View Full Version : 2011 Ozformers calendar for sale

griffin
23rd December 2010, 11:39 AM
As the first of several (hopefully) Transformers commemorative items for our 15th Anniversary here at Ozformers, the 2011 Calendar is currently at the printers and should be ready in 2-3 weeks time (the wire binding is done off-site, so may not be completed until mid January).

It is a limited print run of 200.
Cost will be $10 plus postage ($2 anywhere within Australia).

POST HERE TO RESERVE/PURCHASE ONE, DON'T SEND ME A PRIVATE MESSAGE.

The Calendar is proper gloss paper and card-stock front and back covers. Full colour, and wire bound - it has the same quality and appearance of ones you'd find in stores, but half the price. The only significant difference is that the pages are single sided, to make it a little cheaper to produce, but takes up less space on the desk or wall as it'll only take up A4 space instead of A3.

Below is a pic of the sample sent to me, so note that it has plastic binding, while the completed item will have a wire binding and hole punched at the top to hang it on a hook.

http://www.toycollectors.com.au/calendar/may1.jpg

I had hoped for Hasbro permission for this, but after several emails, it looks like it's just not going to happen. Hopefully I have better luck on the other Anniversary items being planned.

Minor update - unfortunately the printing place was located in the flood zone, so I'm not likely to be getting them this week as they had promised. And, until they are able to get back to their premises for me to be able to call them, I don't even know if they were destroyed in the flood. If they were, I may have to start over, looking for a new printer service, as this one may need to repair or replace their equipment, which would take some time.
As soon as I find out for sure if and when these things are completed and ready for pickup, I'll post here.
I'm hoping that they are done and ready for pickup start of next week when the water recedes, but worst case scenario, and I need to start again, people may not get these until next month. :(

Update

Good news - the printer company was open again today after having the power restored, and confirmed that they weren't flooded out. But they said that the calendars were still at the binding company in the City... in a part that was flooded out. Fortunately, the calendars weren't damaged.
Bad news - the binding company ran out of metal bindings, but apparently some were done before they ran out... They just couldn't tell me how many, and are trying to get the completed ones shipped to me, or to see if I can go and pick them up.
So, Thursday or Friday, I'm hoping to have some in hand, and if it is less than the pre-ordered amount, they will go to those in the order of the reservations.

I will start sending out messages to those on the pre-order list in the next few days, with payment and postage details, just in case I do get them this week.

griffin
18th January 2011, 07:55 PM
BTW, just a reminder - as soon as I get them, postage will be extra for any new purchases.

The first lot of Calendars are in envelopes and ready to post Monday morning.

If you get your Calendar and don't have the 'Robot Points' in the envelope with them, let me know, as I may have missed one or two. (I put them in separately and not in the Calendar, in case it transferred ink)

Oh, and don't bother asking for another one if you did get one, as each exclusive item's 'Robot Points' is intentionally unique, and redemption will be limited to one per person. (details on the redemption offer later in the year, so don't lose them)

The Calendar comes with 5 Robot Points, which is high, as an incentive. Items with more interest or sell out in their pre-order period will have a lower value Robot Points.

Posted them out today to everyone who has paid or has the money in transit to arrive in the next day or two.
Postage ended up being $1.80, while envelopes were 16c each... making it just about exact to the estimated $2 (for those not pre-ordering).

Cost per Calendar before postage - $8.50 ($200 photography + $1400 printing + $100 peripheral expenses = $1700 / 200)
Cost per Calendar after domestic postage - $10.50

It managed to just get under the price range I was aiming for ($10), which means I have to sell 184 of the 200 to break even. But it's all a learning experience for next time.

griffin
27th January 2011, 11:57 PM
Sorry to hear about the posties crushing people's calendars. I was hoping that the thickness of them and wire binding would make it difficult to bend or fold. I even thought that if they could fold it on its own, an extra slip of cardboard (staying under the size limit of the envelope) wouldn't stop them.

My oath, charging for transferring money is positively medieval. In fact, you shouldn't have to get charged any fee's whatsoever these days (unless you go into the minuses which attracts a dishonor fee). Go St George! :D

Don't lose them you say! I recieved my calendar at my parents place in victoria, and now I'm back in sydney. after hearing about the points just the other day I found mine in the bottom of the envelope. they have travelled a long way so far and I didn't even know they were there!!:D:eek:

They are now safe and sound "Primed" for use later in the year.

Did I mention that the calendar is awesome?

You'll still only be able to redeem one copy though...

each exclusive item's 'Robot Points' is intentionally unique, and redemption will be limited to one per person.

Have updated the first posting to include everyone's payment and postage status.
If you are on the list and didn't get a PM from me with the payment/postage details, let me know.

Just remember, when you make payment - email me your address details, don't PM me, as I may not get it, or it might be delayed.

And there are a couple of people who have sent me a message about not getting robot points - if your envelope didn't have them inside, let me know and I'll either post one or email you a copy to print out yourself if you prefer.

Hey griffin,

I still haven't received mine. I was hoping it would've been posted around Jan 27/28ish.
Have you sent it? Just reminding in case it was forgotten.

Cheers,

It has been posted. I just can't remember which day, but I think it was early last week.

It should have only taken 2-3 days to get to you though.

Give it another couple of days, and I'll look at sending another one.

Guys for those who havent bought one yet or not buying one, please consider it and support Griffin.

Griffin ordered 200 due to quantities and now he has 128 left.

They cost him $10 each so he is not profiting, but down $1,280 at the moment.

So if you have friends or other people who might one want, please buy one and help him out.

I have 'softly' promoted it on my site here (http://heroicdecepticon.blogspot.com/2011/02/uniteds-and-masterpiece-sweetened-with.html). There are a number of internation TF fans that frequent my site. Hopefully they will be interested. If not, I will do a more detailed 'promotion' on my site thereafter.

Way ahead of you there :)

Griffin has sent me a small pile to take to the fair to see if people buy them.

How much will it be with shipping to SA?

griffin

Domestic shipping costs the same all over the country for this sized item, so the price is always $12 for the calendar to any Australian location.
