The Computer/Console Gaming Thread

I think the game really captures the atmosphere of a zombie movie.
You walk out of the safe house and everything is quiet, obvious signs of a disaster, crashed cars blood stains etc. You grab a baseball bat and wander up the road, and see some corpses, turn walk off the road to the pool and approach the bar, more bodies litter the ground. In the distance you see someone eating a corpse! It notices you and runs screaming towards you, you swing the bat and cave in it's head, you turn around to run back to safety only to be confronted by a horde of undead monsters!

That is dead island. It's basically Borderlands meets dead rising. I turn off the damage indicators and enemy health bars, makes it more tense not knowing how strong any zombie is. I also play with the analogue fight controls, makes it feel more like a struggle to beat back the zombie horde, but it does make it harder to play.

Totally worth the $34 it cost me, but I'd have happily paid full retail for it. Yet to try multi-player.

Bought the new Sam And Max game the other day, still as fun as the original games. Still difficult as well. I'm already stuck haha

Anyone selling an official PS1 memory card?
Turns out you can't save on most PS1 games to a PS2 memory card when playing on a PS2 :(

I'm in dire need!
I bought Wipeout 2097 from Fungal Infection recently, and today by sheer miracle i stumbled across a $10 Namco Negcon controller at Cash Converters (while searching for a memory card!)
By god it is glorious! I can see now, once i get a damn memory card i will be buying up all the Ridge Racer games and a few others!

How's the Wii game TF Cybertron Adventures?

Not too shabby for an on-rail shooter. Kind of fun, I find myself thinking as I play it, but nowhere near as cool as WFC.

The graphics are a bit weak tbh, some textures and stuff are just not there, but the story isn't bad and it's definitely not the worst game I have played.


I got ICO and Shadow of the Colossus collection. Bought the Japanese limited box set! Very nice it is too.

Then discovered that when you play through ICO in the +game, Yorda has english subtitles, so went and got the Aussie version. Which is nowhere near as nice...

Now I have 3 copies of those games...:rolleyes:

Looks are not it's strong suit, but the gameplay is fun and varies enough, you get a variety of weapons for each stage, the levels are well designed and you flow through them at a decent pace. It is not a long game, and unless you really like playing the same couple of levels over and over trying to improve your time and/or score you'll burn through it in a weekend or so.

I bought it on clearance for about $30 and do not regret the purchase, but I wouldn't recommend paying more than that, if you are not an on rails shooter fan, maybe give it a hire first.

I've been playing infamous on the PS3, and it has been very enjoyable, now that some retailers are selling it for around $30 for the platinum verison, I highly recommend it to those who enjoy sandbox games.

I got infamous through the 'welcome back thingo' and was surprised at how fun it was too!

I recieved an email from Nintoendo shwoing a promotion thing for the 3DS and its camera.

Interesting to see that the photos in the galleries don't seem to reflect the absoute crap quality of the 3DS camera. I did some photos of toys and hosted them for some of my blog posts, but the pictures are such low quality they look like I am using an absoluet 1st gen mobile phone...

You must be doing something wrong (or uploading photos that are supposed to be 3d).
That quality is about right :/

infamous is a brilliant game, the second one is so much more fluid though. (you'll understand upon playing it)

Welll, I want people to be able to dl the photos, put them on the 3DS to have a look at the toy in 3d. I admittedly I was taking close ups, but all the shots look really low res. Is there a way to increase the pixels used or something?

I just zipped them as I don't know how to display the 3D files.
