I actually intentionally bought the regular version due to the fact that it didn't have the gold chrome parts - building the Mk II one annoyed the hell out of me since you had to take extra precaution with the trimming of the gold chrome parts.
I didn't like the glossier red paint finish or want the display stand that came with the special edition anyway, so it was an easy choice (especially when the regular one cost me less than half what it would have set me back to get the special edition). :)
I won't be tackling PG OO Raiser till at least after Xmas since the gf will be going overseas for a few weeks, giving me ample time to work on it properly.
I am itching to build it though - contemplated starting it last night, but I know that once I start on it, I'll probably want to sit and finish it (or build as much of it as possible, to the detriment of other things in life, like work, sleep and the gf :p)
