Hi, I'm looking into a trip to japan in the middle of the year and since quite a few board members have taken this path before I was thinking what would be recommended airlines? Or stopovers?

I'm travelling from melbourne so it looks as though I need to get to sydney first if I want a direct flight with qantas but what about others such as Japan and china airlines?

Thanks

Japan Airlines is good - great food and service. I took it once from Singapore to Japan. Lots of pretty air stewardess as well. :p

I flew Jetstar from Melb -> Gold Coast then Gold Coast -> Tokyo.

It wasn't the most comfortable of flights but it was a heck of a lot cheaper than the alternatives at the time I was booking. Discomfort was probably due to the duration and the fact that it was a daytime flight more than the airline itself.

Good choice! I flew with Singapore when I last went. Seats were really comfortable (I am skinny though) and the service was top notch.

Extra tip: I found exchange rates at Singapore airport by far the best compared to Sydney and Japan.
