BWTF's review :)

That review was balanced and reasonable. Alot of reviews seem to pick the movie to pieces so much so that it comes across as all negative.
There's plenty of holes in it but I came in expectign that. I wasn't expecting strong Transformers characterisation or anything. Just expected a brainless, soulless 2.5 hours of action with some good moments. I think if you expected more you would be disappointed.
That's not to say of course you shouldn't expect more. But I guess in my case, I was resigned to the fact that I knew it would be average and disappointing so I lowered my expectations accordingly to reduce disappointment.
It's sad but it works. If I wasn't a TF fan I don't think I would've been disappointed b/c going in all I wanted was splash, bang, gratuitous T&A and slapstick. And the vast majority of my non-TF friends have all enjoyed it.
Am I the only one who didn't like the action in ROTF? I thought TF1 had much better scenes, Blackouts opening attack, Barricade and BB chase, Bring the rain, Prime v Bonecrusher & City Shootout.
ROTF (IMO) had nothing in comparison! The Shanghai Opener was ok, I felt the forrest battle boring, and the big last battle was rather dull. The only bit I really like was Ravage, and that was too short and had the lame-ass fur ball-bot thing doing Ravages job, he should have infiltrated, not his vomit!
The first one ticked me off, I'm only interested in this one to see how much worse Michael "I-only-took-the-gig-'cos-it-was-about-a-boy-and-his-first-car" Bay can stuff it up. Mr Explosions didn't want to do a movie about giant transforming robots but did like the boy/car buddy flick angle? Odie = vindicated.
To everyone who went into this expecting anything but what STL so aptly described, I'd just like to say: Bwahahahaha!BWAHAHAHAHAHA!
Sorry, it's gotta be said.
Pretty much. If I try watching anything other than BW or Animated with my head turned on I 1: get a headache and 2: start feeling depressed over how much time, energy and money I've poured into this hobby/addiction. Seriously, do not turn to Transformers for intellectual depth, it's not what they're about (i.e. selling toys) and with very few exceptions you will be disappointed.
That honest review was great, if I can get baked enough and find some fellow not-emotionally-invested fans it sounds like a fun movie.
If people want more intellectually stimulating Transformers stories, then they should go read the comics or watch Beast Wars or Beast Machines... parts of Animated. I don't watch any of Michael Bay's movies expecting to get something deep out of them. ;)
Did anyone notice devs was drunk or something. When he combines he tries to lift his head the first time, but it falls down.
A discussion I had with dirge last night: do you think the forced humour was from Bay or from some Paramount studio exec? dirge brought up the interesting argument that Michael Bay's other films lack the kind of purile and juvenile humour that we see in Transformers.
I thought of Bad Boys, which I really like and find quite funny - and yeah, none of the humour in that movie was forced like in Transformers. So it seems to be out of character for Bay to do something like this, and neither is it in the nature of Orci or Kurtzman because it doesn't appear in Star Trek (I'm not familiar with any other material they've written). So it's made me ponder as to whether it might've been some other studio exec who decided to chuck this stuff in.
If so, that person deserves a kick in the janglies.
"No, YOU freeze, b***h! Now, back up. Put down the gun. And give me some Tropical Fruit Bubblicious."
"And some skittles!"
