes up and down in), plus Swipe's pelvis.
I can't figure out how to remove the grey panel underneath the car hood but I quite like it...
I also gave Red Alert Sideswipe's gun and engine block (didn't like Red's unpainted gun and engine)

Looks even better than it did before. Wish I could be bothered to do something similar with mine when I get him.

yeah, i never figured out how to "safely" remove that part either...
it has solid metal bolt that connects it too the hood.

i think to remove the grey part under the hood you have to heat the pins with a soldering iron and then it just pops off

An hour later, and done! Does this make me a kitbasher? :p
I kept the white shoulders on Red Alert, but swapped the red swivel joints from Sideswipe's tyres. I also swapped the red and white ankle joints between them. If anyone does work out how to change the panel under the car hood be sure to let me know. The white on Sideswipe just doesn't look right now.
EDIT: Just saw loopholes's suggestion. Don't think I'll be doing that. :(

Just confirming, using a soldering iron does work. It is a bit risky though. Might I also suggest changing the upper arms to red as well, involves removing pins, but well worth it IMO. Here's my version.

Nicely done. I initially wanted to do mine like this but the pin removal put me off (I've done it only a couple of times) so I went with the red shoulders.
Just think there can be an army of Red Alerts out there now, all with subtle differences.
