Hey guys. I have of late, been finishing off a major project that has been in the works for a good 22 years. A 1/25 scale model of my Dad's first truck. Only this model has the little tweaks that he wanted to do to the real thing but never got the chance or money to do them.
When I say 22 years, means my Dad started the idea of the scale model replica when he lost his truck license for an over weight obstruction. Leaving him stuck at home for 6 to 8 weeks.

It started life as a gloss white flat cab Kenworth K-125, and with Dad's modifications it would become a Kenworth K-100 Aerodyne. But after starting sub contracting work for a company by the name Graeme O'Brian Transport. (Now known as Albury Blue.) Dad didn't have time for making his truck look any different, he was there for work and work only. 6 Months went by and Dad was beginning to drive himself into oblivion. So, put a driver into the truck. Alowing Dad to focus on repairs, upgrades and any family crap he had missed out on while on the road. After only 3 weeks behind the wheel. The driver, who will from now on be called Albert, over did something that will be not be named in case we get into trouble, and crashed, killing the truck's cab but leaving the chassis in working order, with only a few repairs needed.
Albert was ok.
Dropping a new K-100 cab onto the K-125 frame and throwing in a CAT N16 for good measure. The truck was now a New/Old Kenworth K-2550 (according to me:D). The truck was reborn.
It sat in Mr O'Brian's shed for almost a full year before, He asked my Dad what he was going to do with it. Repaint the cab and redo the interior. is all Dad wanted to do, but Graeme had other ideas, asking Dad if he could buy the truck and giving Dad a full time Interstate job, Running Sydney, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra & Adelaide. But for a job like this, the truck needs to be livable, and bigger, better.... And if you ask any truck driver. Has to look the part as well. While in the design possess, the truck had a repaint, to what you can see above and was running Melbourne, Sydney Shuttle runs. (Thats from Albury to Melbourne, Back to Albury then straight through to Sydney. All with out stopping. only for fuel and to load and unload) During one run, the driver, I don't know who. but he got out a a servo to get some food and a coffee, and there, a mate of his, dropped the trailer, waited for the driver to come out. And drove off. Never to return. A year later the truck turned up at a wreckers after a head on with another truck. Nothing on the truck could be used again. Graeme, paid Dad for the truck, and bought a new Cabover Kenworth, putting dad in that. A good 2 years after starting in the new truck Graeme bought. Dad was booked for being over weight and lost his license. One day after a drinking session dad came home to find a box sitting on the door step addressed to him.Sobering up enough to open it with out breaking it or cutting him self with the knife. He discovered the model....

Now, after moving 4 times and being played with by me as a child. the original model is gone... but I was able to track down one that had been sitting in a guys shed for over 24 years and this is it sofar... http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff1/turtleboy411/100_3771.jpg
Well actually, its come a little further since that photo was taken, but yes... that gives you the general idea.
