The thing I'm upset with 2009 are those power miner things! Why oh why did they replace Exo-Force with that crud?
Well, I still want to see clearer pictures before judging it, but they certainly are looking mighty horrible. As far as I can see it's a horrible mixture of technic, system and bionicle with the dayglo green and neon orange colour set. Ugh.
Hopefully Agents get more sets.
So whats the overall consensus on the Agents sets?
Personally I really like the look of most of the sets, but are these sets going to keep the kiddies interested? I'm looking at the getting some of the smaller sets for cousins for upcoming birthdays (and of course Christmas). They have Bionicles and exo force figures already, do you guys think these agent sets are in the same league or will they be a bit of a disappointment to 7-12 year olds?
I don't know about the Mission sets. They have their pro's and cons. The only reason I would get some is for one or 2 reasons. The sets, to me, as a whole don't really do much for me. It is just bits here and there. Like the boat for example looks nice. But it is just the giant sharks with lazers I want.
I'm not to sure hoe the kids will deal with them. They are loaded with gimmicks. They could do alright.
Thats kinda what I wanted to hear. The more decent gimmicks a lego set has, the longer it will be played with! Thats why I always get the relatives in the 6-12 age group lego like Bionicles, they are very playable.
I too want the Sharks with laserbeams, so Austin Powers! :p

I got pointed to a funny lego animation on you tube by a friend. 'Death Star Canteen'. Its a skit from a british comedian called Eddie Izzard. Its quite dry british humour but very funny. WARNING: LANGUAGE has a few F words in it.
Hope you like it.
:)
They are playable, but they have something else going for it. There is a huge story behind it. They tried the same thing with Exo-Force, but with the Bionicle story is just the other media behind it. There are Comics, Movies, Online serials (there are 3 going right now, plus a radio serial). There are heaps. And that seems to get the kids because they can get into the characters and everything
I suggest to just get Bionicles for sub-12yo age group. I'm not sure if they can appreciate the build engineering and little details that most of the themed sets (outside of City sets) out now. Definately just get them Bionicles, especially if they are rough with their toys.
piratescratch: The Coast Guard Platform is at Kmart and definately a good time to pick it up now while the 15% off sale is on.
Power miners? Where? What? Err, what?
I'm LOVING those city construction sets. Holy moly!
Power Miners: http://www.brothers-brick.com/2008/0...rs-theme-news/
Love the impulse set chef. hehe.
Ah, so that's power miners. Meh, I'm not fussed, it's not a line I'd be buying anyway. Most of my new lego buys are either creator or technic.
Looks like they are re-doing Rock Raiders but with horrible colours. The little monsters look cool though.
Edit: Clearer Pictures from Eurobricks' forum
I'm thinking of getting either the Agents Truck or the Clone Wars Republic Gunship.
If you had to choose just one, which one would you pick?
Rep Gunship for me.
Depends on personal preferences though.
I'd go the gunship. I'm a Star Wars guy though.
I'd go the Agents Truck simply because of the number of smaller vehicles contained within it and the awesome light projector feature.
Lego sale at Myer folks:

Nice. I might get the excavator next week, and hopefully they'll have the motor kit as well.
Myer are just the best shop to get lego from. No other store in this country has as great and full selection as Myer does when it comes to lego.
& the most pointless upcoming Lego release goes to... *shakes head*
1978?:confused:Quote:
Amy Winehouse, Madonna and the Beckhams have also made the limited edition moulds, to mark the company's start in 1978
Whaaaaaa!

The dates man. All pre-1978 parts.
How do you guys get the stickers to not flake off your sets?
I've got myself a technic crane (8421) and they broke when I touched it
I am also regretting not grabbing the giant tow truck (8285) when it was out here. I haven't found any sets and looking on ebay, the prices are pretty bad.
If anyone has seen that tow truck, please let me know. :D:
I'm pretty new to Lego so I haven't yet encounter cracking stickers so I'm no help :o
Just googled 8285... it's amazing! But I haven't seen it anywhere in my travels.
The Technic Tow Truck is amazing. Kmart used to have so much stock of this set and I waited and waited until one day it was just $130. It's the largest Lego set I've built. Took a good 8 hours over two days. Tonne's of gears and moving parts:

Here it is with Leader TFM Prime and Classics Prime (also that little black splotch is a minifig [Clawdette]):

Six cylinder engine with working pistons and "hand of god" steering:

Pneumatic lift up back along with two stabilizers operated by a "hand of god" knob at the cabs roof:

Technic Excavator and (motorized) Cherry Picker with Leader TFM Prime and Classics Prime:

The excavator, digger outstretched. Uses two actuators and can be modded to be motorized:

The Cherry Picker. Not the biggest truck but it's pretty tall when fully stretched. Comes with a motor:

As for the flaking stickers problem... How long have you had the set for? Do you store/display it where a lot of heat is generated (eg next to a heater or under direct sunlight)? When putting on stickers, ensure the surface is dust free and oil free. Avoid touching the actual sticky bits with your finger as skin oil will adhere to it. Also what is the sticker like? I have never heard of stickers cracking with touch. Especially for a set that is not too old.
I want to get that excavator while it's $59 at Myer, but has anyone seen the optional motor set around? Apparently it really adds to that set.
Stompy: wow.
There is a heater in my room so that may be the cause of the problem.
More specifically, some stickers were peeling off and I tried to flatten it out and then it broke.
I bought it in 2005/06 I think.
I am really only into the massive technic sets with lots and lots of parts.
Heh I had a browse through Brickset.com last night and it brought back a lot of memories :)
I still want one, so massive, my crane is only roughly 44cm long. That monster is over 66cm long according to brickset.
It reminds me of the giant truck from the Model Team series (5571). Did anyone have this big thing?
Just thinkin' about it, can't you just order the pieces through Lego's replacement partsfunction on their website (under customer service)?
Gah! Stompy, you are making me want to branch out more and more! Curse you to the Sharkitcon pits!
(See, Paulbot, this is a TF topic:p)
I had a look through the website STL and I couldn't find it. I don't think they do sell the stickers.
Thanks for the idea though, I need to try and get some replacement parts for some of my sets.
Pity they don't stock some of the older stuff, which I need.
Heh maybe I should move back to Lego System. You guys have some pretty sweet collections from what I've seen. :D

I don't have much a Lego collection... just bits and pieces here and there. And half of it I share w/ my little sister who loves the creator and city legos
