MISB Toys and Batteries

I have a lot of MISB TF's that have electronics - and power in the form of small watch like batteries or the small cylinder ones (AAA I think).. such as

Animated Power Optimus
Animated Megatron
Animated (can't rememer name) green dude who's head twists

Universe Ultra's - Powerglide, Silverbolt etc.

Star Wars Darth Vader / Death Star

Now do the small watch batteries leak over time like the A's? When battery acid leaks it is pretty destructive, I'm guess it is pointless keeping MISB examples if they will eventually be eaten from the inside out.

I'm thinking of just opening the lot.

yes the A's will leak in time, much less time than say the button types. which is why I believe in a prev thread before ( cant find it now) about batteries and MISB TFs most people here do remove the batteries ASAP, but for MISB collectors well. since they're not gonna open their collection anyways I guess they just let them leak in the long run..

If you're planning on keeping them mint in sealed box, do you really care what the batteries are doing anyway? This thread is more useful than most on the topic:

Yes I think I do. Because they are MISB doesn't mean I want them damaged.

Thanks for the replies folks, I should have done a search but I have read those links and there is some good info there.

I guess that if you want to keep the toy MISB there is nothing you can do about the batteries - You just have to hope they don't leak for at least as long as you own the toy and if they do, you will likely never know with the only hint being that the 'Try Me' feature would no longer work but that doesn't necesarily mean leackage.
