DOTM Toy Anticipation Discussion

Post away what you think of this upcoming toyline.

I'm kind of on the disappointed side - not so because of the appearance of the toys, but moreso because of their current sizes. It's inconsistent with the last 2 movies. I was hoping for a new Leader Class Megatron or Optimus and The Purple Tank guy but they're all voyagers. I guess I can wait and hope for Leader releases later. I'm not so fussed with the Dreads, Bumblebee or even Barricade.

What do you think?

Having said that though, unless Hasbro releases a whole pile of Classicverse toys, I'll probably end up buying some of the DOTM toys only because I've got nothing else to buy. :o

My anticipation is low. I haven't liked any of the new versions of old characters i've seen. I was hoping that because ROTF's Leader Class Prime was Lightyears ahead of the first movie's Leader Class Prime the same would happen with DOTM. I haven't seen the version that comes with the trailer yet and really, really hoping it's just Battle Blades Prime with a trailer as the Mechtech voyager looks like garbage.

Only Shockwave has interested me. I am keen to get better looks at the wreckers toys as well. Nothing else has me excited yet.

Thus far I'm liking the new Ironhide, Shockwave, the green Wrecker (we've seen the deluxe robot mode - looks kind of like a green movie-ised Cybertron Crosswise), Megatron, and Dread. Especially Dread - he looks like absolute evil (in a good way) and I can dig the predator style dreadlocks.

I'm not a fan of the legends size class so I'm not anticipating them, I never really bought into the HA craze (the only good one is Jazz imo) so I don't really care about those. Starscream (deluxe) looks very underwhelming, even transformed properly. Don't even get me started on voyager Optimus.

I want to see more of Barricade before I make my mind up - I've got both the first run 2007 deluxe and the HA so I'm probably not going to get the new one unless they do something new and radical with the transformation.

I'd also like to see what they're doing with the Scout size class. The RotF family of lines gave us some of the best scouts today - intricate and well constructed.

Give me Megatruck in black and I'll be a happy camper, otherwise I'm kinda meh, "Dreads" looks alright, probably get a Shocky, just because its Shocky.

Shockwave is the only one that looks interesting to me... but it's only half interesting (ie bot mode only). So, coupled with everything else, I'm pretty 'meh' about the whole line thus far!

im a TF fan but im not into really playing with the toys, i reckon the DOTM toys will be fun and complicated to play with but all i want are the new Robot Heroes :eek:

Voyager Shockwave

Why is there never a Leader class figure for the Lead Villain in these movies? :confused:
I mean, I know there is Megs but I wanted a Leader Fallen as well as a Leader Shockwave :(, I guess I'll just have to accept the Voyagers but Sentinel looks awesome IMO! :D

I think there will definitely be a leader for either Shockwave and/or Megatron down the line... But I agree why they hell do Bumblebee and Ironhide get leaders now instead of Decepticon royalty like Megatron, Shockwave or even Soundwave.:p

I'm surprisingly really excited for the new DotM toys, specifically the Cyberverse range which looks incredible. Best surprise has to be the Legends Class Play-sets, they just look really fun. :)

Really looking forward to seeing a Legends Shockwave!

The new leaders looks nice, I'll probably get one of the two released. I'll pick up the NASCAR Wreckers, that voyager Helicopter thing, and Crankcase.

As long as Soundwave sounds like G1 Soundwave and not Doctor Claw...
But the Doctor Claw voice IS the original G1 Soundwave voice!

In the 1980s whenever Frank Welker voiced Soundwave, he used the Doctor Claw voice. It was Sunbow (Nelson Shin?) who later in editting electronically altered his voice to make it sound more mechanical, which is what you hear in the cartoon. But Welker never liked this... he always intended for Soundwave to sound like Doctor Claw.

So really, the Soundwave voice you hear in Revenge of the Fallen is actually the original pure G1 Soundwave voice, as Welker had always intended for him to sound but Sunbow kept on altering. If you watch the G1 Season 1 episode "Roll For It," just after Ravage captures Chip Chase from his home Soundwave says, "Excellent, Ravage" -- at this point his voice was accidentally NOT electronically modified and you can hear Welker's unaltered voice, and it sounds just like Dr. Claw! (who was also voiced by Welker in the English dub (the original voice actor was Victor Désy (http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victor_D%C3%A9sy) and later Georges Atlas (http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georges_Atlas) from Season 2)

I actually like the dirft towards a smaller scale, I just don't like toys bigger than Voyagers for the most part, So Shockwave and poncho megs look pretty interesting. The wrecker cars and Crankcase seem ok, but i'm a bit over yet more carbots. Some of the HA seems ok. I for one do not see the point in the playsets though, they were great when I was a kid to you know..play with, but now well it's more about appreciation of the toy, not seeing the appeal of these.

Anyway I don't think the line is looking any better or worse than previous movie lines, its your usual mix of gems, lemons and chaff.
