I thought I might start a thread here to discuss Reprolabels (http://www.reprolabels.com/index.html) products, but to also as a place to post their monthly updates as they are quite a valuable resource for many fans and collectors and are a great bunch to deal with.
(I did a search prior to creating this thread ;))

These are their new products, shown off in their December Updates Newsletter (07/12/10):

The Device Label Blaster labels are impressive and a must get.

The Tracks one is very good for those who bought the Generations release.

hmm quite tedious sticking for the QWERTY labels on Blaster, but it improves the figure a lot.

i find the stickers quite pricey when compared to the purchase price of a deluxe transformer ~50%

I just don't like them but I presume that there is nothing wrong with them when it comes to quality, etc.

I agree, they used to have much better prices I think.

They are really good, although I'm yet to purchase a reproduction set 'technically', I have bought the Classics/FansProject Ultra Magnus and MusicLabel Soundwave upgrade sets and I've gotta say, they are awesome quality. :D
Aaron, the bloke I've dealt with, is a very patient and pleasant bloke to converse with and was more than willing to explain to offer advice and help. ;):)

Some time in the next quarter I intended on making a large purchase, Like a ridiculous amount of G1 Reproduction stickers :p, so I might post here if anyone would like to join me in a group order.

Perhaps, if anyone has the time or will, members could post some pics of what they've repro'ed or upgraded? - I'll try and take some new shots of my Magnus and Soundwave shortly. :)

I'm with you here Kup, they are a bit of a detraction, especially the Explorer ones - but maybe one could, if they like the rest enough, pick and choose which ones to apply?, I know I've considered it but yeah, a bit of a waste though. :o

I'm not too fussed on the price variances though, so long as the top notch quality doesn't dip. ;)

I hope this is an isolated incident but I had problems with the Classic Pretender labels I bought.

Starscream's chest stickers on the shell kept peeling off and I had to use a glue stick paste to keep them in place. Jazz's Pretender helmet metallic red visor sticker flaked and I had to paint over it.

It's mostly G1s anyhow:) My g1s aint in the best conditions but the repro stickers sure add afeeling of "newness" to em, even if just a bit hehehe.:D:D
Ill start taking pics and post it on the thread once Ive finished.

ok, here we go now, G1 bots mostly. Now some of them I couldnt be bothered removing the stickers completely so at time I just cover up the old stickies with the reprolabel ones so it looks lumpy :o add to that that my dexterity in applying stickies aint as it used to be. As also mentioned my bots are on the c7 grade so they wont be as pristine as say HD's heheheh
Whenever possible I have included the used up sheet ( if I managed to keep em) next to the figure. Pardon the sizing, Photobucket editing software must be buggy coz after an hour of attempts cropping and resizing the pics it wont save my editing of the pics which is really frustrating and annoying.

C7 or not Liege dude, those look absolutely amazing! ;):D
It's insane how much of a difference a fresh set of stickers can make to an old figure and the upgrade sets are actually quite tasteful too, nothing too over the top or detracting from the original look!

I'm definitely gonna order a heap now once I get MP Rodimus and the Classicsverse figures out of the road, saving little bits at a time to build up for one big haul of stickers! :D
I'll try and get the pics I'm promised up tomorrow, if you've got more Liege? - post more dude they are really good shots.

All loose samples of them that I have seen suffer from the same 'wrinkly' or 'flaky' sticker problem. I could tell that it was just stickers that didn't stand to the test of time rather than play wear since aside from that, the figures were superb.

Upgrade kit and plain set for Rodimus Prime = 2 variant set of stickies - solution 2 variant Rodimus Primes:D - one rubber wheeled, the other plastic wheeled

The '84-'85 aged toys are the ones that look the best when the new stickers are applied. By '86 the stickers begun to be somewhat 'cluttered' as Liege puts it, specially on the Sci-Fi alt modes.

though some stickers like that of Brainstorm is just very pretty, it really livens up the plain looking figure... the Pretender stickers though are kinda meh, especially the Decpticons - clear colored ones on a dark plastic (purple et al) just looks ...dirty.

I'm making a new years card for my inlaws atm, and this post popped into my head! Whenever one of my stickers starts to peel i re-stick it with double sided tape. We bought a roll of the stuff for making these cards for about $5, but it's excellent for re-applying stickers; easy to apply and sticks real good. I'm not sure what glue you're using, but i'd imagine it's messier and way more finnicky than tape! Worth a shot if you have stickers that are otherwise fine but have just lost their adhesiveness.

That's coz they were mail away bots, and in those days, kids dont have enough say so with regards to getting the mail away stuff, especially if you dont live in the US. Even if you collected enough robo points I dont think the parents could be bothered to add the dollars and mail it so you could get your toy :(. But somehow thank goodness these are now available via ebay and such. I got mine piecemeal coz the little weapons were so easy to loose. A little H2O2 bath should fix downshift but I havent gotten around to it.:o:o

For $21, this set of stickers is completely invaluable in my situation as the odds of finding a genuine unused G1 Scorponok sticker sheet is basically slim to nil and they go an extraordinarily long way in completing the look of this pure Awesomesauce figure. :D:cool:

Their quality is top notch, as usual, they seem very slightly thicker though (Like a couple of microns ) but this is negated by the fact that they have the same texture as the originals; which is sort of hard to explain how they feel though, you kind of have to have the figure in hand to really know what I mean. :o
(They were also a million times easier to apply than the WST Soundwave stickers too! :p)

Congratulations! It is indeed amazing how much life a new set of stickers can bring to figure.

When it comes to sticker quality, I have noticed the thickness too. I think Reprolabels have dropped a notch in quality from what they used to be.

There was a tiny defect in one of the leg stickers on counterpunch but you really dont notice it unless you look for it. for my first reprolabel venture it is a massie improvement from the naked PCP he was! it is amazing what some stickers doo!

Reading through this thread, it seems a lot of collectors (myself included) are turning to reprolabels or similar to enhance, bring new life and\or improve a purchased transformer toy that is missing or has damaged stickers\labels. This is a win win for all involved no doubt...but my question is this:

Would you be detracted from purchasing a G1 transformer that has had repro labels already attached?

Here's an example of what I'm asking with more questions...

Lets say we had two G1 toys of the same character/era up for sale with similar condition to chrome plastic rubber etc. One has original but worn or crooked stickers, the other has had most or all of the original stickers replaced with repro stickers...

Which would you buy if they were similarly priced?

Do you guys think a toy with repro stickers is as valuable as a toy with no stickers or damaged stickers or would you say a toy that has repro stickers is now more valuable than the later?

Thanks in advance guys...I'd be interested to hear your comments.

Id go for the once with better stickers, it's the same toy, yes. BUt, if the other had better stickies already applied ... then that takes a load of work of me so Id go for that :). See, even if I ended up with the other one with the dilapidated stickers, I'm going to purchase reprolabels for it one day anyhow, so in the end it's cheaper to get one with stickies applied already - less work for me applying it and less spending buying the stickers, less wait to :p.

Value nowadays is so dependent on who's the target market. Although there are figures which are indeed going to stay up due to rarity and all that but it's subjective and depends on how much a person is willing to pay to get the item. IMO though a 1984 figure, be it with repro stickers is just as valuable as a naked one. Of course sellers usually add a bit more to the price to recoup their purchase of the stickers. but between a naked toy and a reproed one, Id go for the reproed - for reasons stated above. Of course if the repro stickies were applied wrongly:mad::mad::mad: ( id be cursing the one who applied them wrongly but not so loud:p coz I'd have to redo them)

For me, I wont mind if a figure has had reprolabels applied so long as I can get a guaranteed assurance that the figure itself isn't a fake; If I were to sell a figure that had Reprolabels applied, you can damn well bet that I'd disclose such a detail. ;):)

Yep, I agree with Liege, Hursti and 5FDP.

As long as I am sure the figure is legit, the state of the stickers is not an issue. I can just replace them with Repro stickers later if i choose. Lately I haven't, but I will soon do a big order of stickers.

I can definitely see how having them already applied for you could add more appeal especially if you would of done it yourself anyway

Thanks for your response...I know I'd like to know if it had original or repro stickers before I committed to the buy...and unless you have the toy in your hand sometimes it can be hard to tell from photos. Honesty from the seller is very important :)

Yeah I wouldn't sell my bots that I had invested money and time to get repro stickers for either unless i got an upgraded toy with original stickers...then I'd want to offload my repro labeled double. So I'm wondering if you would buy a transformer with repro labels? Assuming you were in the market for that particular character...

As long as the stickers were applied carefully I wouldn't mind that it had repros. Many of the original Transformers had foil stickers which would over time peel and fold all by themselves so I would prefer to replace them altogether rather than use 'other means' e.g. sticky tape, to improve the look of the toy.

Issues with 3rd party sellers online, as well as any online retailer, are well documented. Lost orders, broken products that are not replaced, exorbitant shipping costs, scalper pricing. I wanted to report some experiences I've had with the Reprolabels crew.

A couple of months ago, I ordered some stickers, specifically for Generations Blurr. The sticker sheet was not cut too well, and several stickers tore when I removed them from the backing. I emailed Reprolabels (politely) about it. Within 24 hours, I had an email acknowledging the issue and promising to rectify it. By this stage I had another order in with them, so they sent a replacement sheet for Blurr with that order.

On another occasion, I only received one of a 2-part sheet. They again apologised and rectified the issue immediately, shipping the correct order out to me at their own cost.

In my experience, they genuinely take customer service seriously. That kind of thing Is not as common as it should be. They don't always get things perfect, but they acknowledge it, apologise for it and fix it immediately. Kudos to them. I'm a customer for life, and I can't recommend them highly enough.

It's a big set, 4 sheets, and adds a good amount of detail to Sounwave without being too obtrusive. I forgot to mention there are 2 more cassette covers included in the set, to satisfy both sides of the RIRFIB/RIBFIR debate.

I added it to the cart and it looks like you don't need to buy anything else so with shipping your looking at just US $3.01.

I would highly recommend looking through their inventory however as they definitely have some nice sets that will really enhance you TF's :D

Wow I remember buying from these guys when they first started up. There was no paypal back then and international bank cheques or western union money orders were too expensive for small purchases. I used to goto the bank and buy US cash and tape it up in cardboard (so it wasn't so conspicuous :p) and send it off to Aaron. Thankfully the money always got there and a few weeks later I got my stickers :) Ah the good ol days ;)

I have had labels take up to 6 weeks, but I blame the unreliability of Canadian post rather than Reprolabels being slack. That being said, I think they can tend to take a little longer to fulfil orders at times just after they do an update, which is understandable considering the extra volume they would be dealing with at those times.

And here are the after. I learned a few good lessons. I used the flat blade tweezers. You need to be careful to use the whole blade if you need to peel back a sticker to align it properly after it has stuck a bit. You can see where the ends of the tweezer blade has created what looks like small bubbles. It is quite obvious on the side shots.

just received my most recent order, pretty much exactly 30days after placing it (not unexpected with the new year and all.
Gen. Brainstorm, Gen. Blitzing, Gen. Orion Pax (last two for my Takara Gen. versions) and RTS Perceptor & Gen. Kup (last two for my Gen. Asia Excl versions)

Brainstorm: Awesome, definitely more comic accurate, no need to get the Takara version for me.
Wheeljack: Definitely needed now I see him as he is.
Blitzwing: Purple doesn't quite match, but that's probably due to it being designed for the Hasbro version, but the difference isn't too glaring, and I like the added contrast/tone.
Orion Pax: Adds extra shiny to an already shiny figure, can't go wrong there.
Perceptor: Didn't use all the labels, just the ones I felt add to his character - might use some of the spares on my RTS Preceptor.
Kup: With both Anime and G1 accurate stickers, I used the anime on the Asia Excl Kup, tempted to use the G1 stickers on my standard Gen Kup, simply because there's enough there to double up - license plates, mirrors, faction symbols etc. Just missing extra rear"windows" (aka plain silver) - but otherwise all good.

I think that's my back catalogue of figures all labelled up now (every time I order labels for a new figure, I also order a couple of sets for older characters I hadn't been bothered with in the past - in this case it was one new [Braintorm] and four older ones )

EDIT: Will post some pics later on

Looks like they've finally updated their site, and releases a bunch of new sets. Details here. (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/reprolabelss-largest-update-ever/32763/)

Personally interesting for me are the CW sets, they've got most of Wave 1 &!2 sorted, just missing Blackjack, Air Raid and Off Road. Will also be getting the Leader a Megatron set, Planet X Caelus, Tankor and the older Junkion sets.
