(mods, would you mind making this a poll as iPhone thread creation is nowhere near as fun...) (thanks!)

I got ridiculously lucky while shopping in the city today and managed to pick up Scourge from the upcoming/latest Generations line! Wow!

I am Totally loving this toy. The more I fiddle with and figure out things about this mould the more I gain enjoyment out of this toy!

As you may have heard this toy comes with the targetmaster-esque gun that actually splits into two different guns for dual wielding or as the single gun. They store niftily in the wings when not in use.*

I really liked how the arms are transformed on him as there's a bit of spinning around and folding to get it done. Not too involved but nice! Folding up the backpack was good fun too as I tried it out first out of packaging. But as I went along further I found nice little intricacies to the back!*

Best part IMO is the ability to completely fold it away to the point of it looking like so:*

In short I love the toy. If you find him pick him up or I'll fight you for it. The headsculpt is also excellent and captures scourge perfectly. Love how his head actually pops up for the transformation and can also pop up in alt mode. Lovely stuff here. Get it as soon as you can, then get the United one too! Haha

that is such a Malaysian floor, are any of the wooden pieces loose and come off when you walk over them? :p
Very excited for the figure, can't wait to pick it up!

I love the look of this toy. Bot mode is instantly recognisable as Scourge.

Haven't decided if I'll get him though. I have the titanium version which has the G1-esq alt mode as well as being in scale with both Classics Galvatron and Cyclonus.

I can't wait for my pre-order to arrive for this guy!

I remember watching the review on Youtube by peaugh (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPXUAD2NFt8) and I was like

He looks totally awesome ~ will post my own thoughts once I receive him sometime over the next week or so.

His wings open up to be the batwing-esque shapes ala the cartoons! His coolness just went up a few notches alright!!!
Love it! Now to army build? 7 is the generally agreed upon number right? And if I already have three botcon sweeps... Ack! Decisions decisions!!!

There were 7 Sweeps?

I thought there were only 3 (not including Scourge).

(EDIT: Did some research - there could be more than 7 apparently, only 3 of them "have been graced with defined personalities and identifiers, namely Sweeps Two, Six and Seven" (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Sweeps))

Anyway, I was planning on getting a United version to represent Scourge and 3 Hasbro ones to represent his armada - no one else better copy me now! :p

Well I finally received my Scourge today, so I thought I would post a few thoughts.

To start off with, his alt mode is very cool and everything is tucked away neatly with little (if any) indication of robot bits underneath.

The transformation is a little bit fiddly but is very well thought out and has quite a few surprising twists and turns (done without reading the instructions).

In bot mode, he's a very nice homage to G1 Scourge (awesome head sculpt) and displays reasonably well with Galvatron & Cyclonus.

My only gripe is that he's a bit short, but otherwise he's definitely a cool toy and a must buy.

8/10 (would be a 8.5 but his lack of height bothers me)

Interesting. I didn't realise he was that short. You wouldn't happen to have Titanium Scourge would you? I'd really appreciate a side-by-side comparison shot of them to see the height difference.

Nope... sorry mate. If you wanted a height comparison shot with anything in the Classicverse range I can help out with, but I don't collect the Titaniums.

IIRC, Titanium Series were developed entirely by Hasbro (their Galoob division), whereas of course Scourge would have been developed with TakaraTOMY. Hence why Titanium Series TFs pretty much suck. I just get them for characters for which there are no alternatives (e.g. Dark Ages The Fallen, War Within characters etc.). I did get Scourge though cos someone was selling him loose for cheap. :p Can't wait to get RtS Scourge... besides, I got the Fracas Mini-Con standing around with nobody to binary bond to. ;)

Thanks for the pic lcz128 :)

There doesn't seem to be a difference between the two in terms of height; Generations Scourge just looks bigger because of his 'shoulder pads'.

I don't understand the hatred for Titaniums. I actually thought they were pretty good - especially Ultra Magnus and Scourge. In fact, I probably still prefer Titanium Scourge over the Generations version as he has an accurate alternate mode when compared to his cartoon self.

I find them disappointing to play with. A lot of the joints are stiff and clunky which doesn't allow for smooth spontaneous action poses. Some of them are also limited in articulation. Some of them also have panels that don't have any lock, so they're prone to becoming loose when you transform them back and forth heaps (as is a major part of the play value of a TF toy). The engineering behind them is also rather pedestrian. The paint apps on some of the early figures were also really sloppy. And I don't just mean some QC issue, I mean that actual application of the paints themselves are bad... looks like amateur hand painting.

I find both Cybertron Leader Class Optimus Prime and Voyager Starscream to be better designed interpretations of War Within Prime and Starscream than Titanium Series WWI OP and Starscream. Aside from the more simplistic transformations, you look at things like say the massive gap on the back of Starscream's jet mode where his head and hands are exposed. Lame.

I'm pretty happy with my Scourge, but then I paid a pretty cheap price for him. Not sure how I'd feel if I'd paid full price. Ultra Magnus... I don't have this toy, but I've seen someone else's, and I think the appeal is similar to the reason why I got Titanium Rodimus Prime -- I like the concept. But I don't like the execution. I like the concept of a G1 Rodimus Prime toy who incorporates the trailer into the robot mode. And I think Titanium Ultra Magnus shares the same concept - G1 style cab and trailer which transform into a unified armoured robot mode. But I think the execution of this concept wasn't very well done.

Compare it with say Universe/Henkei Ironhide and Ratchet, which share the same concept in terms of taking G1 figures which had detachable trailers, and incorporating those trailers into a unified robot mode that attempts to look like the G1 robot. IMO HasTak did a much better job with Ironhide and Ratchet compared to what Galoob did with Titanium Rodimus. With Ultra Magnus it's arguably easier to execute because you're not trying to make the trailer "disappear" - which is what they would have had to do with Rodimus, Ironhide and Ratchet.

Anyway, basically my main beef with Titanium Series is their poor play value and sub-par level of engineering (in my opinion). :)

P.S.: Does anyone remember what the RRP for the 15cm Titanium Series TFs was? IIRC they weren't cheap...

I remember at TRU they ranged from $29.xx to $34.xx

Personally I like WW Prime, G1 Ultra Magnus and Rodimus

The evil trio is complete! Galvatron's the weak link now really. This toy looks great with Cyclonus. The updated vehicle mode is great IMO and actually seems like a realistic jet now. The hovercraft mode never really made sense since (besides one of the colouring books) it was usally depicted flying like a boat. The robot mode looks great too, even the fingernails which I wasn't than keen on (since I tend to prefer toy/comic accuracy to anime accuracy) are a nice touch.

This guy arrived in the post today. Here's my quick thoughts.

First of all, I have to say that I'm not a huge fan of the alt-mode chosen for this guy. Althought the G1 toy's original vehicle mode was a little (a lot) obscure (space hovercraft???), the new mode chosen doesn't really fit the character that well in my opinion. For starters, if not for mass-shrinking, Scourge would be a huge robot - easily able to go toe-to-toe with Broadside this time around, without needing to eat a Matrix first (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Image:Matrix_burden_2.jpg). An army of sweeps of this size would mean the war just got a lot more one-sided. Having said that, it is an interesting aircraft to use, and does manage to maintain a few of the more important cues from the original hovercraft mode, mainly the little telescope thing on his head at the back, as well as the overall colour scheme. I guess this is the biggest sticking point with the altmode for me, because it is a ridiculous colour scheme for a supposed stealth bomber. But it's nice and tight, holds together well, reveals very little robot and stores the gun halves ingeniously.

Transformation to robot mode is overly complex, particularly in reference to the arms - they go through approximately 143 twists, turns, slides and pulls to eventually end up in pretty much the same place they started. The only reason I can see for this is to retain the round barrel/thruster placement on his shoulders like the G1 figure had. Except, those rounded shoulders were never that pronounced, and were not considered an 'essential' part of the robot design. Looking at the various renditions of Scourge here (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Scourge_%28G1%29) proves this. Certainly not as ubiquitous as Prime's windscreen chest or Megatron's arm mounted cannon. So a lot of hard work for little reward. The rest of the transformation is pretty straight forward and logical, with a neat design for the back, chest and neck.

He certainly sells Scourge well in robot mode, there's no mistaking who this is meant to be. Hasbro has to be absolutely applauded for having the balls to keep his fingernails painted - it's a really neat detail that helps to portray just how creepy this 'tracker' is supposed to be, and hints at the slightly perverse creation and history of the character. The wings make a great cape and add to the 'evil villain' motif. Poseability overall is fantastic and the large Dorito feet give good stability.

The gun(s) included are good, it's nice that they included the ability to separate them, and the use of a 3mm clip to do this adds flexibility with the other RTS and Generations deluxes. What's disappoiting is that they decided not to go ahead and include Fracas. Very little extra plastic would have been needed to do it, and the gun looks very similar to Fracas' gun mode, so not going this way is a little confusing. For now, it looks like Cyclonus is the only Classics toy that will feature a reference to the 'Master' line of toys, which is odd and disappointing. Unless the 'Hardhead' repaint of Warpath takes the brave step of including Duros (very doubtful).

Definitely recommend getting this guy, despite my reservations with the altmode. He certainly displays better alongside Galvatron and Cyclonus, than Kup does alongside Blur and Hot Rod. Go get him.

I just got mine. I grabbed two in the aid of making them sweeps. I really like it. Lots of possibilities for movement and posing as there are various joins all over his body. The instructions make transformation overly complex though and I found mysle fgetting frustrated with them towards the end. He isn't that complex to transform though, so just drop them and work it out yourself.

The wings allow for different options, ie to follow the picture on the card, or open them up for a larger look, face details are great, light piping eyes effective and paint is pretty good. I also like the way transforming him is very reminiscent of the G1 toy, from what I remember anyway.

Overall, an excellent figure. Vehicle/Robot Scale has always been a contentious issue in transformers, so you have to ignore this aspect, as one does with many other figures and enjoy the toy for what it is, a great toy!

I quite like this toy. :)

My only complaints would be:

+ Shoulder articulation is a bit restrictive -- Scourge can't really raise his arms up sideways -- well, he kinda can if you raise the shoulders up, but then he looks ridiculous.

+ TOO FREAKIN' HARD TO FIND!! Has _anyone_ been able to purchase this toy from a regular brick and mortar retail store?? I looked high and low for this bugger before finding him in a store, and even then it was a specialist collectable toy store selling at an inflated price (which turned out to be a bit cheaper than Australian RRP - but still substantially more expensive than retail here) -- I was told by a retailer that they never received this toy at all, only Sergeant Kup on his own. Gah.

What the hell is up with the distribution of this figure??:confused:

I really like this toy. The flying boomerang didn't bother me much at all and I ended up quite liking it. I also really like the shade of blue. The wings and the head sculpt make this figure.

Only a few minor gripes
-Stability. Wings naturally make him back heavy and the feet look like he should be able to compensate for this easily but in reality he's not as stable as he looks.
-Gun. Dear Hasbro, while I appreciate you make it storable in alt mode and homaging targetmasters and all that please don't make it look and feel like crap.
-Why in the seven hells are his optics blue? (Don't answer that :p)

Hmmmm...
Having trouble warming to this figure. I'm not sure I agree with all the "hype." Bot mode looks the goods, but I really don't like his missing shoulder joints. And yep, he's a little back heavy. I don't mind the guns - I think they look pretty good, and like how they can combine and the wing stowage. I agree, that perhaps he should have been sold with Fracas, like Cyclonus was.
Alt-mode is super-meh. I can't like it. Its boring and lacks any sort of playability or wow-factor. Having said that though, I must say there is very little robot kibble in this mode. But, nah, I still don't like it. Can't see my Scourge figure getting much transformation action.

Its a "get if cheap" vote from me.

I like the 'Rumble' mode mis-transformation (transform into bot without doing the arms, and he looks like he has Rumble's ground-pounding arm things). Except Rumble was red, not blue. :D

Just got this guy from Kmart, was a little iffy at first but now He's one of my faves from the generations line

I dont know why but i really thought his transformation was going to be super simple and boring, BIG MISTAKE his transformation is really nice and is difficult and intricate enough without being overly complicated.

His arm transformation is really unique and cool, and he seems really well designed and made

I love it when transformers have weapon storage, especially when it's like scourge's (actually hiding the weapons instead of just having them sitting on their back or something)

He looks great on his own but even better with united Fracas by his side

on the negative side my one's thighs were really tightly stuck in his shins, so until i had managed to pull them out he was a short stubby mini scourge

I say if you dont have one GET ONE (or if your into army building get more than one)
