Building a Shadowbox Frame

Hi guys, not really transformers related but am hoping to get some help from those with experience in shadow boxes and framing for display pieces.

I'm looking to get a hockey stick framed, however am trying to get a basic display frame/case done on the cheap while looking good.

Having none of the tools required for making a frame/shadowbox is there any where like a workshop etc. that I can construct the display case as I'm finding $300+ basic deep frames quite steep.

Does anybody have experience with making good quality shadowbox frames or alternatively know where long length shadowboxes can be bought from on the cheap?
