It's realistic enough. According to BBTS the 4 pack wave consists of Scourge, Sergeant Kup, Thundercracker and Wheeljack. Wheeljack is another new announcement.
Some are speculating that maybe Thundercracker is a War for Cybertron mold. But you'd think they would release Starscream first.

Well it about time!
Good news for those that are after a Generations Thundercracker to complete their set. I missed out on Skywarp and would love to see them reissue him on his own so I don't have to pay inflated prices on eBay for a toy that's not even MISB (no interest in Magnus).
Having said that though, I'm satisfied owning the RM versions of Thundercracker and Skywarp.

I still hold fast in my belief that it's either not G1 blue (rather Action Master, G2, or whatever) or not the Classics seeker mold (rather WFC)
However, I hope for everyone's sake that wants a G1 Thundercracker, you get what you want.

That's probably the best color they could come up with for this release. It is appealing yet different to the previous 'Classics Thundercracker' releases and will not pee off the Botcon people.

Even if there was some sort of agreement of exclusivity, it is Hasbro's prerogative as the property owner to produce any item it sees fit, at any time. FunPub essentially 'beg' Hasbro to produce these toys, so they won't risk cutting themselves from the source by complaining about it.
We've also seen other exclusives appear at sources other than their initial store (like the TF1 Target Scouts, SDCC Alternators, etc) and those stores still 'beg' for more - there were probably disclaimers or jurisdiction issues that allows Hasbro to re-release or redeco any figure at any time. Hasbro owns the moulds, the characters and all associated concepts (like colour schemes), so can do anything they want.
And even if this one was the exact same deco as the BotCon one, it will be almost 4 years since that earlier one, so I think it's been enough time for people to not be as upset about it, as those collectors will have had 4 years of 'elitism', and the toys will still be worth a lot as BotCon exclusives.

Kinda suprised they didn't go with the cartoon light blue.
Looks like they did the same thing that BotCon did and gave Thundercracker a 'medium' blue. Not as light as the cartoon, but not as dark as the original G1 toy and Marvel comics. So it's like a compromise to appease both groups of fans, which I think works well. :)

I already have Gentei Thundercracker, but I'll pick up a RtS Thundercracker too. :D Scourge's wings look a bit weird -- but that's just my G1 fanboy bias kicking in. Objectively speaking Scourge's alt mode looks a lot better than G1 Scourge's since it's clearly meant to be a bomber jet (whereas G1 Scourge's alt mode seriously looks like a boat! :P)

If Dirge and Thrust are any indication... for sure.
After Kup, Scourge, Jazz and now Thundercracker (and I'm sure there are others), I will most likely not bother buying Botcon Classics-ish toys any more, especially if they're major characters, as it now seems pretty certain that Hasbro or TT will eventually provide. Personally, I think that's a much more preferable option, as FunPub hasn't done anything for me lately (read: ever), and obviously the mass market price is considerably better.
Remaining Botcon Classics-ish characters I can think of that haven't hit mass market:
Sharkticon
Dreadwind
Bug Bite (obscure character)
Any others?

It depends on what you count, but I'd say Weirdwolf, Huffer, Alpha Trion and Elita-1 still fall into that category. Plus there are toys that have Classicy versions in different moulds - Springer, Ratchet, Ironhide, Kup, Scourge etc.
Lord_Zed

A Generations Dreadwind would rock, but I wonder how many fans it would tick off. Plus we got Darkwind not a year ago.
Still I'd love to see Hasbro make a combining Dreadwing.
AM Thundercracker would have made a great Botcon toy this year, seems weird they didn't go for it, maybe they are saving him for the TF club.

24th December 2010, 07:56 PM
One thing I just realised is that those official images are usually over-coloured, so the actual Thundercracker may well end up being a lighter shade of blue. Probably not as light as the cartoon version, but could end up being a different enough colour from the BotCon or JP versions to help them keep their uniqueness/value.
And perhaps FunPub's exclusives/redecos are like a catch-22 - they want them to be popular enough to sell out, but if they are too popular, Hasbro might see the value in releasing them to the general market.

When TC reaches aussie stores I probably can't be stuffed trying to find Starscream or Skywarp molds because of their current rarity and price and will now buy 3 TCs and repaint 2 of them! Or should it be 4 for Sunstorm too? WOO!

I'd agree with all of those.
And in the cases of Springer, Ratchet, Ironhide, Kup & Scourge, they've all seen after-Botcon mass-market releases (although Springer as only a repaint). The first four are a bit more obscure, but I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually see a mass-market Huffer.
To me, something like AM or G2 Thundercracker would be so much more suited to a Botcon release. It's more obscure, has considerably less mass-market appeal and considerably more hardcore-fan appeal.

It's funny that people forget that at the time the Botcon set was released Hasbro had no plans to continue the Classics line. It was an interim line with limited mould designed to tide people over until the movie. Cue the 2007 movie, all efforts were being placed in that, and therefore no Classics toys were on the horizon, so FunPub asked if they could pick up the slack and Hasbro actually tried to do right by the fans by saying yes to FunPub.
Now that Hasbro's plan seems to be to alternate between a Movie line and a Classic line, there is a greater desire from within Hasbro to complete certain collections of figures (eg: the seekers, the Autobot cars, etc).
With that all said, the TC images look awesome! And again following in Hasbro's behaviour of homaging the orignal toy rather than necessarily copying the show model.

At the end of the day, yes the exclusive figures will loose a little value but they're still going to be worth far more, Hasbro will only benefit from releasing the figure so that renders the whole argument moot - like gdmetro said. ;)

At this point, nobody not even Hasbro knew that the Classics line would continue. They changed their mind shortly afterwards but the official stance at the time was that Classics were over, finished.
Yeah some crazies bought their seekers at US$300 a pop but there is no point in crying over spilled milk and we now have enough experience to judge on the likelyhood of Hasbro recreating an exclusive character for the mass market.

It has come to our attention that you are releasing the Classics Starscream mould as Generations Thundercracker.
