They look less feline and more youthful than their original cartoon counterparts.

Less hair? hmmm no wilykit and kat? Im presuming the 2nd generation thundercats will appear much much later in the series.... if at all - Pumaira, Bengali and Lynx-O

Weren't they already Anime-y enough? I mean I will watch it and buy the toys, of course. (Especially those 8 inch toys that sound like Thundercats Classics!)

Kinda. Thundercats was among this 1980s craze where American cartoon makers were getting Japanese anime studios to do the animation. Transformers (Sunbow/Toei) was among them, as were The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers (Gaylord (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaylord_Entertainment_Company)/Tokyo Movie Shinsha), Mighty Orbots (MGM-UA/Tokyo Movie Shinsha) etc.

hmmm, NO Panthro ei? Just Tigra and Cheetarah, I think I saw the wily twins , and then there's Jaga, Who's the father of Lion - O? He said they "fight like cats", hweheheheh Ill just spray em with lemon juice, that'll stop em:D:D:D:D
