Not sure when, but looks like the US are getting another batch of Transformers movie Happymeal toys (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/transformers-movie-toys--products-30/transformers-happy-meal-site-now-active-170943/).
They've just recently been added to the Mcdonalds website, and the main page says its the next HM promotion - so isn't promoting TF3.

Six figures - Optimus, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Megatron, Starscream, Blackout.
Non-converting, but each has a different play gimmick.

I've been satisfied with the McDonald Happy Meal Transformers that we've gotten in Australia so far (their Beast Wars TFs were decent and their Armada TFs were full of win). Hungry Jack's on the other hand have never released Meal Transformers. I'm not saying that Hungry Jack's Transformers would necessarily be bad - but considering that we have no precedent of Hungry Jack's releasing Transformers, and IMO the Maccas TFs that we've had here thus far haven't been bad (whereas some of the Red Rooster TFs were pretty forgettable), then I would reserve judgement about whether or not Hungry Jack TFs would be better or worse than Macca's.

In terms of being cheap Happy Meal toys, I think the McDonalds ones are alright. They typically have limited articulation, but what do you expect from a $2 kids meal toy. More importantly, all McDonald Transformers released in Australia so far have been able to transform. Being able to transform into unarticulated robots... it doesn't make them that much worse than some G1 figures like the Battlechargers, Throttlebots or Firecons.

IMO the Happy Meal Armada figures are the best Kids Meal Transformer toys ever made. They can transform, they have individual gimmicks (some work better than others - Starscream's Jumpstarter gimmick actually works better than the G1 Jumpstarters ever did!), they have Mini-Con ports that are compatible with actual Mini-Cons, and on top of all that, they can combine to form gestalt modes -- unlike say, ROTF Combiner Class Devastator! :p That's bucketloads of awesome for a bunch of toys that you could buy with the spare change in your pocket! :D

I've been far less impressed with Red Rooster's movie and ROTF meal toys thus far. Most of them have been non-transforming figures or non-figure toys like the puzzle cube or dog tags. I much prefer what we got from Maccas thanks.

Then there were the transformable McDonald toys from the 1980s (e.g. French Fries, Big Mac, Nuggets, Big Breakfast, drink cup etc.) - they were actually marketed as Transformers in some regions (but not here).

Yeah, Animated Prime was awesome. Very similar transformation to the original G1 Prime. My fav is still Armada Unicron though. He loves burgers nom nom... :p

1st Movie Red Rooster toys weren't that bad (such as Action Master Bumblebee and Skateboard Prime), though ROTF's line-up lacked Transformers themselves (aside from giving a new meaning to 'Blocktimus Prime'). :p

Action Master Pretender Vehicle Bumblebee = fail
At least Macca's Meal Transformers could ya know... TRANSFORM. Red Rooster's Beast Machines meal toys could transform too, but they weren't that good IMO, but then again they were based on difficult Beast Machines show models. Wheel-legged Rattrap and Jetstorm just can't stand properly. And Rattrap has no elbow articulation (apparently the American version had elbow articulation). McDonalds Transformers could transform and some of them had gimmicks on top of that (e.g. power linx ports, gestalt combination, infrared remote control etc.) -- and yeah, having Unicron the Chaos Bringer in Happy Meal form is just all kinds of awesome! :D

I just find the Maccas meal toys a lot more fun to play with compared to Red Rooster's

TV commercial has been released in America (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/transformers-movie-toys--products-30/mcdonalds-happy-meal-transformers-tv-commercial-and-activity-sheet-170988/).
I doubt these will come here though - we don't get many Transformers promotions at Mcdonalds in Australia.

Are they still allowed to give away toys as part of a happy meal thing anymore in Australia? My addled brain recalls talk of banning this practise, or was it just WA/a dream?

No great loss though, those ones look like plastic turds...

I recall the same thing. Something about encouraging kids to eat more healthy

They are still selling Happy Meal toys though. I got one for my daughter about 2 months ago.
