600 hey? Anyone know how may TRU stores there are in Aust?
That's 17.142857 per store:D or in reality 2 per WA store and 18 per store for the rest of Australia:rolleyes::p
I'm going out on a limb here and saying there should be enough MP Soundwave for people who want to buy one ... unless people grab multiple units. I'm trying to stay positive.
Does anyone know if TRU puts a limit per customer?
do the newer figures begin showing up on one coast vs another here? in the US typically, the figures show up on the West Coast first and then move Eastward based on distribution.
If people think this is going to sell like hot cakes, they going to check again.
I did think about it as well to grab two, then I am hearing a lot of NEWS about high quality KO and Soundwave was mentioned. Now there is already the cassettes KOed.
Think about it, if you think buying all the soundwaves would make you a rich man then that's sad news. There will be alternatives and regardless people would only pay a certain amount above RRP.
Chances are I am going to grab one and that's it. No use to be greedy and then you ended up with dead weight. Mostly grab one and report sightings to help your mates here.
Takara MP-10 had been out for a fair while before the Hasbro version was released as well. That didnt stop them flying off shelves. Also the Hasbro version is significantly cheaper in both cases (OP and Soundwave) so there will be many, like a large portion of board members here, awaiting the local release.
Also I can't ever recall a case where a TF KO release has significantly affected the sales of the genuine item.
That would depend on scalpers wouldn't it? If they bought up everything and throw Soundwave at ridiculous $300 and then a similar high quality KO is only at $110, I would think that would change everything.
Like said, Yes and No, I am not saying this wont fly off the shelves, it would. But at what rate? snap up within one day? or as per gradually? I am beginning to be very anti-Ebay for new items. And if they are trying to dominate with such method, the only thing I would do is not support it.
Macross Chogokin is one example, I noticed they are beginning to lower some prices because they realized they have reached the potential of what a customer willing to pay, and thus is going to be dead stock to them or they lower it gradually.
For Soundwave, hot item yes, not getting one, I would think is a bit weird, seeing some reported heaps in hk on the shelves. You can count the handful of members here who are interested and technically we all should be able to get one. Unless some moron bought everything.
For me, I think it wont be end of the world, At worst I buy KO tapes, there is no way I be paying $90 just for two small figures, absolutely not. even Sideswipe would be pushing it for me at that price.
it was still possible to find an MP-10 here and there a fortnight or so after they first appeared. they will move fast but probably will take a week.
I'll be damned if I'm gonna buy KO over legit figures. End of story. No matter if they are cheaper than ebay prices.
End of the day, is Hasbro's TRU call. Making things too exclusive and too difficult people will resort to KOs.
I honestly woudn't like to support KOs. But if people are going make things extremely hard, then it leaves people with limited choices.
Also to note, unlike sideswipe KO which requires a Lamborghini wording, Soundwave would be absolutely nothing of that sort. Making it absolutely hard to find flaws if they replicate it at standards that they are currently producing.
I definitely want to get a Hasbro one if I can. And that will be all for me. If I happened to get zero, then I buy KO tapes and that will be end of it.
I visit my local TRU store every weekend in the hope that it might turn up early. And on just about every occasion, there are one or several people with the same agenda.
I have no doubt these 2 MP lines will fly off the shelves as soon as people get a wiff that they have arrived. Firstly, there are only 600 units or thereabouts for SW and 400 for Acid Storm, unless TRU decides to get a second lot shipped. Secondly, look at Generations Metropelx at Target. Many of us already got him from an oversees online store, yet we ended up buying a second Metroplex from Target (has to be said that he was on special). Thirdly, SW is one of the most popular TF going around.
On the topic of KOs, why would you support fakes. All they do is push up the price of legit items because the likes of Hasbro and TakTom would add a margin in the price to factor in for the potential loss in sales.
Buying a KO is not an option for me personally. Not gonna stop people from buying them either.
But have you thought of asking someone to grab one for you? I can't get to stores often because of the hours I work, so I've asked people who regularly go to pick one up for me. And I know Perth gets low stock too, but someone from the eastern states would more than be happy to get one and post it to you if you were willing to accept the extra postage cost.
There are always other options before resorting to KO.

Has a red visor for Hasbro version. :)
Same, MP-10 got myself back into Transformers, back then when walk through TRU saw MP grimlock and hot rod, didn't buy them! F**K!!
Even my mate don't collector TF's toys but he want Soundwave! finger cross that we all can get Soundwave!
He should care about exclusives, as this is why we are in this situation. ;)
I wished they are just all over Australia but this isn't the case and certainly is only limited to TRU and this is actually a problem.
Wished Target brought in the Takara version to equalised the situation.
And I'm going to be away in November. GREAT.
But going to HOng Kong though..
Everytime I see a new posting on this thread I'm eagerly anticipating the news of MP Soundwave & Acid Storm's in-store date or sighting. It must be getting ever so close now. :p
I think it will be posted up as a new news topic when it gets released... and get posted in just about every topic remotely related to it.
The important thing to remember is that neither this, nor the 2nd reproduction of the TT version, will be the last time Soundwave or his tapes will be produced. How long ago was Grimlock released? In the space of twelve months we've already had two reissues/reruns (Asia exclusive and new MP-08), so if you don't get it now, or today, or in November, it's not actually an issue- everything will come to you in time. :)
