Question... Was his name Ueda Hidehito or Hidehito Ueda? I've seen it both ways in headlines on the international fan sites.
In Japanese, surnames come before given names. Ueda is his surname, thus it should be "Ueda Hidehito," (上田秀人) but a lot of Westerners like to Westernise the name order and place it as given-name/surname order instead of surname/given-name, but it's not something that I personally do, cos it's just weird.
Japanese speakers don't force Western names to conform to Japanese name-order. e.g. Michael Bay is still called "Michael Bay" (マイケル・ベイ) in Japanese, and not "Bay Michael." Saying "Hidehito Ueda" would be akin to saying "Welker Frank," "Cullen Peter" etc.
