I was thinking that bricks and mortar stores will always have higher on-costs than e-tailers, especially stores the size of TRU.

Almost double the price cos TRU is bricks & mortor store?
Nah, the key phrase is "profit margin".
(Why does discussion ultimately end up being about price? :o Sell a kidney & lets enjoy this release.)
On the plus side those TrU Trypticons will probably shelfwarm for a few years, which means no one need worry about where to get one when all the online retailers have long since sold out.
And heck, if one is patient enough maybe one would eventually be able to get one for the same price as the original one was in 1986/87 due to TrU clearance pricing :P
Tried to pre order this from tfsource but its preorder sold out now. Devod. Have to wait and see for extras or even check bbts?
http://www.premiumcollectables.com.au/ just reopened orders for Trypticon, AUD$219.95 with free shipping.
A lot of the other board members seem to be ordering through them, so maybe give them a try :)

$220.
payment is required up front though
Didn't even know about that site...thanks all!! Sadly the tryptycon was sold out there too...picked up the platinum soundblaster and perceptor though....so not all is lost.
You may have to go to RobotKingdom then?
I can confirm that, orders for second shipment are still open.
I can see however why one might think that it's completely sold out with it on the page in big red letters saying sold out, but below that it does say "PRE ORDER JULY- OPEN".
Basically with premiumcollectables so long as the green button to add to cart is there you can/should be able to order him ;)
