It might be because is economical to do lighter purple. Who knows Hasbro may want to redo this to the right colours.

some pictures on facebook has the hands/ blaster hand in clear plastic... so which one is then , opaque or clear... I prefer clear personally...
Over in TFW, they have an image showing the accessories, which include translucent and opaque purple hands/blaster.
Sunbow used various different shades of purple in the G1 cartoon, but it was often a lighter shade than the toy, and often just downright lavender. So TakaraTOMY's choice is reasonably close.

Colour looks fine to me. The chest details along with the different accessories is also accommodating towards the original toy. Everything about this is a homage to both the toon and original toy. Huge win on this MP. :)
Bring on Galvatron. :)
Not disputing the colours for Shockwave aren't accurate, as the cartoon did have a lighter purple, its a good choice by Takara and it may look better or worse depending on the lighting. I just have a preference for deeper purple or even something similar to the G1 toy. Its something I didn't even think about right away. Most likely there will be another version planned I might just wait and see. Its worthwhile raising the point as others may not of noticed or cared.
Yeah, I would have preferred a dark purple colour like the toy had as well. I'm sure a Hasbro release will cater to it later next year.
From the latest Seibertron podcast, Ryan seemed sceptical that Hasbro would touch Shockwave given the concerns about toy guns from a legal perspective. So this may be the only way to get Shockwave. To me the colour looks nice and it wouldn't stop me from buying this in any case. Shockwave is shaping up as maybe the best ever Masterpiece figure to date.
